  1. We used to make them when we were kids from a half gallon milk carton with the top cut off. I'm 54 now, so that tells you how long ago that was! LOL I don't remember ever trying to burn one, but it seems like with all the holes in it, it wouldn't burn very well. They would make great looking centerpiece candles with maybe some ribbons tied around them and floral draped around the bottoms.
  2. Instead of trying to combine the two colors, you could try making two separate candles; one in pink the other in blue. You might have better luck with that.
  3. I use Goo Gone to remove glue and old labels from everything. It works great, smells good, and is safe to use. Then, you can put them in the dishwasher or hand clean them afterwards.
  4. I have found the ECO wicks seem to burn a little hotter than the LX which is giving me a better scent throw in my 70/30 blend from Greenleaf.
  5. I love this wax, too! Nice smooth tops, creamy texture, no lumps or bumps. Absolutely great hot and cold throws with every scent I've tried!
  6. I usually wait at least 24 hours before doing a test burn with a scented candle. If I don't have the time to burn them in 24 hours, I wait up to 3 days. I have read, the longer you wait, the better the scent throw. Hope this helps!
  7. I only single wick these containers with either an LX20 or LX22 and they work just fine. I feel no need to double wick these jars.
  8. I use the embossing heat gun, too. It works great and the price is reasonable. Bought one on eBay for $12.99.
  9. They think they look great! I would have never guessed they were made from recycle pillars. Nice job!
  10. Yes, this is a wonderful wax and I am using this all the time for my container candles. It is so easy to work with and makes great looking candles. I have not needed to do any repours and the cold/hot throws are great. But, I do wait at least 24 hours before testing to make sure they are set up. I have even waited as little as 18 hours when I tested these and they still smell great!
  11. My daughter-in-law and her husband gave me a Yank Candle gift package which included an apothecary jar, a votive, and a candle tin. She knows I make my own to burn, but thought it might be nice to try something different. So, the first candle I burned was the apothecary and burned it just like I do my own. No full melt pool after the first burn and every burn after that. It left a huge wax hang up all the way around. After every burn, it left oil residue on the top of the wax. Never did burn the right way all the way down. Next I burned the votive which tunneled right down the middle and never did burn right in the votive cup. The candle tin did the same thing; never got a full melt pool with this either. Both the apothecary and the candle tin had single wicks which I feel should have been double wicked. Both had oil residue on the top of the wax after it cooled which I think might have been caused by the use of too much fragrance oil. The prices of these candles are quite high and to me are not worth the money if they don't burn the way they are intended to burn. I found out a month ago, our local floral shop was selling Yank candles. I didn't even bother to go look at them; just kind of grinned and shrugged it off knowing they weren't worth my time. Just because they have a famous name and cost more doesn't mean they are any good and Yank proved that fact. Even though I haven't been making candles that long, mine still burn and smell better than theirs. My friends and family think so, too.
  12. Beautiful cake! The roses really set it off! Love it!
  13. I use a 70/30 blend with the square Mason and have real good luck using one LX20 wick. I have never double wicked these; seems like it would burn way too fast if you did. Also, I use 1 oz. fo per pound of wax.
  14. Wick stickums! Easy to use and pretty inexpensive.
  15. I haven't had the chance to get to know you, either, but do wish you the best with your surgery and recovery. Sorry to see you go! Good luck!
  16. Great idea! Can't wait for them to come in! I am certainly interested in purchasing some. Thanks!
  17. I know what you mean by the Indonesian Teak! When I ordered my first slab of the 70/30 wax, I also ordered some sample fo's to try out. This was the first scent I used and could not believe how great it smelled, hot and cold. My husband (who doesn't like a lot of my fo's), liked this one the best of all I have ever purchased. So, I had to invest some money into buying a whole lb. of it. Great investment and absolutely wonderful aroma!
  18. I just love the 70/30 wax and have tried a few of the fo's from Greenleaf. Every one of them I tried had excellent hot/cold throw and burned great! The fo's I've tried are: Indonesian Teak, Magic of India, Rainy Nights, Maduro, and Hawaiian Breeze. Greenleaf also has excellent customer service and super fast delivery. I have ordered wax and fo's and they arrive pretty darn fast considering I live in Michigan. I even think the shipping prices are quite reasonable and don't mind paying a bit more for great quality products. Anyone who takes the time and puts so much effort into providing such great service is #1 in my book!
  19. I was also one of those who ordered the sample, but due to Greenleaf's many requests, I just decided to go ahead and order a slab of it just to see how good it was. I sure was glad I did; it is the best wax I have ever used! I ordered sample FO's also, and they work great in this wax. When I was getting close to running out of the slab I had, I ordered a full case of this to have on hand to make more candles. Even though I live in Michigan, I will continue to order this wax because I like this one the best. I even find the shipping costs quite reasonable considering the distance from there to here and my orders always get here faster than most places I have ordered from. The FO's I have tried that I like the best in this wax are: Indonesian Teak, French Market, Magic of India, and Hawaiian Breeze. I will be testing the Maduro tomorrow, but am sure I am going to love this one, too. They all had excellent hot/cold throw and burn great! Thank you so much, Brenda, for your excellent customer service and products! I will be back for more!
  20. I don't use the KY125, but I do have some of the 12 sided jars like you are using. I am using Greenleaf's 70/30 container blend and use an LX18 in mine. It has a great melt pool and no hang ups on the sides of the jar. I haven't tried the CD wicks; always had better luck with the LX wicks.
  21. You could also use Goo Gone (or something similar) which removes wax and all kinds of sticky things. Then, you can wash them in the sink with Dawn dishwashing liquid or in the dishwasher.
  22. Gorgeous candle! Wish I had half your talent!
  23. Great looking candle! I like the grubby look!
  24. Absolutely yummy! It's making me soooooo hungry!
  25. Variety is great! Some people prefer different styles of jars. Testing is the only way to find out which ones sell better than others.
