  1. I give customers as little information as possible. I tell them I get my product from many suppliers and they range from the west coast to the east coast so unless I went home and went through all my pages of research I couldn't possibly tell them exactly where I got that exact scent from. Usually once you start talking about pages of research it tends to be a mute subject...LOL. I honestly try very hard not to be impolite about it, since I am on a quest for more knowledge every day, otherwise I wouldn't come to this board and I remember when it was me on the other side of that table wondering how it all comes together.
  2. I just got my sample of them from Fancy Candle Jars and compared them to the ones I have from the Jar Store they may be slightly thinner, but not enough to make a difference. I priced getting 1 cs 8 oz and 1 cs 12 from both companies and Ron's were 10.00 cheaper(that included shipping to MI) So he certainly has my vote. Heather
  3. You could add an "s" to that if you want, your name should reflect you. It is your personality. I would add it if you plan on carrying more then one product, but again it is totally up to you.
  4. No matter who had it first, that is a bummer. I feel bad for both of you. One of you got your wording stolen, the other got taken for a ride( and not only by her sister). It is hard when you are starting out and relying on other people to help you. I guess now I will really pay attention to who I hire and have help me design my site. There is no room for plagarisim, but one would have to think, how did all three sites have the same layout and info?? I would contact DIY and let them know about the situation, cause what I was reading is that once you purchase the webset it is sold so that everyone is original. Maybe I just read that wrong and between the lines it stated that all is free game...lol who knows. Think maybe I will go get creative with my wording of the soy benefits.
  5. That is really awesome to see it go from sketch form to a finished product. I would have to agree on the font too though.
  6. I believe it is just the natural beeswax honey sent, you can purchase a pair of candles that they make there on their website under the section of Greenfield Village Crafts..they are $6.00 a pair. You could use them to compare the scent, they dip those candles like 40 times. Here is the link: http://www.shopthehenryford.org/
  7. 1. London Lemon Curd- Velveted Lemon 2. Brown Sugar & Fig- Sugar Kissed Figs 3. Black Raspberry Vanilla...couldn't think of nothing but fruitnilla 4. Drakkar- besides MMM...MMM.. Good! LOL, Lust
  8. I think maybe using an indian scent would work, I would make the dixie cup votives with an indian scent and colors(may take a little internet research to find info about Florida indian tribes) That would take care of the Florida theme and a little history while you are at it. You could use something like sage, sweetgrass etc
  9. You could go with the formula above as a guideline, but I would measure it out to be on the safe side
  10. Okay but when you make candles don't most of us work with liquid. I know the Fo's that I have ordered say they are by weight not volume and that 16 oz of dry wax will not be the same once it is in liquid form for soy it is more like 18 and paraffin it is 20 Though the original poster did not specify whether she was using liquid or not, I posted stating that I was giving her the conversion for liquid.
  11. Well I would like to find them for about $5 if I could, but am seeing that between $6.50 and $8.00 seems to be the going rate. We want to be able to purchase in bulk, and at those prices its going to be a bit much. I want to put them in gift baskets with tarts and be able to keep the basket price reasonable.
  12. I am looking for a good wholesale supplier for electric tart warmers...any suggestions??
  13. I have to agree with the 1/2 oz since the ratio is 1oz per 16oz, it would be 1/2 oz to 8oz, and 1/4 oz to 4oz. Using 7oz of wax is slightly under the 1/2to 8 ratio but it is close enough.
  14. Honestly I would say try another wax, your in TX there are several wax suppliers out there. Maybe even one close enough to go to. You will find that price per pound you will get a better deal from a supplier and they usually have great customer service and if all else I am sure someone on this board has used their wax before. If you plan to make candles to sell you will surely want to find another wax, because once you break down how much it costs you to make the candle..using wax from Michaels just isn't cost effective.
  15. I missed out on sample, but glad to hear that she will be doing it again once she is caught up. I have read so many great reviews and would love to try this wax. I am very impressed by the way she has kept all of you informed on the progress and the fact that her whole area is about to be without USPS boxes..lol. Though I can't justify ordering 10lbs yet, since I am a stay at home mom my "funder "said "not without trying it first" I tell you he can be such a pain. I even tried showing all the raves about this wax. I am a patient person though, so hopefully the sample will be offered again and they don't change their minds. Customer Service is one of my factors in dealing with companies, to me it doesn't matter how good their product is if their CS stinks and with all of what I have read this company is one on my list to try.
  16. I agree with the previous post. Though if you are using liquid and you are going with 16oz in a pound 1/4= 4 ounces which would be 24 teaspoons. I went to this link to convert ** I am not saying this is guaranteed just that is what this online conversion table stated. http://www.onlineconversion.com/cooking_volume.htm
  17. I emailed Ron Friday at about 6pm and by 7pm he had emailed me back and said that the samples will go out Monday...I was sooo impressed. Its to bad they don't have the other jars I'm wanting to carry..yet. I'm sure they will add more styles as they get more customers. Heather
  18. Honestly it probably never left the warehouse or it came in after the truck that delivers your route had already left the terminal. Did you track it online or just call to check on it, most of the time the CSR's have not got a clue. I would certainly contact the company, if what you were told was true, they deserve to know that their shipper dropped the ball.
  19. I have found that here in Michigan there are quite a few that charge 395.00 and more for three day shows, but they are indoor and at major expo centers, but on the flipside I have seen some outdoor ones charging 100.00 for their booths, hope you don't need an electric outlet cause that costs more and tables..I understand that we are all in this to make money, but with some of the fees I have seen you would have to sell a ton to make any kind of profit.
  20. You could try doing a search either on here or google, the candle cauldron has a suggestion page for candle parties, like games and what not. HTH
  21. That display is three different parts put together, I didn't see where they have discontinued them, they just don't sell it as one whole set. The following is copied and pasted from the paragraph above the displays. Each piece is designed to fit with other pieces in the line and multiple displays can be used to create your own custom configuration depending on your booth/store size. Below are some pictures of configurations that were be created by adding different pieces together. (This is on the candles and supplies website) **giving recognition to who it belongs to.
  22. Thank you so much for posting that...that is an awesome site. We have been looking into site hosts and I think we might just go with them too. I will have to get your information so that I can tell them you referred me so you can get 1 month for free. Heather
  23. I use the Golden Foods 415 and have not had any major problems, nothing that couldn't be fixed with a little blast from the heat gun that is. I get mine from a supplier out of Michigan, but like geek said there are alot of suppliers carrying it they just rename it.
  24. You know I agree with the whole illuminations issue, but my 9 year old daughter came up with the name and since we don't really have any business clientele yet..if it flops..we'll just come up with something else, but I was just sooo impressed with my little girl!! Well I guess she isn't so little anymore coming up with ideas like that..lol
  25. Okay maybe this would help a little I added an attachment of the pic I was thinking of using. Heather
