  1. I would have to think you could use a degreaser and a scrub brush attached to a broom handle or a push broom then mop it up. Though I don't know you, I can't imagine using a torch and paper towels can be good for you. Thats alot of time on your knees.
  2. I believe there is a law against someone giving away a company's trade secrets. Also it is always best to have a non compete clause in your employment contract. You also need to interview and research anyone that you are thinking of hiring. Ask for references (business and personal) and follow up on them. Unfortunatly there are shady people out there. If someone gives you an uneasy impression don't hire them. These are your secrets and you want them to be for you..that is unless you care to share.
  3. I have the chart and it goes by diameter of the container. So here goes I will give you the #'s for 2-3 inch and up. 2-3 inch container: WI-735 WI-740 WI-745 WI-750 BOTH 2-3 INCH AND 3-4 INCH WI-755 WI-760 WI-765 WI-767 3-4 INCH CONTAINER WI-770 WI-775 WI-777 WI-780 WI-785 WI-790 WI-793 WI-795 WI-798 HTH
  4. Did your 3 oz come with a lid? We got some 3oz votive holders that are quite similar to the metro jar, but can't find a lid to fit them. I have both sets from the Jar Store and Fancy Candle Jars and noticed that the 8 oz bottom from fancy is not as prodominant as the one from the jar store.
  5. I agree please post this...it would answer so many questions for people and the fact that you are seasoned when it comes to wholesale accounts that makes it even better.
  6. Honestly I would say to be on the safe side consult an attorney. It may be possible to offer the same label without the contact information, or possibly place it on the bottom of the jar. You can say manufactured by***** and give contact info there, that way your info is still on the candle, but yet the wholesale acct has what it wants. To me that would be a win win situation, you are still keeping a client, they are still getting a product, and might I add one that the labeling is not hacked up. There has to be some kind of medium that you two can come with. Heather
  7. Thank you so much Top... that is what I thought as long as I have my formula I can just write down that I added #blue chips and # pink to come up with who knows what color (this is just an example I have never mixed the two together to see what it comes up with) and as long as I consistently use the same formula and # of chips I will get the same candle. ETA: Thanks Crafty... sometimes I think faster then I type. LOL I meant that if say I am using french vanilla FO I will compensate on my color for the golden color FO, but that every time I make that batch the amount of color would be the same to the ratio of FO and wax.
  8. I know this has been discussed before but everything I searched didn't really have an answer. Here is the ? if I am making a 16oz batch and I am using 6% FO, my figures are .06*16=.96 FO, .94*16=15.04 oz wax do you have to add in the figure for color chips? This is confusing, once these are gone I am going to liquid. If I do need to add the color into the equation how would one go about doing this? I am using GB 415 wax if that helps any. Thank you for any help you can give me...this is just driving me nuts. Heather
  9. I go to Gordons Food Service and get the solo cups granted you have to purchase the cups and lids seperate. I use the 1oz cups they come 250 per pack and the lids come 100 per pack. They are cheap. I got 250 cups and 300 lids for under $10.00. Heather
  10. I know right now that Southern Scentsations is testing this wax also. Hopefully they will carry it, they are within driving distance.(Keeping fingers crossed). Heather
  11. I would check some of the other label websites. They charge certain fees for setup and depending on how many colors. You could get an idea from what they are charging. Then you can sit down and figure out exactly how much it is going to cost you to produce the private labeling. Your materials, your time, etc. Heather
  12. Okay I got my sample and have poured one candle. Heated my wax to 185 added dye(vanilla color block) added french vanilla at 175 let cool poured at 135. Oh guess I should of said I used 6oz wax and a roly poly jar. Cooled under cardboard box. I got a nice smooth top and minimal frosting just on the top. Great adhesion, and cold scent throw. So now I am just waiting to burn and make some more candles in other containers. This is nice wax..I have to say that if my testing continues like this, I will certainly try to find this to purchase.
