  1. Wow thanks all of you it appears I have some samples to be ordering. This will be a nice reason to try some of these companies that I haven't yet.
  2. This ought to be fun...get these soaps tried out in a timely manner...LMFAO great way to hide out in the bathroom and get much needed MOM time...I love to just get in the tub and soak, but with a 9 and 4 year old they don't let me do that very often. Now I can just say leave me alone mommy is testing these soaps...LOL
  3. LMFAO.....This has been so fun...I have all these bars sitting here. The kids keep asking if they can use them...I said ummm...you better let mom be the first one to try them, and then have at it. My daughter keeps asking me when we can get more they all smell so good. We absolutely loved Mags packaging and the hole in the soap just makes it all that better!! Though I have to say everyone did a wonderful job.
  4. It may be possible since many of us are no longer using certain suppliers that their order amounts have gone up and thus it taking slightly longer. I know that there are only a few suppliers that I deal with due to the shipping price issues.
  5. I am soo glad you said that... I was looking at their site since that is where I order most of my scents from...I wondered though if it was possible to mix those two scents together...guess I will order some samples and try that out.
  6. This is exactly what I was going to tell you. They get their stuff from China and it has to go through customs...sometimes it takes longer then they anticipate...but overall it is usually only 30 days wait time. I think if you plan your orders accordingly with that in mind you should not have any trouble.
  7. I have a customer that is looking for a lemon scent that will cover odors such as cooking, smoke...etc. Any suggestions...I searched but couldn't find anything that I was looking for. I really want to get a good thrower since this lady will continuously order. Her husband only smokes in his room and she says it smells like a bar. TIA
  8. Technically you can be sued for anything...whether the customer breaks the jar and cuts their finger, or burns their house down...or in fact if your candle is faulty. It is sad to say, but there are still frivilous(sp) lawsuits out there and more and more juries are believing the plantiff. It only makes sense to apply a warning label, at least if you have one applied it will look much better on you if you ever have to go to court. That is why you see everyone say test test test...and test in a fashion that you believe the customer will use your candle...marathon burns, not clipping the wick...etc.
  9. I would never sell yourself short...$5.00 is just not feasible..if it costs you 2.75 to make a candle
  10. I didn't have any trouble getting into their site, but here is their # so you can call in your order if you want to. 1-800-359-0944
  11. I was not referring to the liability issue....my point was you can tell them to do something a certain way and they are not going to follow directions, but if the candle just fizzles out without the topper it won't cause the damage that an improperly burned candle can cause...the jar getting to hot and cracking...etc. I think you read just a little bit to much into what I was saying;)
  12. If you are looking for a % according to Jason at GB it will hold a maximum of 8%. Here is the thread where he talks about the 415 http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13266 HTH
  13. I have not had a problem at all getting my orders within a week, usually it is less. They ship out of Ironwood, MI I believe, and with my order it passes me up and goes to Maumee, OH before coming back to MI, but once it has shipped it usually takes 2-3 days for UPS to deliver.
  14. I am testing the 24 oz melting pot now and cannot get it to burn properly with two wicks whether I wick up or down. I have tried 2 HTP 83's...they drowned out, two HTP 104's...same thing...2 HTP 105's same thing...I have also tried numerous 700 series. Though I am not using the GL 70/30 I am using the 415 soy. I have also tried a HTP 126 and it falls short, and HTP 1212 also the same thing. I have not tried the 1312 yet... I am waiting on a shipment of those. I think the topper idea is a good one. If they don't follow the directions on using the topper that would be on them...just as not following directions when they burn a candle...at least this way the only damage they will have is hangup or a fizzled wick.
  15. I was not nor will I ever bash a president even if I didn't vote for him. It was an example. CC asked for examples and I put them out there, not to argue or debate over it and certainly not to talk politics. The point was that decpetive marketing happens all over the place from the makeup companies to the President of the United States(whomever he may be). It doesn't make it right but it does continue to happen. Those are all cases that I found on the internet plain and simple. They are not how I feel. I think this has been a wonderful discussion...what some people perceive as marketing strategy others find offensive and out and out lies. I would think that without clarification, or someone doing their own independent testing we will never know if her processes do infact produce a better candle or not. When I said that I believed she did not intend for an experienced chandler to shop on her site was because she has her site worded for those that are looking for the hoo ha and the blah blah blah. I did not mean that I agreed with her line of marketing just that it happens all the time, and the thought probably never crossed her mind that someone with knowledge would read her site and say WTF??? IMO it is better to be straight and to the point with the customers....on a need to know basis. I don't believe that they need to know that you pour cooler or your reasoning behind it,anyone who makes soy candles pour cooler, but her customers don't know that unless they frequently ask a ton of questions on other candle sites. I don't believe you need to explain why you have two wicks in your candles...but by god if you honestly feel that it is important information to move your candles then by all means that is your right and if you lie there will be a customer that will call you on it.
