  1. Sounds stupid but I get the white two piece wick setters that you push the wick in place then pull out the wick setting part and it leaves the centering tool. Well I use the stem part of the wick setter because they wash off and they are long enough. They look like giant white swizzle sticks. They don't work well in 415 soy so I had to find a use for them. lol
  2. You can email Gateway foods and Kris will send you a 3 pound sample for free. They carry all the GB waxes. 415 is probably the easiest to work with. 444 is nice if you want to pour hotter and expect more throw, but I have been working with 415 for a couple of years and haven't noticed a dramatic difference between the two in throw. 464 you will notice because the hot throw isn't as strong. Curing is a preference between chandlers. It's nice to smell them after they have been sitting a couple of months in an air tight container. But a lot of people who test don't have the time to let them sit for two weeks and I haven't seen any of the product information that states to do so. If you look on top of the Vegetable Wax board it will show the Golden Brands post. It lists all of their waxes FO load percentages. (That was in reply to Ladysj quest about pp%)
  3. I tried the Summer Melons. Its very light in soy yet a nice sweet melon scent. Please post your results when you test these. I have been using JS a lot lately and the martini scents sound intriguing.
  4. A chart should have been sent with the wicks. Their is no exact place where to start. That is the frustrating part about their wicks. I haven't been in love with them for containers. Not a strong hot throw compared to the braided wicks, but they do work great in pillars, votives and tealights.
  5. www.candlesandsupplies.com/ is located in PA and their beads are $4.50 per pound.
  6. Millcreek is my supplier and I love their wax. Don't forget to try some of their FO's they are great in soy!
  7. Personally I wouldn't want it to leave a protective film. It means its not absorbing into the skin and preventing it from breathing. That is good if it is absorbing that means you accomplished what its suppose to do. That is the whole point of an emulisified body butter. Body butter's that are not emulsified usually leave a slight film.
  8. I don't understand where they would be able to trademark flower names. That would be like tradmarking "Lilac" or "Rose". Perfume names I can understand. I try not to use a lot of the dupes for that very reason. But for bakery names "sugar cookie" nobody can have a trademark on, then they better sue Betty Crocker and Better Homes and Gardens.
  9. I use peaks in 415 didn't have a problem. Even colored it a light faint green.
  10. Peaks watermelon is strong but it smells to much like candy not a true watermelon. I would sample around because everyone will have a different sense of what that scent should be. I do know I was smelling some YC's the other day. Their particular watermelon was good and true but not one of their stronger throwers. I was quite intrigued.
  11. I never heat up the tins. Since they are an alloy they hold the heat almost instantly. I use 415 and I don't heat up the jars because it is poured so cool. But with the blends its best to warm up the jars because you want it to cool slowly not rapidly.
  12. I have had to wick up with both 464 and 444. If you use Cd's its generally easy to get a feel with those wicks so it won't be that difficult to establish the size. I did like the hot throw better in the 444. It did flow through the room. I had to check the 464 periodically to see if the wicking was off because I could never smell after about an hour.
  13. I am going to have to concur with you Breanna. I just tried the 444 because I was curious about the throw. Breanna is right the throw is much stronger with the 444 than the 464. I wasn't that impressed with the 464 at all. It was another hit or miss wax when I poured. If it was too cool in my house forget it it wouldn't set and I still had to go over it with a heat gun. Maybe it warmed up or too much in transit or its a bad blend. I would call the supplier.
  14. I use 415 which is similar to EZ soy. CD-18 works perfectly and so far it has worked for every FO.
  15. I agree if you are using the tins just use straight 415. There is no need for BW with melting pots. MC's fo's are strong so maybe the BW is hindering it a little. I have awesome luck with MC's waxes and fo's and I use the tins too! Try it without the next time. The tins hold heat a lot better so if its smoother tops your looking for just pour at a slushy stage and they set up pretty smooth.
  16. If you don't order that Birthday Cake you are crazy that is one of the best! All their coffees are great too, you have to try some.
  17. Peaks peach is very strong and is pretty good.
  18. Right here! I use the gladware or you can by the bags at the craft stores that you can use for chocolates. I have had no problems with scent. It will tend to absorb the scent but it won't steal it from the wax.
  19. I am so going to have to agree with you. That is my special FO. I give everybody a Birthday Cake candle on their birthday. And they all love that one. If my hubby is real good I make him the Birthday cake melts and combine it with the Buttercream melts. I haven't come across one as good as MC's.
  20. You have to try their Fudge Brownie and their Razzle Dazzle Raspberry Truffle. I cannot get enough of those two. Lilac and honeysuckle is wonderful. Hyacinth Chula and Orchid is good. The Berry Lemonade is good. But It can get overpowering at times so it doesn't require a high percentage of scent load. Their coffees are great too!
  21. I tested some out yesterday. When I first poured them the first one I poured at 135 and it sunk and flaked. The second one I poured which was a rectangle jar I poured at 120 and it was a little smoother but again it sunk in the middle. The third one I poured was another smaller rectangle jar and I poured it at 110 again it still sunk in the middle. Needless to say I had to hit it with the gun the next day. I thought I had a perfect top when suddenly I noticed the cracking. It looks almost like I used beeswax instead of 444. I have to say the throw is great. The wicks tend to mushroom a little more with this wax but I have to worry more about the cracking after I smooth out the tops. Briana how is storing this wax especially when it's colored does it frost all over like 415 does? That is my biggest problem. If I store it for a while and open it up its all rough on top and frosted looking. http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n83/stacienevel/DSC_1580.jpg http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n83/stacienevel/DSC_1579.jpg
  22. Its funny you should say that because I am looking for contemporary and all I find is country jars. Are you talking about Mason and Ball jars? I know Aztec Candle Supplies and Candles and Supplies carry some pretty rustic and country looking jars. There are many others but I remember these off the top of my head.
  23. Here is a link for both of you to look at that I have noticed many times on this board. www.greenleafcandlesupply.com/ they are suppose to have a pretty good 70/30.
