  1. At the time of my initial post, Patchouli was listed on their Clearance page. It is now no longer listed in the Clearance section... Someone must have cleared them out of the Patchouli.
  2. Sweet Cakes (great oils but can be pricey on specific oils) Bramble Berry (consistently good oils at moderate prices) Nature's Garden (very affordable)
  3. Has anyone purchased from here? I emailed them asking about whether their oils can be applied to candles and received a very canned response of "We do sell our oils to candle makers. You have to test the oil to see if it works on your application." Which is not very helpful information at all. I ordered anyway due to some of the scents they carry and I just received my order and while the majority of the oils smell great... I noticed the labeling is minimal with no information on it except for scent name. So again I emailed them inquiring about flashpoints for the oils as they do not list anything on their website and this is the other canned response I received... "I am sorry we do not have this information. Please test the oil to see if it is applicable for your application." How can they not have a flashpoint or MSDS for any of the oils they carry? Even though I would like to use some of their scents, I don't feel comfortable using a company that shuns transparency as they obviously do. So I say, Buyer Beware!
  4. Were you using hemp wicks from Bitter Creek? I have had no issues burning Patchouli EO with them. The tabs unfortunately discolor with vanillin but no other issues with them. LOVE aged patchouli!! I get my Aged Patchouli from Liberty Naturals.
  5. Vanilla Valley or (I quite like the name Vanilla Valley in French) Vallée de Vanille
  6. I have had no issues with wicks and various Patchouli EOs... I use Eden Botanicals essential oils. I also use a Hemp-core wick which burns stronger and longer than traditional wicks. Maybe the hemp-core helps?
  7. Re: Lebemuth I see a Patchouli fragrance oil listed on their Clearance list. I would call them to see how much they have left of the clearance patchouli oil. They also offer samples of their clearance oils.
  8. Oh strange. I've been using Frosty Pine & Alaskan Wilderness mixed together as my replacement for SW's pine that I used to sell with no complaints and seems similar to my nose. Sorry for the misdirection.
  9. Flaming Candle's Balsam Fir, I believe, is meant to be a dupe of Yankee Candle fragrance. Scents I have used that come close to SW's Canadian Balsam are: Rustic Escentuals: Alaskan Wilderness - scent description "This brisk, evergreen scent captures a pure forest morning, complete with pine needles underfoot and a clear mountain stream nearby. Sure to awaken your inner lumberjack." Frosty Pines - scent description - This one specifically mentions Canada. "This is not a typical pine-type scent - it's so much more complex! A snowy covered Canadian pine with camphoraceous notes of rosemary and vetiver, spiced bay, leather nuances, and a woody/musky base of cedar, sandalwood, Canadian Spruce, Douglas Fir Needle, cypress, balsam pine and woody orris."
  10. KandleKrazy, My ratings are all in wax. I use a wax blend I've created that consists of Coconut Wax, Soy Wax and Beeswax. (The soy wax I use is also C-3) Coconut because it is the cleanest burning. Soy for its scent retention. And beeswax for its natural hardening abilities as well as the claim that beeswax purifies the air as it burns. Like I mentioned above, the only ones I recommend are wood type scents like 2X4 or Cocobolo Wood. I also recommend Lakeside Birch, Fireweed, and Lettuce. I don't believe I mentioned Leather at all. I did mention Gunpowder and how it smelled like cinnamon though. The best leather scent I've ever used is from Peak though, if you're interested. Insanely strong.
  11. Two I recommend are: Sweet Cakes - Lilac and Aztec - Pink Lilac & Willow
  12. Thanks for that info TallTayl, good info to know!
  13. I've never had an issue with Fragrance Buddy but am sorry to hear of your experience with them. Hopefully it was a fluke.
