  1. Fern-Marie look up www.aromaweb.com/ and see if they list anything for you to go by.
  2. Tia, if you must know a long time ago minors use to take canaries down to the mines to test if there was carbon gas emission in the mines. If the birds died that meant their was. Birds are hypersensitive to carbon emission's which burning candles do give off. So my guess would be don't burn anything around those birds.
  3. Yes, Jennifer it is. I use MC and on the box they have a big 415 printed on it. They are reasonable in price and I absolutely love their FO's I haven't tried one yet that doesn't throw well in soy. I have 464 too but I still prefer the 415 because it has a better hot throw. I tend to get candle nose after while from the 464.
  4. Pink is more of a straight up perfume smell. Pink Sugar has a cotton candy base to it that is subtle and really enhances with warm water added to it such as salts or scrubs. I use it for body butter and get requests for more.
  5. I was using RRD's for my pillars and decided to try premier because they were burning off to one side to much. I had to many blow outs because of it. When I use them in containers they reallly mushroom, so I gave up on them. I have used every wick myself and found that the CD's don't mushroom or burn off to one side at all. The premiers have very little problems but they just don't throw off as well and their are over 30 different sizes to choose from. But I would still consider them for pillars or CB's.
  6. Hell yeah! you better put some in there. Business is Business there is no competition with these businesses. It just promotes your product even more when people see it all over. I have a tourist town that is a little village full of shops and it has Old Virginia and Yankee's in almost every shop and they are all separate business' next door to eachother. Never turn a vendor down if its legit. As corny as it sounds I have bought some awsome gel candles in small town gas stations. Women especially tend to browse when they wait in line for gas.
  7. As a matter of fact you can use microdermabrasion to your face. Which is equivalent to a sugar scrub. You just shouldn't do it everyday. You still need to exfoliate the dead skin off of your face which can clog your poors. Yes it will irritate your skin but if you top it off with a light moisturizer with a glycerin base in it, it will calm it down and not overactivate the glands. If you are over prone to breaking out then limit it to once a week for scrubbing and emphasize that to customers. If you are oily make it every two or three days. Yes you still need moisturizers for oily skin but non-comedogenic moisturizers. I believe on www.soaperschoice.com/ it does have a reference list of what oils for soap and cleansers are poor clogging. You have to be just as cautious with clays and Tea Trea oil too because they are just as drying. These are great but those literally should be used once a week because Tea tree oil and peppermint can literally burn your skin. Make sure you thoroughly research EO's because you can do some harm to your skin if the concentration is not right. There are a lot of sites that give you imformation on skincare naturally. I have worked with skin care for a long time and I can honestly say sometimes the home remedies are the best ones. Look up www.makeyourowncosmetics.com/ they show some great things. If you are just looking for a product then look up Miessence products or www.onegroup.com/. It will pop up a product like Arbonne or MaryKay. But it is all natural and organic and it is better just find a vendor that sells it. I cannot say enough good things about them and I use there formulation for oily skin. I am finding a way I can make my own version with the same ingredients. I do not sell this stuff because I am not a multi level marketing kind of gal but this product comes from Australia and they take their skincare a little more serious than us Americans do. Most of our organic and EO's come from down under.
  8. If I am correct its the 10oz apothecary jar? So its the flatter wider one? I would try to double wick with two CD 12's to start because those are pretty wide jars. There is no way you can single wick those with soy wax anyone who tells you different must have a pretty special trick up their sleave. Then work your way up. I use 415 and the melting pot jars which are pretty wide too. The 10oz jar in that style I wick with a CD 20. The 16oz I double wick depending on the FO between CD12-CD14. With soy if the diameter is over 3 inches it is usually double wicked.
  9. Lisa what is the melt pool depth on that? It's hard to tell. It looks kind of deep.
  10. I have noticed considerable differences with soy and burning in temps below 70 degrees as opposed to over 70 degrees. I can take a 16 oz jar of 415 soy with 6% FO with two CD12 wicks and if its over 70 degrees in my house it will burn beautifully. Now if the Temp falls under 70 which in most large houses with a lot of windows and wood floors such as mine. It will have hang up and the same wicks will start to putter out. I have tested and tested and get the same results. Soy wax is more tempermental to wick during the winter. I have spoken with others that have the same problem. That is what stinks about working with 100% soy instead of a CB. But I prefer the challange. It is just not cool making an overwicked or underwicked candle period, but we are our own worst critics! You are right though Robin people are just careless when burning. I know I have bought Y***ee's that have tunneled easily and created a lot of soot so not every candle can be perfect everytime.