  13. Wooohooo got my wax today...now its time to test it. Can't wait to post my results. Heather
  14. That is awesome I am glad you came up with something that is all you...I checked out your site, that is cute, gives it a personal feel.
  15. I totally understand what you are saying and where you are coming from, that is why it states that without the wick, dye, and fragrance part the wax itself is edible. Which it is, not to much difference then crisco. People are going to do stupid things with products no matter what you say, or don't say. There is never any reason to apologize for your opinion that is just that your opinion, I'm sure that we all have our own technique for doing things, that others may not agree with..that is why we are all different and that is what makes our products different from others.
  16. I would try going to wick n clip and getting their free samples. I just received mine and I got about 25 different packs with about 8 wicks in each. To me that was awesome. I got about 200 tester wicks for free. If they work I think I will go with them, their pricing isn't bad either, you do have to buy them in 1000's though, but if you find the wick your looking for to use in those jars it might be worth it. Heather
  17. That is so neat. Did anyone know that Southern Scentsations carries a FO called Tribal Nights....I got it from someone who was selling off their stuff.. I can't stand it.. http://www.greatcandle.com/ here is the description: A delightful harmony of smooth, rich leather notes and cinnamon spice To me it smells like you bought a new car and they sprayed it with cinnamon fragrance.

  19. Thank you for posting... I was really looking for who did the one with the potato on it. I think they were from idaho..hence the name, but I saw something very similar on another candle label and wanted to compare, especially since the other candle label has already been found to plagarize someone else. I just didn't want to put anything out there unless I was sure. Thanks, Heather
  20. I offer what I call a "surprise bag" for the "younger patrons" it contains treats, and little games. I order them from oriental trading( I try to find the cheap things in lots) and make goody bags. I do have a sign that does say To our younger patrons: With parents permission ask us about our "surprise" bags. I am a parent of a 9 and 4 year old and many times that we have gone to craft fairs etc. I have skipped over booths that didn't appear "kid friendly".
  21. We have a disclaimer kind of sign it states that our candles are made from 100% soy wax, wick, dye, and fragrance. That without the addition of the wick, dye and fragrance the soy wax itself is edible and can be used to fry things such as french fries. Its kind of a joke between me and my husband, but is a good advertising technique. People sure ask alot of questions...and since my husband tested the theory, we can honestly say it doesn't taste very good, but it certainly is edible...LMAO Heather
  22. I am looking for a thread( I have searched both this site and the archives) looking for a thread where people had posted pictures of the labels/logos. If I can remember correctly there was a cartoon girl one, one that had a potato holding a sign or something like that. Does anyone know where that thread can be located. I am driving myself nuts trying to find it. TIA , Heather Edited: I am not wanting this to copy anyone's idea. There was something specific that I am looking for that is related to another post.
  23. You could try Marck and Associates they have anchor hocking and libbey amongst other things. They also have a warehouse in Toledo and somewhere is CA. Here is the link http://www.marckassoc.com/ their website is kinda hard to use with my samples they sent me a catalog on cd, but if you email them with what you are looking for someone will respond. They will also send you samples of their product. You can call them too if that is easier for you here is the number 419-478-0900.
  24. I am currently working on my website and I am looking for a template or webset that isn't prim. I am going for a not country look. Anyone know of any good sites? TIA Heather
  25. Thank you Crafty_1, I didn't mean anything by the soy benefits line...it really was just a joke how much can you really do with that. It is all the same basic information no matter how it is worded. I am currently working on my website and I too have tried really hard to stay off other candlemakers sites for that very reason...though I do catch myself when someone says check this out, I just can't help it...LOL. Let me tell you I sure do love thesaurus.com I want my site to be just that mine though I have to admit I am terrible with words, so once I know what I want to say I find key words and look for alternate words that are more customer friendly, but still yet on the track of the sales pitch. Please don't get me wrong, what happened was terrible, but I think it could have been approached in a different manner. JMO,maybe I am just to nice of a person for this line of business.
