1. Kris, I got the jars at Olde Time Pottery. Do you have one near you? I think they have some simiar at Wallie World. I don't store in the jars, I store them in totes but I am taking the jars already filled to the show so that I don't have to fill them there but I have totes of back-up to refill with going with us as well. I think you were the one who posted the bucket with the bombs, I do something similar but I have shorter colored pails and I place 5 in a cello bag then put a platform in the bucket and set the bag in. I sell a lot of them like this, but I keep forgetting to put them on my website, plus I always wonder how they will ship packaged like this. Guess I have to ship some to myself to see:cheesy2: I love making them as well, I was determined over the last year to get them the way I wanted
2. Oh, are they scented Fruit Slices also, one of my favorite fragrances. They are beautiful, I will take 2
3. Way to go Prairie...let us know where they are so we can visit them as well:cheesy2:
4. Grumpy just kills me when she says piggy soap!!!!!!!! Alot, of people these days are veggie eaters etc and won't buy any product with animal products in them. I personally have a ton of these type of customers, they ask a ton of ???? also about what you put in them, which I don't mind, I like to see people be proactive rather than just go with the flow and never give a sh$t what they are using. I got a bar of lard soap in a swap and loved it, it was so hard and bubbly
5. Ok, getting ready for a big 3 day outdoor show May 19-21, my soaps have been done for quite a while, I have been making them for several months now getting caught up and double stocked. I am taking about 30 scents of soap (about 1500 bars), 6 scents of bath bombs, 5 scents bath salts (I display those in galvanized tubs like the soap but in huge ones, they are filled to the brim and hand-packaged at the time of purchase), 30 scents of lotion bars (about 400 total), about 200 loofah scrub bars, body butters, dry oil spray, lip balms and tarts. We are having 2 seperate booths at this show, one is a double size and one is a single in a double space. Ok, sorry for the book. These are the jars I got for my bath bombs, they were only $9.99, they hold 28 bombs. I have totes of each fragrance with back-up and have 2 more jars to fill with Lavender Vanilla and Mimosa Mandarin (they are curing) The blue & white bombs with peppermint leaves are Eucalyptus Mint, Orange and Green are Fruit Slices, Yellow and Red are Raspberry Lemonade w/ cranberry seeds, and Yellow and White with 14 Karat Gold Mica on end are London Lemon Curd (Butta Bing). I have made bath bombs endlessly for several weeks. I love my recipe, I have adjusted it adding some hard butters with my oils and they are even harder. Thanks for looking Michelle
6. OMG....looks totally awesome, creamy, yummy....doesn't look a first soap
7. They should not start to melt when you touch them but after a few minutes between your hands they should start to soften so you can rub over body etc. My lotion bars will last through several hand washings without having to be reapplied, that is one reason so many people love. The other reasons were mentioned, portabiltiy, all-natural, very intense for problem areas. The scent should last a long time as well. Lotion bars are one of my best-sellers as well, and my best repeat seller. keep experimenting, you will get it!
8. Ha...Georgia, I am having 2 booths at Maifest this year. I think someone should check me into the psych ward. I will be down from the goose girl fountain (booth A) and down from the tower clock, across from the Struedel Haus. (Booth Please do stop by and introduce yourself and take my temp while you are there ( I will probably be at Booth A) Michelle PS-Can't come to Grant Co. this weekend, would love to come sometime, already have a way to full weekend. GOOD LUCK!
9. I live in the Cincy area as well, and the show I do in May is 3 days outdoors, we always have at least one day of rain. Make sure you have weights for your tent, all four sides. You can get concrete mix and get $1 buckets from $1 store and mix and fill, hang from tent or it could go bye bye. Also, take plenty of tarps for the top of your tent (get those plastic clips to secure with) and have a few tarps to cover your product with if you leave it there, if not still cover your displays, will save you a bunch of headaches. Make sure no product is left on the ground in boxes etc. I live in N. KY and I am hating the forecast for this weekend but hoping for good weather in 3 weeks
10. It will probably be fine...same thing happens with Ocean Mist from NG, it is very popular but man I have soap in the pot before the FO even hits the soap. I soap it at low temps, room temp lye, add FO to warmed oils etc but still misbehaves. I have just learned to be on my toes with this one. Oh ya, same with Blooming Tulps from WSP. Your colors look great. I have never smelled Ocean but I can just imagine:cheesy2:
11. Woohoo, that is what I made yesterday, 40 LLC bath bombs, oh, they smell yummy> Don't ya just want to pop one in your mouth like a lemon tart? They look great guppy, doesn't it feel good when they are so nice and round?