  11. I imagine it is a mold. My mother in law use to do chocolates and she gave me some heart molds with a lid that if you pour escess wax would have that same effect. The problem is wicking them. To do the lettering their are two ways. You could coat the letters with the colored wax before pouring but then you don't have any guarantee that that wax won't melt out. When we use to do chocolates we would do the raised lettering by hand and take a toothpick with excess colored and just go over the lettering with it. Nobody knew any better. It would be the same with wax you just have to work faster.
  12. I would swirl it with brown and green for grasshopper pie. Ooh grasshopper pie sounds so good right.
  13. I have a whole box of 1312's sitting doing nothing because I was told the same thing when I first started out. It doesn't even reach to 3 inches in soy wax and that is using a 16 oz cascade jar. So CS is wrong. The only thing that reaches sometimes farther than the 1312's is the premier 700 series the 798, but that tends to be iffy in certain jars and air flows. Its not the wax either it just happens to be that way with Soy wax. It burns a lot cooler so you need a hotter wick. That is why people double wick because it burns hot enough. Don't think there is anything wrong with double wicking with a 16oz candle you can still get 30-35 hours of burning. It happens to throw a lot farther in bigger houses too. I have a 4000 sq ft house and I can smell a double wicker all over with the right FO.
  14. I will have to 100% agree with MC's Birthday Cake Buttercream-NG Chocolate Chip Cookie-NG Chocolate Fudge Brownie-JS BCS-Whipped Cream Lemon Almond Torte-JS Key Lime Pie-Peaks Extreme Vanilla-MC
  15. Unfortunately you will read on this board anyone using soy and wicks a jar larger than 3 inches usually has to double wick it. It's not so bad really. If you have Eco' try two Eco 8's or 10's for that size jar. You have to test to really see what size and type wicks accomodate any jar you use. I use 415. I like Eco's but somehow I found CD's easier to wick with.
  16. I know this may be kind of late Lindsay but I order from www.glorybee.com/ they have most of those ingredients and offer them in Organic form.
  17. I was wondering can you use beeswax for an emulsifier in lotions or butters? I want an all natural that is Paraben free. Any suggestions? I was also thinking of Guar Gum. Has anyone tried this?
  18. Glory Bee is pretty cheap and they specialize in it. www.glorybee.com/
  19. Well that depends if you are using Eo's or Fo's. I think that is a great idea considering burning a sinus candle will probably irritate the sinus' more. I make a melting pot of 1/2 oz of eucalyptus, 1/4 oz of spearmint, 1/4 oz of peppermint. That is per pound of EO's. They all act as a bronchodilator so to speak. So don't be discouraged by them. If you want to kick it up a bit more add some menthol to it. What ever you do, do not use vicks. It has to many other unwanted ingredients that should not be used with heat or a flame. People tend to look for short cuts that way. I use this remedy for my kids when they get respiratory infections or bronchitis. I also mix lavender and spearmint and melt that when they get over the flu. It freshens up the room after someone has been laying sick in bed for a while.
  20. GB 464 has its moments when it just doesn't throw well. I use it once in a great while when I need to pour quicker. But I personally feel its throw isn't as strong with FO's as the 415. Otherwise I just use the rest of mine as chunkies. I use NG and Peaks and it throws awesome in the 415. I personally think people when using soy should try both a CB and 100% that way they get a feel for both.
  21. This might sound stupid but I use tealight cups for pots. If I don't like it I wash it out and use it again.
  22. I am so cheap. I could be a multi million dollar movie star and I will be the one buying candles from people like us because I want quality not a name that all the other stars are buying. That Madonna and Elton John candle are insane to me. I am married to a Jewish guy they don't go out and buy Kabbalah candles they only buy those little cheap paraffin candles to put in their menorahs. I will not pay $65.00 for grease in a glass with a parfume scent. I have seen those candles up close that is exactly what they are is more oil instead of wax. Its almost like vaseline.
  23. Look how much this candle costs! http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P170520&categoryId=S400&shouldPaginate=true
  24. I nursed four kids and was a member of Laleche in Schaumburg Illinois. We recommend Lansinol you could get it anywhere Target, Babies R' Us anywhere that has baby supplies. Alos recommend the nipple shields. It takes the edge off of the pain until they heal. With my son's they sucked the hell out of me until I bled. My daughters were easier on me.
