  1. I have been wanting to make some laundry soap for a long time, finally found some washing soda in a local store- yippee!! I have some liquid soap that didn't turn out so well-really cloudy after sitting for a couple of weeks, I wonder if I could use this and decrease some of the water needed in the recipe?
  2. Wowsers, IMO your best bet would be to go to the recipe section and try one of the recipes there.
  3. I have several times and it always turns to a dark brown.
  4. I've always bought distilled water(wal-mart) and I've always ended up with ash. No matter if I immediately cover and wrap after pouring without peaking at all, it's always there.
  5. I place a small order with her & got someone else's order instead(even had the other persons packing slip). She sent me return postage and I returned the package to her and received mine within a few days.
  6. Yup that's me, I really TRIED to make myself use/like lotion bars but it just didn't work.
  7. I recently decided to stop using Palm oil, my only hard oils were coconut & shea- I justed upped the Coconut & fiddled around with my other oils.
  8. I tried a recipe similar to that once and it didn't turn out good at all, there was no glide to it, I ended up tossing it.
  9. I almost choked on my drink while flipping through a Bliss catalog-way too expensive for me.
  10. What are you using to mix with? When I make body butter(butters & oils) I whip it with a blender and when I make lotions (water, butters, & oils) I use a stick blender. HTH
  11. Not at all, in fact I think it's rather catchy, I like it!!!
  12. Same here, I've read & read the recipes on there but all the ingredients are overwhelming to me. I had such a hard time with liquid soap that I find I am really dragging my feet to try cream soap even though I have been dying to try it for months now, lol.
  13. Lovespell is my favorite scent(welll tied with Satsuma). I use both NG & Candlescience and honestly can't smell a difference. HTH
  14. Yup I agree, after a few months mine(lotion) developed mold-eewww. I do soak my hair in straight coconut milk once a month, yep I love coconut milk.
  15. I haven't used Manoi on my hair since last winter, so after noticing that my hair was starting to look like straw again I recently started slathering it on my hair at bedtime and guess what-my dog (this is her first winter) goes crazy sniffing, she even starts drooling-funny but kinda gross too.
  16. I'm not surprised that you sold out of your embeds, I have yet to see a pic of one that I didn't like(hint, hint, more pics..........:rolleyes2 ).
  17. This is probably a silly question but I'm curious- how do you all make lip balm? I find myself procrastinating everytime I have to make some cuz the clean up is such a PITA. Right now I use a glass bowl and it's not easy to clean up-even my sink ends up messy. I'm thinking disposable is the way to go?
  18. I just use my one of my kitchen cabinets, works fine for me.
  19. Looks alot better than my first batch!!
  20. My soap seems to be darkening with age, is this normal? I scented it Holiday Wassail, could that be the culprit?
  21. I made a batch a couple of weeks ago, 90% Olive oil & 10% Monoi, it's not soft at all and has a light scent (haven't tried it out yet though).
  22. I use soapcalc and just pop the %'s in & it tells me the oz's. HTH.
  23. I dunno squat about calculating a recipe, but I do know there's a great cream soap group on Yahoo that has a wealth of info (I'm still reading it) as well as recipes, tutorials, pics, etc. All very nice members too. For some reason I am still dragging my feet with the cream soap-maybe when/if the snowy, cold weather starts & I'm stuck at home, lol. Yanno, the more I think about it, I think part of my problem is that I've never seen nor used cream soap, so I have no idea what it's supposed to look/feel like (besides seeing pictures). Hibiscus, do you sell cream soap? I may be interested in trying some out.
