  1. :yay: Congrats! I wanna see pics! (Now if only school would start so I could try it!) Sami
  2. I'd say the 4 oz tin, well it's all I've tried wicking so far. Come to find out I got it right the first time, all I had to do was embrace the film. Too bad I tried 2 more sizes of wicks and just got more headaches. Sami P.S. message board do: post a pic and say is this normal? checking account don't: buy more wicks before posting said message
  3. I use the stickums and love them. I haven't tried the dots for candles, but I've found them not to be so reliable even for craft foam. Sami
  4. Very Nice! I like the black shelving and accents on your stuff. Gives a very elegant look. Sami
  5. Very pretty! I've seen similar ones in stores all over here (near San Fran) and people just love them! My daughter calls them rainbow candles. Sami
  6. Very nice! I would definately have those for a wedding! I tried embossing on the bags for my jewelry but could never make it look right, those look so good. Sami
  7. I love the rainbow of colors! That is such a cute idea to match them really makes them pop. Sami
  8. I think those look super cool! I'm testing 135 so proof it can be done! Those apothocary jars are just too neat. So different then anything I've seen on this side of the pond. Sami
  9. Here is the link where that should go to, very good instructions with pictures! http://watersgulch.com/howtocp.shtml Here's another, she's has lot's of simple recipes and directions: http://millersoap.com/index.html Sami
  10. I've never sold a candle yet but.... my mom did flowers for 20 years, weddings included. First I would seperate the wedding stuff from the shower. That way she can more easily manage her wedding budget from personal spending on the shower, unless they are connected. I would price it as a volume order a happy medium, since it really wouldn't be wholesale, no repeat orders, and probably be priced out of competition at retail. Even if she falls under the friend catagory make sure to write up contracts and get a down payment, with that many guests she'll understand since every other vendor will have one too. HTH, Sami
  11. Oh it looks like meringue! Lovely, and I bet it feels lovely too. Question: Would the shaving soap help out guys who tend to break out from shaving (or at least in the shaving area)? My uncle has always had that problem. Sami
  12. I think it might have started out as 2 tablespoons but then some got left in the grinder and some got left in the filter. So I'd say start with that and you'll lose enough along the way. Mine only had the coffee in half the bar so you might want to consider that too. Glad to have been some help, Sami
  13. I've added coffee grounds to my m&p with no problems. But there are a couple of things to be aware of: If the coffee is straight from the can it will well brew in the soap and color it a brown color, to fix this you can use used coffee grounds after they've cooled down or just soak them for a while then drain them real good. Also the regular grounds are a bit rough, large, so I used a coffee grinder and got them down to almost an espresso grind size, softer, smaller about 4 pulses in the grinder. Alot goes a long way. I made a mocha massage bar with fresh brewed coffee FO, hershey's chocolate FO and some coffee grounds in the massage bubble part of the mold and oh man you could just eat it. Washes real good to! gets rid of garlic smell on the hands. Sami
  14. Good question! If I'm not mistaken you can actually up the amount to the maximum wax load (example-12% or 2oz per pound for ecosoya 135) since there is no open flame, but I may be wrong. Sami
  15. I just got the digital from Wal-mart, I tend to convert to grams anyway, no fractions of decimals (flunked math.....twice). Even the cheap models seem to be quite accurate in grams. Sami
  16. I can't tell if you guys are talking about lighters or the sticks you attach to a match to light with. If it's the latter, I make my own, using heavy gauge craft wire. You just put the end of the match between two loops of wire and then strike it, and you can reach the bottom of the jar. I wish I had a picture but my sister and her crew cleaned me out. I also make matching wick dippers so they can be sold as a set. Sami
  17. I made some a little while back and it's done somewhat the same thing. It was nice and rich and creamy and now it more foamy than rich. It does still feel the same just appears different. I have no idea if that makes sense. I'm not really selling yet but I'll trade you a 4oz size jar (about 2 oz scrub) for some of yours to try out. I wanna see (feel) the difference in oils used, I just used grocery store oils. Sami
  18. I've only used the 135 so I'm a little biased. So far the hot throw has not worked for me, but I'm only working with 1 scent and I think it just hates me. But I do have to say I've poured some very pretty tins and they burn great, just can't smell them yet. Sami
  19. I think its a preference thing, I fill mine to just at that little groove and it gives me a nice 3 oz in my 4 oz size tin. This may change if I ever get to move to a new container, but noooooooo the cucumber melon from peaks just hates me. Sorry bout that but I've poured 40 tins and none are working for me. As far as overpouring I say go with the oven method or get to wal-mart for a heat gun. Do you happen to already own an embossing gun? Same thing just not as high a temperature. Sami
  20. I found smallish bottles of it in the pharmacy section at wal-mart so I guess try there or any pharmacy should have it somewhere, mine was near the first aid section and they also had a little hanging display thing of it and boric? acid.
  21. I've seen the regular scrubs and made bohunk's, the difference I see is that an emulsified scrub is like a lotion or butter with sugar suspended in it. It's nice and creamy, when you scoop it out it stays in your hand and doesn't slide between your fingers. Hope that helps. Sami
  22. I found a jar of refined vco in the organic section at my grocery and a tub of unrefined vco in the organic beauty section I think I paid about 5 for the jar and something like 8 for the tub. I'm just experimenting with 8 and 16 ounces batches so it should last me quite a while. Sami
  23. I have seen where some use the decorative wall trim from the home improvement store to make them. I'm experimenting with polymer clay, another hobby of mine. I haven't unpacked my toaster oven yet so I've yet to test the pc ones. Hopefully someone else who makes them will chime in. Sami
  24. Thanks everyone, yes it smells good but my dad says it smells like the bathrooms in his office building :undecided . Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, been sick and not wanting to stand for very long lol I tried it on my hands and the backs felt great but palms were a little greasy for me. Hopefully I'll feel up to a nice long shower today and get to try it out. If you haven't tried it yet, go for it, much easier than I thought it would be. Sami
  25. Bohunk Scrub I made the other day, recipe listed in bath and body section, scented Wild Zingerberry Tea from Bitter Creek. Sami
