  1. For some reason I am picturing a victorian type scene, it reminds me of a glass powder container that my grandma has. Like a lady with a parasol smelling a rose or something. I have a slightly overactive imagination.
  2. I used hangtags when I first started and didn't like they way they held up in packing and moving during shows. They fell off or got bent too easily. I switched to sticker labels and love them. I put the scent on the jar label and the warning label.
  3. My setup is basically the same as Trae's except that I allow them to run the party up to 2 weeks to get everyone in. I also offer the party participants a 5% discount if they place their order through my website themselves, that way I have a head start on orders. Most of the catalog participants do the website ordering. I give a turn around time of two weeks for products but with the website ordering I have had everything ready by the day after closing on my last two parties.
  4. From your description it sounds like you are only filling up your car with the actual product, which is what most of us do. tents, tables, coolers, etc take up way more space but are necessities for outdoor shows. I don't do outdoor shows but for the shows I do I take approximately 20-30 cases just of candles. I use crates in my display so I pack them as well with whatever I can get in them. The big show that I do I set up for the night before and then I take more stuff with me the next day, little odds and ends and my necessities bag. I don't think you're taking too much, most of us take as much as we can squeeze in.
  5. Thanks Tabatha, I will send your risers out tomorrow...its not a problem. I am just pouring what I can every day. I wicked 4 cases of jars while watching CSI tonight so I could keep up tomorrow!
  6. Oooh that looks like strawberry cheesecake! Yummy! Looks like you did a great job!
  7. I actually went ahead and gave him wholesale pricing even though he only bought half cases of 3 sizes and then the last two 16 oz. candles I had made. He is a very honest and trustworthy person and he doesn't charge outragious prices to fix things. He fixed our busted water line for $310 and the cheapest estimate from someone else I could get just to bring a backhoe in and dig the hole was $225, that didn't include actually fixing the problem or refilling the hole. He actually dug the hole by hand (about 15 feet by 4 feet deep) because he said it wasn't worth it to haul the backhoe over from the site its on now. He has done other work for us too, so I knew I could trust him. Michi, if he gets a truckload of those jars I'll be sure to send some your way...there is no way in hellI can do a truckload of candles without taking a month off from work!
  8. I have ordered from them once, their warmers are the 4" type, most of the bowls aren't too big though, maybe 2-3" across.
  9. Way to go Jane, taking all of that stuff paid off!
  10. Way to go Carmen! Your products are awesome, I know you will do great! But just in case here are your good fundraiser vibes! :bliss:
  11. I did get the office cleaned up and got a nice little display put out. His wife didn't make it today because their dog had to go to the vet, but he came back this evening and bought 17 bars of soap, 20 candles, 6 smelly jellies and 2 tubs of foaming bath butter to start with. He said he has a friend who can get the glass jars with the hinged glass lids for $0.50 each and if these sell well for them he wants to get a truckload (yeah you read that right) of those and have me make candles for him in those jars. I told him I would have to have a some to test first. Luckily he didn't take all of my candles because I have a show next week and I was afraid I was going to be up pouring all night for a week!
  12. I make my own. For those of you who want a base Carmen's soy lotion (ebcandles) is absolutely awesome!
  13. I have had a leaky water line for a week or so in my yard and when my plumber came to finish it up tonight I gave him a bar of soap to take home and wash with since he was filthy. He told me his wife is opening a gift/thrift type store with antiques etc. next weekend and they would be interested in my candles and soaps. He bought all of the soap I had made!!! His wife is coming by tomorrow to look at the candles and other products and see if she is interested in those as well! I am so excited! Their shop is near Massanutten Resort (about 7 minutes away) and he has taken fliers up to the resort and local restaurants for their opening. I am just too excited! Now I have to make my office area presentable because I have boxes everywhere from the riser co-op! He just called me back and said he used my soap and loved it and wanted to know how many more bars he could get by next week! He also got wholesale prices on cases of candles! I'm trying to set up my office to sort of look like a showroom, putting out one of each warmer and candle shade etc. just in case!
  14. Anyone who does soy or soy blend votives please PM me. I need 6 each of the following scents: Pear, Cinnamon Bun, Red Hot Cinnamon, Strawberries & Cream, Gardenia and Lemon Chiffon. Doesn't matter if they are colored or not. I need these within the next week if possible. I have a customer who I am doing gift baskets for and she wants to add votives but I have given them up (I hate doing votives). If someone can get these to me hopefully within the next week (don't worry about cure time, they are for the end of the month, I just need to deliver next week).
  15. I package mine in 4 oz. white double wall jars, I like the double wall to help keep the butters from melting in warmer weather. I get my jars at www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com
  16. www.factorydirectcrafts.com They have tons of stuff including the things you need for your electrics. Also look for them on eBay they put stuff on their that is in their regular catalog and stuff that is clearanced. I have gotten a lot of great stuff from their auctions!
  17. I know that candlewic sells the kits at http://www.candlewic.com/Store/category.asp?catalog_name=Candle+Making+Supplies&category_name=Mold+Making&Page=1 I haven't tried making molds though. I think there are a few other vendors that sell the kits as well.
  18. I have heard good things from other boards about their stuff but when I emailed them my info for wholesale access to their website they never responded. After two attempts, I gave up and went elsewhere.
  19. I am doing a co-op on these now if anyone is interested. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5258
