  1. I am curious if the scent throw for container palm wax is strong? It's so pretty but I thought read a post way back that it doesn't have a strong hot throw. Is this true. I know with the pillar version it varies.
  2. You could try every blend out there but there is not guarantee of frost issues with every pour. Room temperature while pouring and storage sometimes promotes it even more. And no that is false, A lot of people would regard scent throw over appearance. There are a lot of chandlers on this board who sell big regardless of frosting. They just explain that its the nature of the wax which it is. You could max it with scent but remember those waxes are already tested in the manufacturer telling you how far you can overload. People tend to think they can go further and that isn't true. Check on Golden Brands on this board and it gives you the fo load of each wax. GB 444 was tested with the highest fo load and candlescience does sell it along with GB415 which I enjoy. So you could have your hubby pick up some samples from them. Everybody has to do what works for them when it comes to soy wax. It is unstable and that is the challenge but if you play around enough you get the hang of it.
  3. OMG its called the Frango Mint diet and its a body wash. My sister bought it for me for x-mas as a joke because I am a chocoholic. I literally want to guzzle the bottle down. I would love it if they made a dupe for that scent because its scrumptious.
  4. I have JS and its okay their Lilac Honeysuckle is great though very sprinlike and pretty. MC has a good lilac. I would imagine Peaks would too I can't think of too many florals that are weak from them. Did you try NG their florals are pretty strong too!
  5. If I was a consumer I would buy them. Its simple yet it tells me it is a quality product.
  6. I was just going to test it on a 6oz tin for now which I generally use the CD18. I want to see how the wick burns. The CD12's are for a silouette retangular jar by anchor hocking. I just want a round about estimate to start off with since I have tried every wick but the LX as ironic as that sounds. I use GB 415 soy no additives.
  7. Birthday Cake and Razzle Dazzle Rasberry Truffle because they are calorie and fat free!
  8. Does anyone know what size LX is equivalent to a CD 12 and a CD 18? Those are the two sizes I use for tins and my jars I wanted to try an LX out. I didn't want to waste one by guessing. I know a lot of you use the LX's.
  9. Thanks Breanna I will try and hunt down a sample. I like the 415 for making chunkies and swirling the dyes but I admit even I get impatient.
  10. Breanna I was just wondering does it frost? Is the throw as strong as the 415. What temp do you pour it at. I was having problems with the 464 because my house was always too cool and I couldn't get a perfect pouring temp. Jason posted that the scent load was higher with 444 than 415 would your nose tell you the same? I love 415 but when I am not doing creative stuff and want to just color it and pour I need something easier. I gave up on the 464 because it wasn't consistant with a lot of FO's.
  11. You can use the leftover wax. You wouldn't use a pillar/votive brand so container wax is perfect. You can use whatever wick you fancy. Standard tealight sizes don't apply to soy wax they fizzle out. You just have to test what size wicks work for you and what wick type you like best.
  12. Try the GB 464. Its pretty simple. I was using beeswax but my house always runs cold so it was pulling away from the jars and cracking no matter how much I lowered the percentage. I finally just gave in.
  13. That is what makes me think there is a USA in it. Some container blends will throw awesome when cold but as soon as you burn it the smell is gone. Usually with 100% soy chocolates throw pretty strong.
  14. That lady is paraphrasing. I am sitting hear with a Beanpod leaflet I picked up at Hallmark. It strictly states! Bean Candles are made from soy beans grown by American farmers. Enjoy many beautiful colors and fragrances and feel good about burning environmentially friendly candles. *Clean Burning *Made from 100% Stabilized Soy Wax *Not a Soy Blend: No Paraffin is used *Long Burning *Our Tempacure candles insure a long lasting fragrance *Vibrant Colors *Biodegradable *Made in America; Support Americas's farmers. They are manufactured by Soy Basics, LLC As far as tempering. Soy wax is like chocolate. Chocolate has to be tempered to have a smooth appearance. Jason from GB told me that the waxes react better when tempered. So that is somewhat legit they just reword it to make it more appealing. My guess is it is 100% soy with a USA in it. I rather enjoy their candles. But I am looking at the Cucumber Melon right now and it is bright red. The cold throw is great but to me it has the same surface on it just like GB 464 when it hardens perfectly. Not that, that is bad.
  15. I was wondering if you need stearic acid if you have polawax when making a emulsified body cream or butter? It says you don't but I notice almost every recipe asks for it.
  16. I know Geekrunner worked with the particular wax a lot. He would be the one to ask. I haven't seen him on the boards much though. Maybe PM him and ask him. He has tested it quite a bit.
  17. You still have to sterilize cuticle nippers. Either with UV or barbacide.
  18. Are you talking a container candle or a pillar or votive? If your asking about container yes, I do!
  19. Let's put it this way suzy. If its too hot to pick up then your wick is too high. Sometimes I don't even push to a half inch to be on the safe side especially if its a thinner guaged glass I would rather it be 1/4 of an inch. Not to overstep you Meredith, I was just testing a libby jar I picked up at Michael's last week. It was the same size and width as my regular jars. The only difference was it didn't have graduated top and the glass was thinner. It was the same shape as a madison jar. I wicked it the same size and it burned a lot hotter because again it had direct air flow unlike most jars. The melt pool was too large and too hot. If I would have marathon burned it. It would have shattered from the heat. She is right those are the largest size wickes and if you used those then it is time to double up. I actually like the double wicking better even in my giant house because it throws it further. I wouldn't even try the USA until you have tried 415 on its own. You pour it cooler but you have better control over the top. You can overdose with USA and lose throw that way. Try some of the 415 use about 1-1/2 oz per pound of FO. Peaks and MC's FO's are a sure thing throw with 415 so test with one of theirs.
  20. Suzy PM Jason with GB and tell him your situation with the 444. He has tested every wax himself and can guide you to what you may be doing wrong. GB is a great wax. I am concerned you may not be wicked up enough. You said you had a slushy melt pool and you have to shoot for a clear one. How big is your flame when you burn? If its burning but rather small your wick might be small. You could be over saturated in FO and underwicked and you can't pull too much scent that way. To be quite honest premier wicks are not strong throwers so try the other wicks again. CD's and Eco's are great throwers usually. Give the 415 a try you just have to pour at a slushy stage which is usally around 99-100 degrees. I love that wax.
  21. JS has the berry lemonade. YC calls it raspberry lemonade or something like that. I was just smelling it the other day. I have JS and really like it. Vanilla Lime is another scent that was awesome I would like to find a dupe for that one.
  22. Those are so cute. I would totally buy those if I was a customer. Elle is right drizzle those babies and make them look like desert! Especially for easter a nice light pink, yellow or purple.
  23. I'll tell you I ordered Buttercream from Lonestar and it smelled more like butter than anything. I usually order from NG. I didn't want to use it because It smelled too buttery and not sweet at all.
  24. I don't think so. When you remelt it you are just tempering it. Its kind of like chocolate. I am always remelting mine because I am so busy off chasing a kid in the middle of pouring. I have noticed the more I remelt it the better it turns out. Jakalex whats up?
  25. You guys have inspired me to order it. But I agree. I couldn't picture giving my son's teachers a candle called Monkey Fart's. I am going to put a room spray in my bathroom with that name and see what people think. They will think it's some kind of trick fart spray! lol
