  1. Okay, I think I am confussing myself. When you measure your % for your FO would that 16oz be melted 16oz or 16oz of wax flakes that would melt down to about 8oz? I need help. Thanks
  2. I am still pretty new at this but I use the Cargil C-3 and I am not having wet spots. I guess it was dumb luck. I Keep checking to see but I have poured the candles two weeks ago and nothing. Not sure why I am not getting them but I will tell you what I did. I mixed it all, did not heat jars (didn't know I should at the time). Poured at 170-180 and left them on the counter. I didn't bother with the temp of the house (again didn't know I should be concerned). Beautiful creamy tops, not wet spots, and no frosting. Not sure which part made the difference.
  3. Thanks guys for the help. Since I posted I tried burning the candles again and bam! Great Scent! I guess they need to sit about a week. I order my scents from Windy Hill Candle Factory in New Jersey. They say they only sell "Keys" which is the strongest you can get. When I was making the sugar cookie candle my husband could smell it while he was mowing out back by the field!
  4. I want to thank you all for helping. It's nice not to recreate the wheel. Tera
  5. Thanks Bev! I thought that was the place you were talking about. We went there also and it was a joke. Did you see the candles? They were horrible. I will check into Bittercreek. I am really surpised we don't have somewhere close to us. You know this means I might have to set up shop Tera
  6. Sherri, Can you send me the contact info. for your jar lady in Indiana? That would be great! Thanks, Tera
  7. Bev, Where in St. Louis did you find a supplies? I have been looking and only found one place and they were, well lets say not so great. Tera
  8. We are also looking for an affordable glass distributor. Can anyone help? We had used The Jar Store but shipping is hurting us. Any suggestions? Thanks, Tera
  9. We are in Southern Illinois, metro east of St. Louis and can't find a wax distrubutor anywhere near us. If anyone knows of a place to buy soy wax please let me know. Thanks, Tera
  10. We are just starting out and have been trying different things. We are using Cargil C-3 also and we are having problems with no scent. I see you said you are doing great with your scent. What is your forumla for the scent? How much are you using? Does it fill the room. For us is smells great when we are melting and pouring but when it cures and we burn nothing! The manufacture we got the scents from say they are keys and don't use carrying oils and that is the best you can get so that is not the problem, so they say. Not sure what direction to go w/o spending to much money to scatch it all. Any suggestions would help. Thanks
  11. Would someone please send that to me also. byhisgrace@charter.net Thanks, Tera
  12. My kids and I just started our candle business. Really it's there way to earn money. We already have orders and stores that want to carry our candle line. But we are having the same problem that Sarah had. The scents smell great in the bottle, wonderful when you are making them and then when you go to burn them, nothing! This is what we are using and doing. Cargil C-3 Soy Wind Hill Candle Factory- Scents, 1/2 oz - 1oz Lonestar Candle Supply - soy wicks Lonestar Candle Supply- liquid color The Jar Company-containers mix it and then pour once it's to 170 or so. They pour beautiful, no bubbles most of the time I don't even have to pour a second time. No frosting or anything, just no scent! We have orders we can't fill because we only want to put out a good product. Please pass on any information. We don't have money to throw into excessive trying of things. They are on a tight start up budget and have already spent almost $400.00 in supplies and sold nothing yet. so I am trying to help them out. What are we missing. Thanks, Tera
  13. Candle Wealth is just a soy candle and you can rub soy with the scents right into your skin as well. Tera
  14. I checked into Candle Wealth, in fact I went as far as called and spoke with the president of the company. They by far have the best Boysenberry scent I have ever, as a matter of fact the best candle ever I have smelled. As of right now it was just a test scent and not available. Anyway, they have it set up so you would need to have people under you in order to get your supplies at an affordable price. You get discounts toward your orders based on what the people below you do. According to the president the cool wax is a by product of all soy wax. As a matter of fact I just stuck my finger in my (Cargil c-3 soy wax) and it was cool to the touch and rubbed right into my skin. I hope this helps. Tera
  15. You write an employment contract specifiy that this information is proprietary (might have mispelled that) information and if you are really concerned you can add a non-compete clause. But you can certainly add that for 2 years after working for you they can not contact or work for any of your customer list. Hope that helps. Contracts are real popular in competive industries.
