  1. Wow, it's nice to know I'm not the only one this happens to. I only print out a couple of labels at a time & it always happens to me!
  2. Oooh I luv Lovespell, looks great!
  3. I wanted to do cream soap but decided liquid soap would be the lesser evil of the two, and after my 5th FAILED batch of LS, it'll take me quite a while to be brave enough to try cream soap! I am fine until the diluting stage-goes right down the drain from there(no pun intended, lol).
  4. Wow I am seriously about to pull my hair out. Tired doing CP liquid soap, but I think I added too MUCH water this time-it's really watery. I don't think I will ever get this right.
  5. I did neutralize with borax. I didn't run the recipe through soapcalc- figured I'd stop procrastinating and just do it to get a feel for it. Things do make more sense after making the first batch(Failor's book was confusing to me). I have been trying to formulate a recipe to try again and I have noticed that Soapcalc & Summer Bee Meadow calc differ when I run the same recipe through.
  6. That looks great- IF I ever figure out LS I hope to move on to CS!
  7. Shea butter definitely. Isn't it expensive to buy castor oil at wally world?
  8. I did HP, and I cooked it 6-7 hrs. The recipe I used was 16.5 oz soybean oil, 7 oz coconut, 5.5 oz KOH, 16.5oz water. During dilution I added 2lbs of water.
  9. Well here it is, my first batch of liquid soap, it's almost a week old and still rather cloudy (not sure if you can tell in the pic). Tried a little of it last night and was really harsh, almost left my hands sticky- I hope it mellows out.
  10. I need to post a pic of it tonight, so far it's not clearing up. It's unscented also, I got carried away and forgot. Haven't had time to read but I would like to find out if there's a way I can add FO -I don't want the whole batch to be the same scent anyway.
  11. Wow you seriously need to start selling your purses, I know, I know-if you HAD to make 'em then it wouldn't be as much fun, lol. Seriously though, all your stuff is great!
  12. It is just a little cloudy-although I am hoping it will clear as it sequesters, it's only been sitting for 3 days. Wouldn't u know I was so excited to get pass the stage it f'd up the first time I forgot to add fragrance, lol.
  13. Hip hip hooray, I did it!! Well I think I did anyways. I tried it again yesterday, it's not clear, more of a dark amber. Haven't tried it yet but filled the pot to soak and it sure was bubbly.
  14. Not sure wtf happened, I paniced and threw it away. I let it sit to dissolve all night and all morning-until almost lunchtime. It was still not all the way dissoved, had thick hard sticky chunks still. After reading more I am kicking myself for chucking it, I think I should have put the crockpot on low and see if that melted the chunks? I was a dark amber color, kind of like maple syrup. Should I leave the crock pot on low when I dissolve it? Wow this is alot more difficult then CP for me.
  15. Ok this is just taking toooooo long, I just did the test- dissolving 1 oz of paste into 2 oz of boiling water and although it isn't cloudy there is a few big clumps that are hard as rocks, I've been stirring and stirring but they refuse to dissolve.
  16. Yup he does have the borax step. I had my crock pot on low, maybe that's why it is taking so long, i just stuck the therm. in there & it said 150 so I cranked it on high.
  17. Not sure it it's zappy- ya mean I can do the zap test same as CP? (yuck) I am using the recipe off from about.com. But I just went and checked on it and now its starting to look like the translucent vasoline stage so perhaps there is still hope?!
  18. I'm making liquid soap for the first time, I started around 11am and everything went fine but I am in the taffy stage-have been for over an hr. Did something go wrong or am I just being impatient? The recipe said it should take 3-4 hrs cooking so I am getting nervous.
  19. Yikes, thanks for the heads up- I've done this a few times without a problem.
  20. I use FO's but I like EO's also, I would have to say NG is one of my fav's.
  21. Ok so here's what I've come up with & I undecided on which one I prefer. My kids are no help, I need some adult feedback. I like the way Soap Central sounds, but I wonder if that would limit me to just soaps.....or should I go with Outta the Blue, I like that name also. Argh I am almost at the point to flip a coin to decide, lol. Opinions would be greatly appreciated.
  22. Ok I made a few batches today with honey & sugar. I mixed the honey in my oils and then added my lye solution, it did thicken up rather quickly, but I didn't notice any funky color change. Grrr I am going to be p*ssed if the soap turns brown.
  23. Okay I guess that wasn't very catchy afterall, back to the drawing board......
  24. I just let mine air out for a few weeks and then store in cardboard boxes. Forgot to mention when I first saw your soap it made me hungry, looked like some ooey gooey yummy lasagna to me.....:tiptoe:
  25. How does Soap Central sound? Not sure if it's already taken, when I google it alls I come up with is soap opera related hits, lol. I am aiming for a short catchy name and bold, loud labels, lol. Soap Tech? Hmmmm