  14. This is the list of FOs I have tried from The CandleMaker's Store: Tobacco - weak Gunpowder - smells like cinnamon Fresh Cut Wood - I recommend this one. Fresh Cut Bamboo - I recommend this one. Fireweed - I recommend this one, smells great. Absinthe - very creme de menthe Reefer - smells horrible Marijuana - smells horrible Cannabis Flower - smells ok Cannabis - smells horrible Lakeside Birch - I recommend this one, smells great. Lettuce - I recommend this one if you are looking for a dupe of Arugula by Archipelago Woodsmoke - I recommend this one. Not quite woodsmoky as others but still good. Mom's Baby Powder - generic baby powder scent Cilantro - weak Cotton Candy - sweet but weak 2X4 Type - I recommend this one if you are looking for something that smells like fresh wood. Sassafras - another creme de menthe type Rice Milk - generic rice & shea blossom scent Ginger - weak, does not resemble a true ginger scent. Driftwood - I recommend this one. Cola Type - horrible. Barn Wood - I recommend this one. Scotch Pine - smells like cleaner Cocobolo Wood - I recommend this one. Smells just like a freshly opened box of pencils. Perfume Types: Angel Type - weak Angelic - weak Dream Angels Halo - not right Dream Angels Heavenly - weak Dream Angels Devine - weak Kenzo Flower - weak Fahrenheit - weak A&F Fierce Type - weak So in conclusion, I echo the sentiments of Addict... Their dupes of designer fragrances are way off or way too weak to represent what they claim. However, I will say, their oils for "wood" type scents are spot on. I would also recommend Lakeside Birch (for an aquatic & wood scent), Fireweed (for an interesting spicy, floral scent), and Lettuce (for those that love Arugula by Archipelago). I would stay away from their clearance or 'sale' oils.
  15. I ordered over $500 worth of 1 ounce samples and most appeared to be diluted or just very weak. Never ordered from her again. She was also quite rude to me when she and I spoke on the phone and via email.
  16. I have ordered from this company. Reasonably priced and shipping was fast. Oils smell great OOB. I haven't tried them in my candles yet though.
  17. OoO, I'll have to check that thread out! Thanks OldGlory!
  18. My mistake. The information about ownership I gathered through postings on Facebook by customers and must have been misinformed. Shame Aztec is going through a rough time but attempting to notify them of unsatisfactory service will get you nothing but a passive aggressive and defensive response, attempting to you blame you in some way. They seem to have changed from a quality company that cares for its customers to one that is simply going through the motions, scraping by on the bare minimum of customer service. I understand what you mean about the scent differences, however, I stated earlier that you can find the same scents on other sites but with different names. Not the same names. For instance, the Redwood & Cedar fragrance from Flaming is the same as Wholesale Supplies Plus' Fabuloso Lavender. I have sampled well over 3,000 oils within the past 10 years so just trying to help others so they don't have to spend as much money as I have. lol
  19. Both Aztec and The Flaming Candle use this supplier by the way... http://www.agilexfragrances.com/
  20. Aztec uses the same supplier The Flaming Candle does so you will typically find their scents on other websites, just with a different name. For pine-y scents, I usually use The Flaming Candle - Mistletoe The Flaming Candle - Holiday The Flaming Candle - Balsam Fir Sweet Cakes - Windsong Balsam Pine (I know they use real pine EO in their formulation) P.S. I have also have had bad experiences with Aztec. Been buying from them for years. It is owned by a husband and wife and they ALWAYS have the worst attitude. (the husband being the worse of the two) They are extremely defensive and certainly seem like they have a chip on their shoulder. They ran a sale a while ago and I took part of it. I received an email from the husband days later saying someone had messed up and the sale was not correct. So he was emailing me to tell me that either my order will be cancelled or I can pay full price for the items. He and I exchanged emails back and forth with him saying that his company should not have to honor a sale that was launched in error by one of his employees. Red flag right there. Another incident was when I noticed my honest reviews weren't being posted. They released a scent duplication of the Tory Burch perfume. I reviewed it saying that it smelled pretty but that anyone aware of fragrance oils would recognize this scent as a Teak-style fragrance. Apparently, they didn't appreciate that. Anything that was positive would be posted but anything that was critical of the oil wouldn't be posted. So I emailed the website asking why only some of my reviews were being posted.... This is the interaction: Q is me. A is Aztec. Q: You sent me an email asking for a review and even sent me a coupon for my review on February 24th but I am wondering why my review hasn't been posted? 