  1. I get mine from candle science, they are reasonable on shipping too. I am in eastern pa and get them in 2 days. steph
  2. I have landed a very big fundraiser with a ball league of 8 teams over 200 kids. My question is for all the people who do the big fundraisers is there a certain routine or process that will make it easier to get it done more smoothly. I have plenty of help.
  3. I get mine at candlescience takes two days if i order before 3p. Plus they have great prices on my waxes. JJ's are 3.99/case and lids are 12 for 2.29 or I buy 144 for 22.00 somewhere around that amount. That way if I spot jars in a store than I have rustic lids to match and not a canning lid, I hate those lids. Also I live in Eastern Pa as well and Early American Candle Supply has them and lids are 10 cents a piece. They are in Allison Park which is about hour from my house. When I am in a pinch all else fails i go there for supplies. HTH Stephanie
  4. Not sure how much you pay for them but I see them at my local dollar tree and candles and supplies use to carry them I believe. HTH Steph
  5. I find the 10 oz dodecagon jar makes a nice fundraiser jar. I sell them myself for 8.00 and for fundraisers I suggest they charge 9.00. They went over so well I had many repeat customers buying that particular size and still paying the 9.00. They thought that was a great price. Of course they were even happier when I gave them back the extra dollar. Some people were buying one of each scent. Also I design my brochures as a trifold and I used Microsoft office to do it. I took it to the printing company here where I live to see what they would charge me. It was actually cheaper with him on printing aspect. He told that I did a wonderful job designing my brochure he said he was impressed with how even everything was. With Microsoft you cannot make a mistake. Steph
  6. I use 10 scents with the 10 oz dodecagon jar. Makes for a nice container candle. I found out if you take the time and give them a sample of each of your fragrances it can increase sales dramatically. I use small souflee cups and pour about half full than you can lid them throw them in a large zip lock baggie and hand them out. HTH Steph
  7. I use 6228 with a bit of j50 and a 44-20-18z and I usually burn 3-4 hours than let cool than relight. I get 16 sometimes more hours give or take that way. Steph
  8. I just mixed NG Sexy as Sin with Strawberry Passion. This is definitely a bedroom fragrance. Third day in tart warmer. Smells awesome. Steph
  9. I use black cherry bomb from NG it is awesome hot and cold. Sells year round. Stephanie
  10. I have been wanting to try that one also. Bought at my dollar tree. Haven't gotten around to testing but I think I am going to make time. I use J50 and zinc wicks may have to double wick. I think three maybe too much with my wax. Stephanie
  11. Not sure what you are looking for but I did a customized vinyl banner for my family reunion we had a fifties theme and it was beautiful. I ordered it from shindigz you can design vinyl banners in different font, colors, styles, and themes. I designed one for my business and only cost me 28.00 for a 2x4. HTH Stephanie
  12. My husband "god love him" went to a yard sale and bought a 90 cup coffee pot that has a dispenser. He takes my wax and put it in the coffee pot. At this time I am freaking out because I need to finish orders and he is wasting my time. Wax melted just fine I dispensed my wax into my pyrex cups. Mixed my fo and color as usual works like a charm. Takes about an hour to melt and he only paid 2.00 for this coffee pot. I was actually going to buy a melter. Now I don't have to. Steph
  13. Ditto here. I never double wick. I use 44-24-18z with my 8oz jj. Never had a problem so far. Stephanie
  14. I use j50 1oz FO per pound of wax. Makes an extremely fragrant candle with an awesome hot and cold throw. HTH Stephanie
  15. Ditto here alot of my customers are amazed because you get the full melt but the jar is never hot enough to burn anyone. I never used j223 just j50. Steph
  16. I use j50 since I started back 3.5 years ago. Someone told me if it ain't broke don't fix it. I use 6228 and j50 for melts and the throw is amazing. At least that is what I am told. Steph
  17. NG and Candle Science are my faves. Caramel and Pralines, Very Vanilla, and Cranberry Marmalade are my best sellers right now. Pumpkin Crunch and Christmas Splendor from NG are selling well too. I am afraid to try anywhere else. Have tried Tristate and Just Scent but they seem hit or miss. Steph
  18. I hope you have success with your 60 kids. I got my total for the 60 kids that were selling and they only sold 72 I was shocked. My daughters' cheer squad sold 305 and there was 26 of them. Just goes to show that the smaller groups can sell well too. I still have a woman's bb ball team they asked for an extra week because they are having their tournaments and want to sell at the tournament.
  19. I have used 4794 when i was in a pinch and needed to make tarts for one of my wholesale accounts. It did very well the throw was awesome. However adding 25% container wax increases scent throw and gives smooth tops in my opinion. I normally use 0k 6228 but it is getting so expensive and hard to find. hth Steph
  20. My show over the weekend was the show from hell. Never again will I go out of town. It was an outdoor event promoting a haunted hospital in WV. Those people had no idea what they were doing very unorganized. For starters on the application it said min 12,000 people maximum 50,000 so I really brought my A game I made several thousand tarts and case after case of candles for this show. I might have seen 2500 people. To make a long story short it rained the first day all day and it was so windy and cold. I made 21.00 my first night I closed up because the rain was so bad. No one was buying anyway. But everyone said how good it smelled. I went to get my room earlier that day and while I was gone the wind took my canopy and it put a hole in someone elses tent. I felt so bad luckily all she wanted was a candle in return. Saturday I made my booth back plus my motel for 2 days. But it was cold and about 40 degrees. Nobody really showed up til dark. Most wanted to buy but wanted to do the hospital tour first then buy so they did not have to carry it. But the place stayed open to 2 am and i was too cold to wait on sales. I'm still out my gas and food I spent while I was down there. I talked to other vendors and they didn't do well either no one said they were going back next year. Top it all off my mother in law went with me to help. Now I need a new ez up. I did get 2 nights of well deserved sleep at the motel. When I came home I got "I told you so" from my hubby. I hate when he is right. Next day a friend of my husband works with said his sister was intrested in a wholesale account I had let her put a candle in her salon and she said the ladies went crazy over it. She came down and bought a bunch of things for her salon. I know I had plenty to offer. Anyway now I have plenty of stock for other shows. Plus I have 410 candles to make for my fundraiser so I guess I should be thankful and let this be a lesson learned that you don't always have good days and that you have to take the good with the bad. Thanks for hearing my vent. It really was a bad weekend though.
  21. That is what i thought as well. I gave both to a few testers and they all chose the PCC.
  22. It's about time you cut back on the fos. How are the kids. Call me I tried to call you the other day. Steph
  23. Candybee you said it there. I use my kitchen counters for my work space and I am finding that my pots and candle supplies never make it back in my closet anymore. After Christmas my hubby is making me a room in my basement just for me. Then I can have my house back. Steph
  24. After 3 years I am finally seeing some profit. I go to shows as much as possible and have customers daily. Now I am doing fundraisers. I am finally making a name for myself in my town. One day i hope to have a store but for now my kitchen and basement are just fine. Steph
