  1. Thanks all for the suggestions. Gives me some ideas to try for the next ones! Julie
  2. I had posted & asked if anyone made these type of candles Just making for my own enjoyment! Well I gave it a try. I used Apples & Oak fo at 5% in both my gel & my regular wax. Z51. Put in a small mouth 1/2 pint square mason jar. They turned out really pretty. So pretty when burning! Burn nicely (no smoke & very little mushrooming) but the hot throw is very, very weak & has a bit of fuel oil smell. I generally use 8%-10% fo in my regular wax but someone had said to use the suggested % for gel in both. I am really disappointed in the throw. Would a larger wick help at all? Appreciate any suggestions. Julie
  3. Just want to play...not sell but thanks for the warning. Julie
  4. Vicky, Thanks for telling me that. I will definetly check them & keep fingers crossed that I have some usable ones! Julie
  5. Thanks! Just hate the thought of having to buy new ones but I would love to try those candles!
  6. These are made by Primal Elements. Was wondering if anyone makes something like them & where to begin? Also where do they find all those good scents that are gel safe? I do J223 candles (mostly bakery scents) & none of the fo's I have are listed as gel safe. I buy most of my fo's from BCS & WSP. Bums me out that I have all these great fo's & can't play with the gel! Happy New Year, Julie
  7. Wow! Thanks for the wonderful tutorials! Have admired your candles for quite some time...specially the orbs. Now I can try them myself! Julie
  8. I've wondered about that too...how does bbw get their things so strong & long lasting? Do they just break the usage rule of thumb or what? Julie
  9. Here's some info on panthenol for you. I don't believe it would affect the feel of the balm but it may be helpful for chapped lips. Commonly called "ProVitamin B5" or "Pantothenic Acid", panthenol is an additive no hair care product should be without. It's strengthening properties are well-known and widely used in professional hair care formulations. This white, free-flowing powder is water soluble and readily dissolves in cold or hot water. When used in skin care at rates of 1-2%, panthenol will effectively reduce irritation and reduce redness. Excellent for after-sun care or tanning lotions hth Julie
  10. :rolleyes2 Well I'm a smoker too but that gives that nasty brown, yellow color...this is pure black! Thought I finally had it together. Grrrr! Thanks for the reply...I'm off to read your links. Julie
  11. Here's a great place. Good quality products. http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/soap/Herbs.asp Julie
  12. Nobody else has had a problem like this?
  13. Wick stickums for me too! I get them either at bcn or candlesandsupplies. I wipe the bottom of my jar with alcohol (or wash them) stick my wick to my tab then put into my warmed jar. Then I push it down around the metal tab with a pen point! Never a problem anymore. Julie
  14. Hi, Several months ago I switched to J223. Thought I had everything working well...good scent throw, no smoking etc. Started doing some early spring cleaning & I've got black soot on my walls! Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks. Julie
  15. It's still on the website under the LowPrice $15.25 category. Are there two maybe? Julie