03/06/15 A: Even though you rated the fragrance well it was removed as it was just odd. This is a duplication of a fragrance and is designed to smell like the fragrance and is not designed to be unique. Q: The word 'unique' was used to describe the Tory Burch scent NOT your attempt to duplicate it. I think it would be wise to cease censoring your customers when you don't receive a review that is to your liking. The review you have allowed to be posted is two words ("good one") and clearly unhelpful as indicated by the persons 'thumbs downing' the review you allowed to be posted. If this is truly how you handle your business and how uninformed you care to keep your customers, then you just lost one. I only deal with suppliers that honor transparency. 03/06/15 A: It did not seem like you were reviewing the actual fragrance but giving recommendations. Q: I believe that was misconstrued on your behalf. I did not name any other company at all and provided those scent names merely as a point of reference for experienced perfumers/candle makers because if they have scoured the earth for fragrance oils as I have, they will know this scent already. It can be frustrating when you order a scent named Bamboo Teak from one company and then order Indonesian Teak or Mahogany Teak months later from another company to have all the scents smell exactly the same. My review was from a place of actually trying to help others. 03/06/15 A: But this was a duplication of a perfume and should smell like the perfume. I still am not following you on this one. The only goal of a duplication is for it to smell like the fragrance that is being duplicated. In this case it was a perfume by Torry Burch. Travis Forrester
  21. I've had a very bad experience with Save On Scents. They are local to me and was amazed at their wide selection. My first order was over $500 worth of 1 oz. samples in the extreme concentration and then hundreds of dollars in subsequent orders. Needless to say I have tested an extensive amount of their oils. While I will say most were top-notch and worked well, some are so rancid and not true to their name whatsoever. I used their Lady Million which is a dupe of Paco Rabanne's Lady Million and fell in love. So I only ordered an 8 ounce bottle, due to high cost, and used it and sold out immediately. My customers were hooked so I ordered another 8 ounce bottle but noticed something was off. I still used it and hoped no one would notice. I received two complaints but that was low considering how many I sold. Then I ordered another 8 ounce bottle and it was completely off. So I sent it back and received a replacement two weeks later and it was still off so I called again and they couldn't understand why it wasn't right as they claimed it was made the same way as the first batch I received. So I told them I had a small amount left of the original batch they sent me and they asked for me to send it to them so they could further analyze why I was saying the scent was not the same. So I begrudgingly sent them the last bit of the original formula along with the replacement oil that they sent. After another week they finally called back and told me they could definitely notice the difference between the oils and they had the perfumer in trying to dupe their own scent that somehow they messed up along the way. So they called me a couple of days later to say they made a replacement batch that they duped from my oil. I received the oil and it was still not right. I have given up with them.
  22. Twisted Cinnamon fragrance oil from The Flaming Candle Company
  23. Hello All, I found this forum and thread via a search on Google about The Scent Works. I've been in business for 4 years and used their scents. Since they closed I have had to reformulate all my candles with new scents that pale in comparison to The Scent Works fragrances. The owner of The Scent Works is still very active on her personal Facebook account so it's obvious the company didn't close due to illness or death. Just unfortunate she will not reply to anyone regarding her supplier of oils. Japanese Silverberry was my absolute favorite from them and I've been searching and spending 100's of dollars trying to find a scent similar to it to no avail. I also don't have any left for me to send away to get formulated. ::major sad face:: However, I have several other scents of theirs in 1 oz bottles that are available to get formulated if anyone wants them. They are of no use to me as I won't use the oils unless I'm able to sell them in candles. The scents I have are as follows: Full 1 ounce bottles: Jonquil - very strong, soapy floral Bronze Scuppernog - very strong grape scent Edelweiss - grass scent Butterfly Beach - sweet, floral Serendipity - strong, talc powder scent Layla's Island - coppertone, classic benzoin sun block scent. Marvel's Grove - grass scent Water Palace - Can't describe this scent. Hate it though. Pomona's Garden - sweet, floral Bonsai (Revised) - green, watery, citrusy Parma Viola d'Udine - delicate violet, not soapy like most violet oils. Sacred Datura - Sweet, green... Smells like a diluted Avocado Mint scent. Rustic Table Herbs - herbaceous, camphorous Botanical Hemp - delicate green scent. Does not smell like hemp whatsoever. 1/2 ounce bottles (1 ounce bottles with only half remaining): Adirondack House - smells like a strong clean cotton Yankee Candle scent Trillium Lake - smells like a very strong ozonic Yankee Candle scent Brighton Pavilion - delicate feminine scent. Saikaido - benzoin, floral, rocky. If anyone ever comes across a dupe of Japanese Silverberry, Brighton Pavilion, Saikaido, Adirondack House, or Trillium Lake, please contact me! Thank you!
