  1. This might sound like a lot of extra work but when I made my sister's bridal shower favors. I bought a cheap soap mold for about 2 dollars that made 1 inch puffy hearts then I made a small hole in the middle of the heart so I could thread the wick through it a small shot of a heat gun and it was something special. I even got a few more bridal favor orders for several other weddings. You could do a paw print or even a bone the same way. That would be different and they wouldn't expect that when they opened up their candle. Just a suggestion. Steph
  2. Thank you for your responses much appreciated. I have been burning since 9:30am and doing very well. My mom came in and asked me what smell so good. I have a 12x 18 living room and filling it nicely can smell in dining room as well. I put it kid's room to see how goes. How big of a throw does your votives get. This is really exciting me.
  3. Pink Sugar, Loving Spell aka Love Spell, Pumpkin Crunch Cake, Old Fashion Banana Pudding, Red Hot Cinnamon and Country Clothesline are my best sellers. Also Blueberry Muffin really strong and I like gardenia for myself that sells pretty good too.
  4. I just poured my first votive and it looks very nice. How long do I have to wait to test burn? I am using 6228 and iced cinnamon roll fo if that helps. I figured a day like my containers.
  5. I believe Candles and Supplies has a decent selection of patterns to choose from. Stephanie
  6. You could try the silicone mini muffin pans I went to a kitchen store inside one of the malls near Pittsburgh and found them for 1.00 a pan each pan held 6 muffins. They were a little smaller than the 1oz tart molds but but you could always grubby the tops and and make them look primitive. HTH Stephanie
  7. I always leave mine uncovered til the next day sometimes a little longer if I am busy. I agree with the last poster condensation would put a damper on things. IMO. Stephanie
  8. I'm sorry, I should have said what I use it for. I use the 6228 for my tarts. I have not ventured into pillars and votives yet. Thank you Stephanie
  9. I needed more ok 6228 so I called my normal supplier tristate candle supply. They said that the ok 6228 has changed its name to something I can't remember. I never had this happen so I was afraid to buy it. Then the lady told me that they have something new and it performs just like the 6228 and is also granulated and is cheaper. She said that is what they are using now. I got excited and decided to try it. It is called tri 6380 i have searched the net but i only get tri state selling it. I have been using it and have pulled the switch on a few of my long term testers so far they haven't said anything like this batch isn't as strong or they are weak if anything the cold throw is better. But because I know I switched I keep thinking it isn't as good as before. "You are your worst critic" Has anyone else used this wax yet. Do you think it performs as well as 6228. I always added 25% j50 to my batches of wax as well. I have also noticed my tops come out flatter now than before too. No more small dips that only bug me of course. There is that critic thing again. Some input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Stephanie
  10. Natures Garden has an awesome Red Hot Cinnamon. A best seller for me. Very strong too.
  11. I bought a yankme tart about a month ago for kicks. It was 1.85 each. It was a pink grapefruit and cold throw was ok hot throw was no way. It was a waste of money. Never again will i buy a yankme tart. I do want to try a candle so I can show comparison at my next show.
  12. I use to buy the poly pro bags from C&S and individually wrap my tarts with colored ribbon to match the seasons but that was too time consuming. Now that I have much more customers and go to more shows I have been using the small wilton bags at walmart in the craft/bridal section. They hold each tart nicely then i fold bag over and secure with a round label with tart burn instructions along with the name of the scent this works well for me. Then they choose which ones they like and they don't have to commit to buying more than one tart of the same fragrance unless they want to. Stephanie
  13. Pumpkin Crunch Cake from NG is awesome and a best seller for me year round.
  14. I use 75% Ok6228 and 25% j50. My tarts pop right out and lasts for for an entire day or sometimes more. Depending on what scent I use. I try to use stronger bolder scents. If i don't get at least 12 hours I do not carry that particular scent on my list. Stephanie
  15. NG's Pine Forest is strong. Will have to wick up though. Perfect for Christmas. I never tried JS. I stay with NG just about all their scents rock! JMO.
  16. I hate when someone says their candles are triple scented. Sometimes I get a little fragrance leakage on a few of my heavier scents using 1-1.5oz I couldn't imagine putting 3oz of fo in. The way i understand is most factory companies use about 33% if that in their candles that is why they sell them so cheap and the customer is always disappointed. I know i was that is when i decided to make my own candles. Thanks to a good friend who steered me in the right direction Thank You Mindy. So when someone uses the 1oz per pound ratio they say triple the scent to make their product sell better. But sometimes adding too much scent binds the fragrance and then you still can't smell anything at least that is what I have heard.
  17. My best seller is a 10 oz dodecagon jar it is a very nice classic look. I like to make jjs personally they burn beautiful for me and they always look so cute with a hang tag and some ribbon. I sell mostly tarts though which suits me just fine because i could make those all day if i had to. Stephanie
  18. I have to warn you making tarts is addicting and once you start it is so hard to stop. I started practicing with mini muffin tins and use 6228 needs no additives however now I add about 25 percent j50 for better scent throw it give me smooth tops and no more wrinkles as well. You will want to try so many different scents. I am always adding something new to my scent list. Happy tart making!
  19. I have a wholesale order of candles and tarts in lovespell and just tarts in pink sugar, honeysuckle, passionate kisses, red hot cinn., sweet pea, coconut cream pie, pumpkin crunch cake, vanilla cream, lavender, creme brulee, dreamsickle, voodoo romance (my own creation), and about five more that i can't remember now. Then Sunday we are taking the kids to Idlewild Park for my husbands company picnic.
  20. I do not want to discourage you because you may be in a better location and have much more attendance. Last year I went to the county fair in Green County which is in Pa. My mom was living about 2 miles from there. I set up a cute country looking stand with tarts and container candles. My spot cost 125.00. It was very small said 8x10 but after you add two tables and a candle stand not much room let me tell ya. I was in one of their buildings with other vendors. Luckily there wasn't anybody else selling candles or I really would have been screwed. I made 40.00 my first night and i made even less the night after that. What upset me was the fair started on a Friday night and ended the following Saturday but we could not set up until Sunday afternoon and then no one was to buy anything until Monday afternoon. I mean we missed the first three days of the thing. Anyway me and my husband sell swords and daggers as well. Those were popular with the teens and younger adults. It wasn't until the weekend we actually stated to make a little money. I sold about 300.00 in candles and 350.00 in swords and daggers. Some people didn't even know what a tart was. If I were to do it again I would choose a better location and carry some tart burners. If it is a well known fair with lots of people than i would go for it. Only reason i did that particular one was because it was close to my mothers house so i did not have to drive back and forth and i never saw people selling candles there. All and all it wasn't worth it for me not for a whole week. Anyway good luck and hope you do great.
  21. I use J50 for containers and 0k6228 for tarts and votives and both throw awesome. Stephanie
  22. This is awesome I was getting ready to go to another place and order them. Thank you so much for sharing. Oh yeah i used my paypal account and was not charged shipping. I only ordered the 9.99 deal as well. Thanks again Stephanie
  23. They look very nice and i bet they smell great. I would buy them. Good luck Stephanie
  24. I bought some cute frosted votive glasses for my sister's bridal shower. It is the 2.5 oz one from cudge.com. I want to use j50 so it looks neat and does not fall out of the votive holder. I am doing half lilac and half pearberry. I have 36z is this going to be too big I am making 70 of these and I hope to get some repeat business. I want them to last as long as a standard votive is suppose to. Should I add some 0k6228 which I use for tarts to my j50 to firm it up. maybe 25% 6228 to 75% j50. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Stephanie
  25. Nobody knows where i find this fo? Do they even make it yet?
