  1. I have a background in skin care too! Olive oil is a positive oil for your skin. Some of my best teachers were old school Italian and they had beautiful skin. Their secrets were old remedies and to start at a very youthful age. We tend to take our skin care for granted and don't practice until we see that first wrinkle appear. http://www.soapnuts.com/noncomo.html Here is a link of comodogenic oils to not use in your soaps and moisturizers. For added help Tea tree oil, peppermint oil, lemon oil, oatmeal and glycerin are all wonderful for acne but you have to use in moderation. You can find some sites that offer salacylic acid to incorporate into your cleansers or creams that dermatologists actually hand out for acne and they work great but again can overdry if overused. That happens to be the key ingredient in Proactive. Teenage skin is hard to battle because it is %100 hormones the same with some of us that still experience PMS outbreaks. No amount of cleansers can prevent it but we can treat it when it happens. No dermatologist is going to agree with the animal tallow concept. Here is my theory. If it clogs your arteries it clogs your poors too!
  2. I think either one would do the trick. You have a label on the outside that visually describes the scent so it still could visually stimulate the senses without the color.
  3. That candle is really cool. I can't help drawing my attention to Dr. Doom's avitar. Its kind of distracting. Eww Gross! lol
  4. I actually love the Ingredients in Kimberly's shea recipe but would like to emulsify it. I am stumped on what ratio of water to oil and how much E-wax. I only have polawax and I do not have any stearic or other emulsifiers. Any suggestions?
  5. Dani, thanks for posting their site. They have a lot of lotion making supplies to choose from. There prices aren't so bad either.
  6. Does anyone know if OT's flavorings are presweetened. I ordered some an can't tell and I don't want to use them yet they are not. I tried emailing her but she didn't reply yet. She must be really busy because she is very prompt with emails. I know some of you use it. It doesn't say on the website if they are or not.
  7. There is totally nothing wrong with using bases. Just remember if you plan to sell them make sure it is good quality. Because you are selling yourself through your product. You want people to like it and come back for more. And be sure to educate yourself on the ingredients to back it up. Its not very cool selling a product and being clueless on the ingredients. Its like selling Arbonne and not knowing a lick about skincare.
  8. I have a date with some body butter and lip balms. Just received my order from OT and ready to go. I would love to dup BBW body butter's texture and consistency but less greasiness. Emulsified of course!
  9. There scents are very good. You should try Razzle Dazzle Raspberry Truffle its yummy! Berry Lemonade is good. Their Coffee's are really good. Chocolate Fudge Brownie. Banana Taffy, Serendipity, Cherries and Cream, Lemon Almond Torte. Look them up in a seach and pull up the past threads. You will see a lot of feed back on them. They do well in soy. You can also call and ask what scents work will in what particular wax you work with. I like them because they have a lot of unique scents instead of the typical YC,BBW and CC scents.
  10. I use a lot of their scents too. The only one I ever had problems with was Sugar Cookie, Toasted Marshmallow and Mac Apple. These do not throw well in soy. My husband is in love with their Baby Powder. And their Amaretto is wonderful. Its very strong. I can get an awesome cold throw in pillars and votives with that one enough to fill a room without lighting it.
  11. I had a simlilar problem with a FO supplier in FL. I think it was called Fragrance Witch or something like that. Amazingly someone on this board a while back referred me to her. Anyway I ordered about $50.00 worth of discontinued VS scents. She sent them two weeks later in bottles that were already used that had another FO name on them. They were not even the right FO's. I tried to contact her and found out she shut down three days later. Buyer Beware! That is why I usually stick with this boards recommendations because I am not in the mood to try a new small unknown supplier who might rip me off because I might rip off their heads.
  12. Did you guys notice off to the left one of the ads? The very first one after the Candletech menu?
  13. Not up here. Nuscents prices are too high, you would be better off paying for the shipping. In Downers Grove there is Fancy Candle Jars but I would request samples first to see if you like the jars.
  14. Those are great! I have to ask can you use whitened beeswax to make those if you wanted too? I haven't seen to many around. I would love to try those eventually.
  15. You know I have have noticed a slight variance in strength with certain FO's. I store mine in my candle room which is in the basement usually in a cool dark area and I make sure they are tightly capped. I have noticed some of NG's running a little weaker so I decided I am just going to make those particual FO's into candles and just store them. Then when it comes that time of year they should be nice and strong! I have some I made two years ago and when I open them the throw is great, as long as I have them tightly sealed.
  16. It's funny you mentioned that because I was looking at those and thinking the same thing. I would call Wick It and ask if they offer a sample pack. I know they do for the 700's because they sent me one for free.
  17. I actually offer both. It depends on the jar. I use the 415 and when I do color it because my candle room is a little on the chilly side to store them they frost up. So I decided to swirl them with dye. Or do chunks. Its seems to be catching peoples eyes more for those that like color. I must admit I am a naturalist myself. But when I walk into a store and se a big colorful, chunky candle I have to pick it up and smell it. Grubbies are my worst enemy, can't resist them.
  18. It's kind of intriguing because you know Ya**ee doesn't honor ethic.
  19. I can't believe somebody actually still like's Jovan Musk what a blast from the past. I would try www.tayloredconcepts.com/.
  20. I have to agree with you it is great. I just bought some BBW body butter in black raspberry vanilla and it is identical. I use it in room spray and on the family couch. lol
  21. My favorite is JS Razzle Dazzle Chocolate Raspberry Truffle. Can't get enough of the stuff and very good hot and cold throw in Soy. I also use it for scent beads in a sachet. Its so strong I don't have to put the sachet in front of the vent. Its strong enough that when you open the car it smells like a desert.
  22. There is one benefit of soy over paraffin and that is the clean up is a little easier. Soap and water usually dissolves soy wax if dripped or to clean out containers and pouring pots. Paraffin tends to get a little sticky and builds up. So that is another consideration to think about. I have always been an overachiever so I automatically go for the harder things to accomplish. It can be a pain to work with but I am trying to establish an ecologically safe household so I opt for the renewable resources. I will say I do love some of the candles Donita Hoyer makes and it hasn't been done yet with soy.
  23. Beck I love your FO's and I am burning Cherries and Cream you sent as a freebie right now for you to send vibes to get better.
