  1. Thanks everyone - it was a slower show season than usual for me (in terms of profit) and I was doubting whether or not quitting my job was the right move, but this really inspired me and made me glad that I quit.
  2. I finally got my first wholesale account. I say finally like I've gone out on hundreds of sales meetings, lol. It was my first stab at getting an account and they ordered $400 on the spot! It may not be much to some of the more experienced wholesalers out there, but it made my week! Now, how to get the second one lol.
  3. I searched the USPTO site and it showed that my name was dead/abandoned, but as I was reading through the application, it says that it is referred to an attorney who does additional searches - I was just curious as to what those additional searches are and if there was any way I could do them myself...just to be double sure before I pay all this money.
  4. I am looking into Trademarking my company name and was wondering if any of you CT'ers out there are attorneys that might be able to answer a few questions for a fellow candle/soap gal
  5. I bought oil burners from them - I got the stuff fast and I had a question on another product. I called after hours and left a vm and I had a message on my answering machine the next day from them. They were very polite - no complaints here. Everything came boxed individually, nicely packaged.
  6. This was very interesting - Zaba had me listed, but instead of my phone number and addres, it had my MIL's phone number and addy - and I've never lived there! I guess I'm safe, lol (for now)
  7. Or you can always have one naked out out for people to smell and pet or do whatever they want to do with it, but if they buy, they get a fresh wrapped one....that way the smell can still draw them in, but they'll still get to buy a virgin one, lol.
  8. I found a site that sells money candles in jars, so at least we know that it's done... http://www.bitsandpieces.com/^Banks+%26+Money^Money+holders/08-W9381.html?rel=C&relid=2952
  9. I would definately get a presto pot - I didn't put a spigot in mine and it works fine....actually I have 3, lol and they all work fine. They only cost about $20, so go for it, especially if you like doing it and are going to get some more supplies. Welcome to the wonderful addiction of candles!
  10. I just ordered from them and put a note in the comments section - I couldn't remember what the discount was either, lol. But my fine friends at Peak took 10% of my FO order for me (there was a little message when I got my package/receipt)
  11. That's a good idea - I will try that
  12. Geez, I have to raise my prices! I sell both 6 and 12 - I charge $3.00 for 6 and $5.50 for 12. Most people buy the 12.
  13. I have been using the clear 1.8 x 1.8'' labels from labels by the sheet to label my 1 oz body sprays, but the edges of my label keep coming un-stuck. I ordered some different size shrink bands to play around with, but has anyone else had this happen? I'm trying to think of different things I could use to keep those suckers on there good and tight. Any ideas?
  14. I've been making and testing this for the past few weeks and it is definately a keeper! I used Beeswax, Mango butter, FCO, Jojoba, Shea Oil, Vit E, a little color, little flavor, and voila! Perfect - thank you so much for the inspiration!
  15. I am completely addicted. I fell asleep on the couch on Sunday for a short 1/2 hr nap, and when I woke up I just started laughing because I had been dreaming about aromabeads, lol. DH thinks I'm nuts.
  16. I love the glaze....I need to order more of that....
  17. I've only tried it once, and it turned rock hard - I don't have the recipie I used in front of me, so I can't give exact amts or percentages, but it was horrible. I might try to modify the recipie and try again someday, but it's on the back burner for now.
  18. I would love for you to stop by! I'll be the crazed one, lol. Last year I did my first fair that was sponsored by the Rotary club and I had a TON of candles - I made way too many, and it was exhausting setting up and tearing down. I just didn't want to kill myself making too much stuff again this time. I do have a lot already made though, so I'm a little ahead of the game. I just have to make some more summer/fall scents. The fair runs Thursday-Sunday and I've already taken the first step by requesting that Thursday and Friday off from work....maybe I should have taken Monday too, lol. Oy vey! I'm nervous, but I think I'd regret not doing it if I talked myself out of it.
  19. Has anyone ever been to or done the Wappinger Fair in Connecticut? I was looking at the site - it's a 4 day event and last year they had 30,000 people over the 4 days. I am pretty sure I am going to do it, but I have no idea how much stuff to bring with me Any tips?
  20. I don't put ingredients on mine because they aren't meant to be used on the body.
  21. I asked this a while back - they use a crazy huge machine to make them....I was told it wasn't something that we could easily make.
  22. I love that site! But stupid question time: what is the difference (quantity) in gross vs. case?
  23. I do MP and when I add extra butters, oils, etc, I use a natural preservative like Vitamin E (which isn't really a preservative, but will give your soap a longer shelf life). I think you can also add Grapeseed Oil or Citric Acid as well...I have a book at home that lists some natural preservatives, so I will double check when I get home tonight.
  24. That's exactly what I was going to say! I've only done one show and out of about 100 crafters or so, there was only one other candle person. I go to a ton of craft shows with my mom and grandma just to scope them out and see which ones I want to do, and I see maybe one or two candle people at the most....but about 70% of the crafters seem to be jewelry!