  16. Okay not to argue over this just to make it known that many companies use deceptive marketing messages to make their products look better...and I will not count infomercials since 99% of those are BS. Here are some examples besides choosy moms choose jif K'NEX- exaggerates about how fun, easy and cool it is...if you have never used this it isn't as easy as it is protrayed. Any Diet Pill- " Used with a proper diet and exercise"....HELLO anyone who has a proper diet and exercise regime will lose weight. Most cologne and perfume- try to protray an image that their scent and theirs alone will create effects that are often unrealistic...ever seen an AXE commercial. 3 Musketeers- says it is a low fat food...read the label...they lied Ford Windstar- the van in the commercial is the luxury edition, but yet they show that luxury van at the standard model price of $19,960 when in all actuality to get the van in the commercial it is $27,585 L'Oreal has been hit twice with false claims the first being their anti wrinkle cream...they stated that 76% of 50 women had results...the ASA stated that after investigation there was not enough evidence to support that it was anything more then cosmetic. Second was their cellulite cream- they stated that it was judged best anti-cellilute cream in an independent study...when in fact the ASA determined that their consumer study was limited and not scientifically(sp) evalutated. And last but not least our own president George W. Bush has had misleading and inaccurate commercials.
  17. Since you are now in TX why not go with something spanish... prodigue los lujos- Lavish Luxuries Seducción dulce- Sweet Seduction Entrega Especial- Special Delivery fascinación-alluring or in french you could use beau monde- beautiful people
  18. Honestly even though it is long winded...there isn't anything wrong with her marketing....to the average american. Marketing is a key element of a good business(I am not saying that one is or isn't). What most likely is the same formulations as we all use, is just marketed and obviously it works otherwise she wouldn't be anyones competition. Not trying to be a stick in the mud, but why are we having issues with someones marketing strategy to the public? I honestly don't believe that she intended a knowledgeable chandler to be shopping on her site. All major companies have some kind of gimmic..that is what makes you stand out from other companies.
  19. Not so far I haven't found any MJ FO's that are close...I still have to order Peak's which I am told is the closest. My dh thinks we will probably have to get a few mix them and add some fresh dirt FO to get the right smell...so I guess in order to get the right scent we are going to be chemists also...LOL We live in MI and they have a hash bash every year at one of the Universities...I want to get the scent right so I can get a booth and make some $$ off the pot heads that go there every year.
  20. I agree with you on that one. I have seen them "pop" and it isn't safe at all, but to each his own. I am making them with sawdust, wax, and cupcake liners and it appears to be a good mix.
  21. LOL when I was younger my dh had a friend that smoked marijuana, and lets say he got the stuff that was not of high caliber. Well one night he spent the night at our house and our cat ate his bag...not the bag itself but its contents...well after some investigating we found that his stuff smelt an awful lot like the box of catnip that we had to hide from our kitty. The funny thing now is I ordered some Marijuana scent from CandleChem and it reminds me of how the catnip smelled. Though the way my cat used to devour catnip I wouldn't recommend producing a candle that would attract cats.
  22. I am all for giving someone a chance, but what I think you fail to realize is that a lot of members here have given them the chance. They want to vent their frustrations to people of like mind. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you are getting great service and they are letting you know when stuff is out of stock then of course you would want to continue using them. People on here that have had bad experiences haven't just had one..they have had many...or their one has been drug out forever. I totally understand your reasoning for defending your supplier, but people do have the right to disagree. I for one do not frequent places I get bad customer service at. I was raised that from a business standpoint your customer is your greatest asset and without great customer service you will not go far. And another saying I was raised on is that when something good happens people tell 5 others when something bad happens people tell everyone they know.(My parents owned their own business for 25 years) When I get slighted from anywhere...I do not return. Obviously if they do not know how to treat a customer properly then obviously they don't want my business.
  23. LMFAO....I will take the blame for the missing wax since now I know that you are a police officer...I am just kidding...something has to be off somewhere. Retrace your steps slowly and adjust your hat often. Is it possible to have candle gremlins???
  24. Basic things can be trademarked it just depends on whether someone is wanting to pay the money....Sugar Cookie is trademarked....and Cucumber Melon is word marked you can find that here http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=ura01s.6.3
