  1. No I picked them up at the grocery store, I just wanted a sampler of several oils just to play with, great for trying lotions and scrubs because I never need the whole bottle but I want to try cp and use the oils I have before I buy more. Sami
  2. Grumpy I pm'd you the recipe. When I made my one and only (so far) lotion, this is what I did. Measured about 16 ozs water into a pot and set it to medium heat. Measure other ingredients (about this time water came to a simmer) Heated other ingred. slowly over double boiler, probably 20 minutes, didn't want to go too fast. Measured out the 12 oz water I needed and blended. Sami
  3. Bitter Creek's print catalog page has some, otherwise I just googled "specific gravity avocado oil" and it came up with several sites. This site seems to have a few oils listed with the specific gravity http://www.wellnaturally.com/carrier_oils.html Sami
  4. OK so I've got a 16 floz bottle of RBO, an 8 floz bottle of Avocado and several other oils. How on earth do I figure out how much oil I have by weight without pouring the oil out and weighing it? My brain hurts... OK I think I may have it now and just need someone to tell me I'm right lol I multiply the specific gravity by the # of fluid ounces I have and that equals the ounces by weight I have. example avocado oil .912 specific gravity * 8 fluid ounces = 7.296 ounces by weight Sami
  5. The "good" show around here is $375 for 2 days, juried. It's outside on the sidewalks of 3 connecting streets, 2 of them open to car traffic, one of those being the main street through the area. (But at the end of that street is Tiffany's, little blue boxes and all.) Sami
  6. I found some of the ziplock plastic containers to use. I got the "xs" size that are supposed to hold 8 ozs. They are the diameter I was looking for and I think 3 bucks for 5 of them. Sami
  7. I do the cardstock as well, that way I can set up my label and print a whole sheet of them, I don't know how to print onto the individual tags. I have a small paper trimmer to cut them with nice straight lines. I also found some multicolored string near the yarns that I tie mine on with, I use a star shaped hole punch from the scrapbook section so it gives a little something different. Sami
  8. My walmart has the "extra thick quilter's template" stuff, doesn't say mylar on it anywhere, but it's got I think 6 sheets for the same price as one sheet at my Joann's, so please let us know if it melts or not. Sami
  9. One of my 2 local lowes carries the roebic lye, one in a new area one in a not so great area. I also happened in walmart today and saw the drano crystals, says 100% sodium hydroxide but of course the can is sealed shut so I can't check for metal shavings. Has anyone else checked this stuff out? It's 5 and change for 17 ozs, a little more expensive but I'm almost never in lowes and really don't want to go just to buy lye. Sami
  10. I ordered from the on the 2nd got priority shipping, recieved and confirmation email that night and nothing since, then today I could smell my mail before I got to the mail box! I guess no shipping confirmation email with priority. Sami
  11. The picture in post 9 looks best on my computer. Very classy looking shots, but I do see what you mean about the label almost blending into the background. I like the pink coming in from the side, nice contrast but doesn't take away from the shot. Sami
  12. I personally don't like the Michaels base. It's ok to practice with, use on yourself but anyone who has tried other brands will notice the difference in feel and lather. If you are signed up for Grumpy's swap, the co-op on SFIC bases (that I'm running) is planned to get to you a month before the swap deadline. I've figured I can put upwards of 10lbs in a flatrate box and none of the regular suppliers will do that. If you want to order from the co-op send me a pm. Sami
  13. That just shouts buy me! I love the creamy white soaps! Sami
  14. I looked into making my own gel, and from what I read it's not just water you add, to make it a gel you need 2 other ingredients (that I can't rememeber:rolleyes2 ). If you just add water you just get juice. I figured for me it was cheaper and safer to just buy premade gel. Sami
  15. Ok just because it caught my attention while surfing the lush website and message boards. They use preservatives in most things. But there are still little complaints here and there throughout the message boards that people have recieved moldy items in the mail through them. So even the "big boys" who can afford and probably do testing can get a bug now and again. I just still don't understand their body butters that you are instructed to smear yourself with while still wet, that don't have a preservative listed. Sami
  16. I'm in norcal and between the tax paperwork and insurance nonavailibility I don't know which is worse. Sami
  17. I was wondering that too. I want something along the lines of their angels on bare skin cleanser stuff, so I've been reading the website and message board. I have yet to figure out exactly what those things are, that and their body butters are bars with exfoliators in them. Hopefully someone around here has actually tried one out. Sami
  18. While I'm comfortable doing my own for now (since I'm not selling just showing) I can definately see a need. Just the number of "how do I get a good picture" posts says people need the service even if they don't think they should shell out the cash for it. Sami
  19. (disclaimer I only do m&p) I put my shavings into a little cup by the kitchen sink to use after I finish cleaning up. They aren't as drying as the liquid ivory I wash dishes with. Sami
  20. Thanks guys, I'm pretty sure this is who I'm going to go with. Sami
  21. If I'm not mistaken yup thats what you're looking for. Sami
  22. Has anyone bought from usplastic.com? They have several items I'd be interested in and decent pricing. How is the shipping? Customer service? Sami
  23. I use msword (yep I'm weird) and make a table that's 4 columns and 4 rows all 2 in by 2 in in the 1st and 3rd rows i put all my back of the label info upside down in the 2nd and 4th rows i put all my front of the label info rightside up print onto cardstock have to concentrate when cutting out don't cut between the upside down box and rightside up box (I have no clue if that make sense) fold over and staple I also do these in 2 other sizes as I have 3 products in different size cello bags. Having them in a word file makes it easier because I could save them onto a disk and take them to kinkos to print if I need a bunch fast. Sami
  24. You could just send some to Joseph (my 6 year old) he lurves Buzz Lightyear and the little green men. lol They would look cool in slime. But I can't think of anything from the movies that you could cross over from (they were the main point in the third movie) Sami
  25. from the jar of virgin coconut oil i got in the organic section of the grocery store: for body care, place jar in warm water to liquify. Massage into skin or apply to hair for one hour the rinse. this oil is best for sauteing or stir-fry over medium high heat or because of its neutral flavor for baking. nutrition facts: 1 tablespoon = 120 calories 14g fat 12 of those saturated I've also heard of people just eating a tablespoon of it straight Sami
