  1. That is totally cool! Looks like Barbie's dress from the pegasus movie, white one way purple the other and my daughter loves it. Now if only I could sew an actual straight, straight line. Sami
  2. I have a stack about a foot high of past catalogs. Back-up for when the phone company starts twitching the internet cables. Man oh man they are the absolute reason I don't have a credit card. Well them and artbeads, you can buys onsies and twosies and free shipping. Sami
  3. It's a form of plastic I believe that comes in a clay form, harder than playdoh but you get the idea. You mold it shape it stamp it paint it and do four hundred other things to it then bake. The baking cures the clay and most of the good brands will last a long long time before breaking unless you yanno drop it or something. http://www.glassattic.com probably has a much better explanation as well as tons of links to what you can do with it. Sami
  4. Did you hit the dollar sale at michaels? Christi Friesen just came out with a new book on under water creatures I'm so wanting to get. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0972817700/ref=wl_it_dp/104-7624637-8631908?ie=UTF8&coliid=I30OPYYXRQ7ZG&colid=17NONL5H2TFTR Who says you need sleep when there is claying to be done? Sami
  5. For necklaces, almost always lobster claws, easy to use cause you can spin the necklace around and you get to use two hands! For bracelets, I like toggles but I also use the lobsters cause I like my bracelets big and I can reach them. I've been wanting to try the magnetic for a awile now, they are supposed to be greatly improved in holding and are so darn pretty now. Sami
  6. I don't know of any kind of glue that would do what your asking but if you can take it apart you can exchange it with a small split ring, like a key ring where it loops around again. They have them in the jewelry section at wal-mart, michaels or jo-anns usually for a couple bucks you get several. Sami
  7. From the name, and amount per case I'd venture to say they are carrying SFIC bases. I'll have to ask next time I order. I really like those clear shots of the molds too. Sami
  8. I love this new section. I think I try everything at least once. I've got candles and m&p, scrubs and lotions. Then we get to the "other" stuff, I just finished my first knitting project (after 3 years of fiddling with it, it's a huge blanket for my daughter almost 10 foot by 4 foot great for sharing on the couch) I do beaded jewelry, chainmaille (very expensive) I sew a little mostly pillows and dress up clothes, polymer clay jewelry containers and a little sculpture, I too have a stash of never used scrapbooking stuff, I try to be a photographer at least doing product shots, they don't move or make funny faces, and I just got some graphics/video software for xmas that I'm loving. Sami
  9. Very pretty. A neat little tip I learned about the crystals is if you don't have a lightbox setup, scan them. It keeps the glare down so you get nice up close shots that look good. Sami
  10. I just got photoshop elements 5 for xmas. It's definatly a learning experience but I have done quite a bit with it just in the past couple days, google is your friend. The software has a help file included but no books or instructions really, if you register you do get 10 free tutorials from adobe. I also bought the book "Photoshop Elements: Missing Manual" which has a lot of good info in it. I put a banner I made just playing around in the member photos section if you want to see. I haven't tried it for making any labels but for pictures it's great. I paid 119 and have a $30 rebate to send in for PSE and premiere elements bundle, so it's no where near the 700 real photoshop I wanted but I'm happy. The premiere is for video editing, my camera also takes videos so I needed something to help clean those up and it's great. Sami
  11. From reading about all the legal stuff to do with bath and body I think you're right in saying it's "your" lotion. As far as the law in most places is, you've altered a productand you're responsible for it, in some areas this is exceptable for selling in others it's illegal to sell altered products. Gloworm I made my first batch a few months ago, I converted my recipe to grams so I could easily read the small amounts. I've been using my lotion exclusively and I love it, it came out so well. I also have one bottle I marked and put away to stand the test of time, if something starts growing in it all the other bottles get trashed but if after a year it's all good and I don't see anything in my use bottle I'll call it good. (I'm also not planning on selling anytime soon mostly its personal and family use) I made a 20 oz or so batch and it filled to the top 5 4 oz malibus I got in the trial size area at walmart. Sami
  12. I do mine in a pringles can. Just wash the can out well first. I also wet the loofa to shape it, it was a little squashed, stuffed it in the can and let it dry overnight. Then I mixed up my MP added peppermint eo and tea tree poured it over the soap and banged it on the counter a few times to make sure it got in all the grooves. Later that night I just peeled the can away and used a horrible for anything else ginzu knife to slice the roll, holding it on the cutting board with my hand in an oven mitt for extra protection. It's great for the footsies. Sami
