  1. I still have not heard back from Becky concerning the sediments in this oil. I did try the double boiler method mentioned above, but I still have a lot of floaties in the oil. I don't know what else to do except to wait for an answer from Becky. I really don't want to use this in my wax if I'm going to have stuff floating around in it.
  2. Thank you all for your comments! I've never had a problem with any fo crystallizing so I was a little concerned with these dark floaties in my oil. I will keep trying with the methods you all have suggested.
  3. I really love the smell of this and hope I can figure out what is wrong with the oil. I tried warming it to see if the particles blended in, but haven't had any luck with it. Maybe it needs to be hotter than the temperature I used. I just popped it into my microwave for 15 seconds and then for another 10 seconds. The floaties are still there. Guess I'll wait and see what Becky has to say about this. Maybe she can come up with a solution to this problem.
  4. Has anyone ordered the new fragrance oil from JS called Fantasia de Cioccolata? I ordered a full pound of this from them last week, and when I looked at the bottle, there was stuff floating around in the oil. These were real dark floaties and very noticeable! I sent an email to Becky to find out what the problem was and am waiting on her reply. I just wanted to see if anyone else on this board has had the same problem.
  5. I bought one of those candle making machines and didn't care for it at all. You can only make one candle at a time and it's not all that easy to use. I prefer my presto pot over that anytime! You can melt more wax and make more candles with the presto pot.
  6. Haven't tried any of the juice bar scents yet, but ICS does have some wonderful FO's. Their customer service is great and shipping is fast! You won't be disappointed with them!
  7. I've made some great looking candles before, let them set for a few days to a week, and the wet spots came back. Hope you have good luck with them!
  8. My carbon monoxide detector is just a few feet from my kitchen where I make my candles, and I've never had any problems with it going off. Check the batteries in all your detectors to be on the safe side.
  9. I've tried just about every big wick out there with poor results. Double wicking seems to be the answer for 16 oz. jars.
  10. I just love the country look! Nice job!
  11. That is absolutely adorable! You did a great job with this and I am sure whoever receives this wonderful gift will love it.
  12. CandleChem on eBay is a great place to buy things and their customer service is A1. I've purchase quite a few things from them. They also have their own website located here: http://www.candlechem.com/ If you check under equipment, you will find some pour pots at reasonable prices. Hope this helps.
  13. My stepdaughter gave me a Yankee candle gift package for Christmas. One was an apothecary jar, one a candle tin, and one votive. I burned the apothecary jar just like I would one of my own and after letting it set for a day, I noticed droplets on the top of the candle. I felt the droplets and noticed it was oily to the touch, so I am assuming they do use more oil than really needed. Even though their candles smelled really good, they did not burn down the way they should; tunneled down the middle and the melt pool didn't even meet the sides of the jar. It left a huge amount of wax on the sides, which I wasn't real impressed with. You would think using excessive amounts of oil would be a real fire hazard! :rolleyes2
  14. I have a Presto pot and use a simple candy thermometer. Both are reasonably priced!
  15. I always wick my jars, warm them, then pour the wax into them. As long as you don't get the jars too hot, you won't have a problem with the wax melting off the wicks.
  16. I've had this problem, too. I just zap it with my heat gun and it usually takes care of the problem.
  17. I agree with everyone else; keep the silver ones. They look much classier and if I were going to buy one, I would go for the silver ones first. Just charge a little more and you should be all set.
  18. I use wick stickems and they work great! Never had one pull loose.
  19. I love most vanilla fo's! Would you have a link to their site? I might just try a sample of that myself! Thanks! Never mind; found the link through a search. Thanks again!
  20. Thanks for the link! I found some removeable labels that can be used for storage containers or possibly for tester candles. What a great idea! Pretty good prices, too!
  21. With a 100% feedback rating, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them either. You could always order something in small amounts and try them out before spending a lot of money. That way you can get a feel of what their products are beforehand.
  22. I think your site looks great! I don't think I would change too much about it. It is one of the nicest looking websites I've seen in a long time. Keep up the good work and don't give up on it! You're doing a wonderful job!
  23. Your candles look great! Love the colors!
  24. Beautiful candles! I just love the colors and the way they shimmer!
  25. If I made candles like that to sell, I would have to hide my head in shame! :embarasse Apparently, they think they look great enough to sell, but in my mind they are the worst ones I have ever seen! Even the ones in the stores look 100 times better than those! They definitely need some courses in candlemaking! :rolleyes2
