  2. I got this soap cutter from connie's for $3 on sale http://www.conniescandles.com/colorssupplies.html It's very basic but works!
  3. I take Visa/Mastercard through my propay account and have paypal for anyone that wants to pay using another credit card, e-check or instant transfer. I also have a check/mo option but I have never had anyone pay wiht MO. I have only one customer who pays with a check regularly. By far the majority is visa/mastercard.
  4. You are using 3/4 of a pound of wax, so just multiple your oil 1.75 x .75 and you will get 1.3 oz. If you were using an amount of wax that wasn't such a nice number what I do is divide the amount of oil I use per pound by 16 to find out how much oil per ounce of wax, then multiple by the number of ounces of wax used. For you that would be 1.75/16=.109, then you can just multiple .109 by the number of ounces of wax you are using (.109 x 12= 1.3 rounded down). It's a little easier that way I think, at least for me it is. I hope this helps you and doesn't confuse you more!
  5. Carmen I have seen the molds for these somewhere but can't remember where. They are silcone or latex just tiny little cavities. They have the overflow channels so you just pour into one spot and all of the cavities fill in, then just pop them out. I'll try to search and see if I can find the molds again but its been at least year since I've seen them.
  6. The eBay link that Jeana posted is for Matthews Wire wick trimmers, you can buy them wholesale at www.matthewswire.com I also have the cleancut sets, they are very nice!
  7. I have about 45 scents in my line. I try to have at least one of each scent at shows. I also take my sniffie sample case with me in case I run out of a scent, so the customer can still smell and place an order.
  8. I do private label orders as well, I have my company info on the warning label on the bottom. Alot of companies, especially large ones don't want your name on the front label at all, just theirs. Either you or the distributor need to have their contact information on the labels though, that's a requirement.
  9. I used the mold with HP soap, lined just the bottom and ends and had no problem with warping or getting the soap out. Worked great, thanks for your help everyone!
  10. I have used Sam's Wrap (wal-mart brand) and Saran wrap on soaps and tarts and I have had no problem with the scent being sucked out.
  11. For my big jobs I skip the presto pots and use an 18 quart electric turkey roaster. You can get more wax into it at a time. You just have to dip the wax out for your pour pot.
  12. My business name is Fox Hill Candle Co. Our farm is Fox Hill Farm, so it was pretty easy to come up with. I use pictures of the foxes on our farm on some of my product labels.
  13. Thanks Eugenia! I am so excited to try it out now!
  14. Go to http://www.thesage.com/calcs/lyecalc2.php anduse their lye calculator. You can plug in the oils you have and it will recalculate your oils based on the size batch you want and it will give you lye and water recommendations.
  15. Crisco is soybean oil, which is what 100% soy flakes are. I would advertise that you could eat them though, you know some dummy would try eating candle and get sick and end up suing!
  16. I just got a martha mold (the one with three rectangles) I searched and read that I need to line it. I read that CPOP will warp, I was wondering about HP. Does anyone know what size batch this mold holds. I think the formula for that was l x w x h x 0.4, is that correct?
  17. I just recently started using new labels that I made myself, the ones I had before were designed by my logo designer and printed professionally. If you re-label all of your old candles (especially 600) you are basically wasting the original cost of those labels (not to mention your time in doing all of that extra work). At shows I put out candles with the older labels and try to use those up first. I don't think it looks horrible to have two different labels, I would rather do that than loose the money I spent on the original labels.
  18. Mablewhite.com and marthawhite.com. I want to try their emulsoy emuslifier for lotions/cremes but I have heard that others had problems with them but nothing specific. I was wondering if anyone had any input.
  19. I have used them for plastic containers, and their 4 oz. straight sided glass jars, we also order beer bottles from them for my DH. We have never had a problem with quality or service.
  20. I use wick stickum's and use an empty pen barrel to stick them down the same way Beth described using a straw. With the pen barrel you can put enough force on the tab to make sure your stickum sticks.
  21. If you can buy those tips individually they will fit on the $9.99 one.
  22. I have gotten five or six emails like that over the past year or so. I always just delete them. Pretty much everything like that from Nigeria etc. is a scam. If they continue emailing me I just tell them I don't ship internationally and delete their emails.
  23. Where does everyone get their fish for fish in a bag soap? My niece's are going to be here this weekend and I thought that would be a fun project for them!
  24. I found the greatest gadget for filling my lotion bottles! After thinking about the questions on here on how to fill bottles with thick bases or with lotions after they have cooled I thought about trying a cookie press. I got one at Michael's for $9.99 and picked the cookie dye that had a hole in the center and used masking tape over the other holes. You just fill out the tube and put the top on, line up the hole over the bottle opening and squeeze the handle. It was so easy, not messy and fast. I've been using ziploc baggies and pastry bags and they are a mess and I always have problems. I am very pleased with the way this one came out! This is the cookie press I got... http://www.wilton.com/yearbook/productinfo/comfortgripcookiepress.cfm I used the dye second from the left on the top row that looks like a flower.
  25. I poured some last night around 10 and some more this morning around 6:30. I have a fan on the floor to help cool me off. My candle room isn't attached to the house so I can open the windows and the door and turn the fan on and at least get a little air flow, however, our house and buildings all have aluminium roofs so it can get warm in their during the day!