  13. http://store.wspisp.net/melroseurbanfemale/Detail.bok?no=410 That's a quick link I found to give an idea. I was looking at these as an alternative to a puff for any powders but can't get my wording right for a search. But I think I have now found every porn/bnb shop there is. Sami
  14. That's the only difference I've seen. I think it's all marketing, body wash sounds more luxiorous(I cant spell) than shower gel. Sami
  15. I use the SFIC bases. I ran a co-op not long ago and still have some left. The minimums to buy direct are 250lbs. I think Lone Star Candle Supply carries them and Cierra not sure about who else. The only other base I tried was from Michaels and I could literally see the difference. I've heard good things about Stephensons but haven't needed to try them yet. Sami
  16. Well I'm not in any rush to drive the 50 miles for a looksee, especially if its gonna be bad. But I do think it's another excuse to go to Burbank, the other being Bennigan's which I haven't seen since 1999, oh monte cristos . Sami
  17. Ok I hate to point this out but did no one check the date of that article? August 2002 I am tempted to drive up to that shop and see if they look as bad in person as they do online. Sami
  18. Well you are my most recent customer service gold star winner! I pm'd about the nudie soap and got a prompt reply, I placed my order and omg, the box got here so fast I have had to hide it so it gets wrapped for xmas and not used before. Securly packaged and in perfect order. Everything looks and smells and good as the website made it sound. I wanna be Kristine when I grow up! Sami
  19. I actually got the prettiest swirls when I screwed up. I was trying to do layers and didn't wait long enough, poured blue onto white and it broke thru and swirled. It was very cool even though I was cussing it at the time. Sami
  20. I do MP but for different reasons. One is 5 the other is 7. And the are never gone long enough! I just can't risk trying CP yet, until the little one is in full day school, right now I only have a 4 hour window of alone time and I dont want to rush. 1st grade starts in july though so I'm counting the days. But until then they like to help mommy make soap, picking out colors and fo's to use. Sami
  21. The booth that led me to research online sold theirs naked. They had a line and it took a few minutes to get to the front of the area so I could sniff. They had risers with the clear shoeboxes stacked on them, one sample of each was set out in front of the shoebox. In the shoebox was the precut log of soap. You sniffed said I want this one, they pulled a fresh one out of the box and wrapped them in white tissue paper with a printed sticker. I didn't know any better then so I have no clue what they did about ingredients lists and such. They also had no banner, signs or anything that told me who they were. I do know when I looked online about the show it was a 350 booth fee for 12x12 of sidewalk for 1 day. This was walking distance from a Tiffany's store. I don't know what they were selling for but I remember it being more than I had in my pocket and I am sure they made booth+ that day easily. Sami
  22. Yes I found the directions for pourng into glass are the same for pouring into tins. (Except you dont heat the tins) My 4 oz tins from peaks are just at 2.5 inch in diameter, I am now testing the same wicks in 4 oz glass tumblers with a 2.5 inch diameter and they work the same. The tins really don't get any hotter than glass (touching on the outside) none of them so far have been too hot to pick up and move. If it were to get too hot then I'd say the flame was too big and is prolly causing more problems than this. Jump on in and test the tins! I am much more secure in knowing that I can pop out the wick tab and retest in tins than glass, I am a little scared of glass at this point. To do mock labels (I don't sell yet) I used sticker paper in full sheets that I printed out and cut to size. The sticker paper is removable so I could play with it more and see what I liked where. Sami
  23. Dsiclaimer: I don't sell yet. I trim mine because right now I am super cheap. I'm testing 4 oz tins and the length of wick (6 inch pretabbed) left over is enough to re-tab and use. Also my mom who loves candles had never heard of the trimming the wick thing, luckily she collected more candles than she burned. I showed her the difference between a wick starting proper and one starting at apprx 3/4 inch and she was amazed at the increased flame dancing, soot and how fast the candle dissappeared. Sami
  24. Yup I got my hopes all up for something new to see, but it wasn't what I expected. Neat to see on tv but didn't learn anything new. Sami I did notice there was no plugging for brambleberry.
  25. I get mine from Oriental trading as well, I also signed up for the emails and catalogs so I can see when the sales are on. I got the beach, patriotic and teacher duckies all with matching cello bags and ordered a few more things to get the free shipping with $60 order. Sami
