I find myself wanting to spend tons on supplies, thank god my hubby won't let me otherwise I think I would have to find somewhere for the kids to stay and take over their rooms. I have a terrible time with impulse buying...ohhh I bet that smells good, bet that would be nice in a candle, what FO can I use with that color dye. So far I have been lucky haven't gotten to crazy, have about 8 to 10 FO and about 200lbs of wax, but I do have to say I have a ton of jars.

Thanks so much, I checked out those balmoral jars, guess that is one way to have a fancier jar and still obtain a somewhat country look to it. I gave up on the balmoral jars, I just can't get them wicked. Maybe come winter I will work on them again. Though I think I may just go for the 5 oz apothecary with the wood lid...seems I can find those everywhere.

I haven't gotten my samples yet, I am still making my list of different suppliers since I have read that they all smell slightly different, but I thought of calling it "Pot of Gold" We are testing ours for April 2007. We live just outside of Ann Arbor, Mi and every year they have the hash bash at U of M. Figure we can carry this especially for that occasion, should be a big seller and then for the few that would actually buy this FO. I did a search and saw that someone actually labeled theirs "Honest Officer I was just burning a candle". It was all I could do to not bust a gut..now that is what I call being creative..LOL

My daughter is coming home from a trip to Florida, so we will be making some containers that she is donating to her class basket for a family fun night, testing the new 4 oz apothecarys that I got with some cherry vanilla FO and premier 700 wicks. Besides doing the easter bunny thing and the family dinner thing.

Those lighters were recalled for not having child safety mechanisms on them. Not sure if they fixed that problem or not, but those are kind of neat. Would go well with candles.

If you are leaning towards selling wholesale I would wait and see what your customers are ordering. If one isn't selling then you can eliminate that FO. If you like them all there is no reason to drive yourself nuts trying to elimate a few or so. Let your customers help make the decision. If no one wants your leather FO why carry it. Maybe this makes sense, maybe it doesn't. I started with about 8 FO's and have only been adding to my line when a scent is requested that way I don't get crazy ordering FO's and end up with over a 100 scents. I have a few that I will be ordering, just because I want to add a few new ones to my list, but I tell customers that I have a list to add requested FO's to and if there is a good amount of customers that want this scent then I will order it and add it to the line. I also will get a scent and make special orders, but they have to order a minimum amount. So I could see that working in reverse to try to minimize your amount of FO's. Though the more options you have the more options there are to make the sale.

Hi I bought 26 of these jars from the classifieds, they arrived and I think they are so cute. I emailed the person I got them from asking where she got them so that I can purchase more, but have not got any response . So does anyone know who might carry these jars. I have been searching sites til my eyes cross and can't seem to find them. TIA

What kind of wick are you using? There are some that are made to curl, like HTP they will curl to one side.

Strawberry, with a creamy scent. I did a search on Strawberries & Cream and noticed that many of you dislike this. Do you have any other suggestions of something similar or a mix. I have a dentist that wants to place a big order for this and of course it is one thing that I don't have. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think some of those scents would sell at adult toy parties, but my god some of them sound more like turnoffs then adult fun. Who in their right mind wants to buy a candle called fart in the wind...sheesh

Go to the stores and look at the dupes of perfumes. I don't use that scent yet, but I would think you should call it your own name and then put something like" our version of Coolwater cologne" or however the dupe perfumes have it. That way you are in the clear.

you could also try cooling under a cardboard box this may help.

Never thought of that you can get soybeans and the silicone and make your own mold. That would be neat.

Is it possible to use something like a raisin embed mold, or a coffee bean embed mold for those, I have never seen an mold for soybeans. It may be possible to contact a manufacturer of the molds and see if you can get one custom made.

I have all the time in the world...I have plenty to play with allowing her to catch up. I don't mind paying, but I know how it is to underestimate yourself. It has to be extremely difficult to try to take care of all those orders, plus her everyday orders. I'm still testing the 464 wax from Golden Brands, so testing the 70/30 can wait so that my dh doesn't kill me. I am already starting to drive him nuts with the different waxes that I have.

I use a notebook and then transfer to my computer and back up on disc. That way if something happens I have backups so not all my hard work is lost.

There is nothing wrong with being prepared for an emergency. It is the people who go crazy trying to stockpile, purchasing massive amounts of things, building bunkers, etc that I think most people are tired of hearing from. I was reading the newspaper and it was discussing the fact that so far this year there have been 268 tornados and last year in the same time frame there was 70. So far this year most hurricanes have been devastating. I can't condemn anyone for being ready, just think some go way overboard.