12. I guess it depends on if you asked her to do it for FREE...I have had situations were people have known I needed something (biz cards) and offered to do them and then they let me know it was free of charge because they wanted to use mine as advertisement for their biz...well, they did not want to do what I wanted... so I told them if they could not produce the product I wanted then I was going elsewhere because I was willing to pay for cards in the first place, it is my business and I decide how it is advertised. I don't think it matters if it was free...ask her if she would have done the same to a paying customer, if she says no, then tell as of today you are a paying customer if she can't treat your business with as much respect as the next persons. Ok, if I decide to give some of my product away FREE to a person who was willing to buy it in the first place don't they deserve to get what they wanted to pay for? Not some other version just because I decided to give it to them. Just my 2cents worth, what ever that is worth Michelle
13. I am not a queen either, but I make the bigger ones than the meatballer and just use the plastic molds from Michaels, they are maybe a buck or so. The ebay mold looks nice but it is basically the same thing as the plastic one but more expensive. I made 40 bombs yesterday and about 100 over the weekend and the plastic one is going strong!!! I am not spending more than $1 until I get the expensive bomb press and that will be awhile. If you do decide to go with that mold let us know how it performs. Michelle
14. Brenda, I have made them with a real rose bud on top, you put it in the mold before your mixture, looks awesome. You could do that with other additives for a top on them. They look great, and bet they smell awesome. I just made 40 London Lemon Curd bath bombs today, put 14 Karat gold mica on one end, I call my LLC soap Lemon Butter so I am going to call the bombs "Butta Bing". I love making them, I alway add some kind of additive or other mica etc to add a little zip to them. Elle
15. So Kristine, do you pre-package your bombs in the egg crates or let the customers fill up themselves? Mine are to big for the egg crates but am looking at the plastic cupcake crates but cannot decide to pre-package some or let the customers fill up TIA Elle
16. I did some last year like that in Fruit Slices, they were so cool, everyone loved them. Yours look great! UMMMM...bet they smell great
17. Welcome, I am always impressed that someone has the patience to home school. I am counting the days to "send" mine to school:cheesy2: I have many products which contain shea butter, in addition, I have shipped shea body butter and also have Lavender Vanilla. If you stick around long enough you might get bitten by the bug Michelle www.thebodybarsoaps.com
18. Oh, I want one of those presses...I will tell you what, we can go in on one and send it back and fourth:o I have to make about 500 bath bombs in the next 2 weeks, I can already feel my shoulders aching:sad2:
19. the layering looks good on the lotion bars, I have done it in past, but don't have the time for that anymore, have to make them quick and the layering takes more time
20. Today I made up a bottle of 1/2 cyclo and 1/2 FCO w/ FO and I am really liking it so far. I have yet to spray it on any fabric but will do so tomorrow, I just can't believe it does not stain. Sure would love not to have to pay so much for cyclo anymore, even if I did a 50/50 blend:yay:
21. They look fantastic, get that potato peeler out and you are in business!
22. Ok, that tutorial is flipping amazing...Ok, we know what is next on my list. Oh, I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bunny, can we see a pic of yours when you are done:cheesy2:
23. OK, so the FCO does not stain clothing or furniture? I make my sprays now with cyclo and FO, which are very good sellers for me but the cyclo is so expensive, I am going to have to try the FCO if it definitely does not stain, I will have to make a tester now to see:smiley2:
24. You have a delimma with prices maybe going up. I would definitely either get a deposit or payment up front as to insure the sale but I would not make the candles now, to much can happen in over a year. I don't make candles so don't laugh if this is wrong, but if you got payment up front you could go ahead and purchase everything minus the FO to insure pricing, that is if wax does not go bad like B&B supplies. You would need to let her know you are purchasing the supplies up front to insure pricing and that after the order has been placed with your supplier no refund is avialable. Something along these lines. I just know how people can get ahead of themselves, have you planning on this order and then they do something else, this would at least insure you getting the sale if paid for in advance. I would also draw up an invoice stating that the sale was binding once supplies ordered. Let us know what happens Michelle
25. from what I can see looks cute, but can you make the pic bigger?
