  1. No I'm pretty sure it works the same way down there as it does up here. In Canada if a person from a different province orders from me (whether or not it's a co-op, or just a regular customer) they dont pay our provincial taxes. So for you they wouldnt pay your state tax if they dont live in your state.
  2. yep, but the only people that would be responsible for paying taxes in that situation would be those in the same state (or province). Otherwise it's just like any other sale out of state/province. hope that makes sense!
  3. Glad to hear it went well!! I hope the numbers just keep gettin higher!!
  4. you can use any wax for chunks. 1343 works well for overpour as it's translucent. If you add fragrance to it it can mottle though (if it's 1343A) and any additives used to diminish mottling will affect the translucency.
  5. same! (and i put the product name on it too)
  6. Congratulations! All your hard work is definitely paying off, it looks great!
  7. I weigh everything just to know exactly what im putting in there.
  8. I heard that they were using magnolia's as the official flower of hurricaine katrina, so maybe that scent would be good!
  9. you can use the same recipe for cp or hp, the only thing is you cant discount the water for hp
  10. I dont think they ever re-opened. According to people on the soapdish they're still closed.
  11. That's great that you've got your hubby who'll sell for you!! Good luck, take pictures and I hope you do GREAT!
  12. How high did you superfat in the first place? It'll probably be fine, just a higher superfat than normal!
  13. The canadian peaks co-op is open! http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?p=39191#post39191
  14. all soap does contain lye at some point, but if you do m&p or hand mill someone else's cp then you dont actually have to work with the lye.
  15. We dont actually pay duty on stuff imported from the states, just taxes. It still works out cheaper than buying it here for the most part. Dee - if you're interested I can always give you a shipping quote then you can decide if it's too expensive!
  16. Hello Fellow Canadian! I haven't ordered from them, but I did want to let you know that I will be opening up a Peaks co-op tomorrow and it'll run for about 10 days. You can order any of peaks scents in 8oz, 1lb or 2lb sizes for 15% off the listed price, AND you only pay shipping from me to you! PM me if you're interested.
  17. I just tried doing 70/30 shea/fco in my last batch and it's definitely less greasy. I used to use sao but will stick with the fco from now on!
  18. Normally I only melt the wax in my presto and then scent and colour in my pour pots. The only time i'll scent and colour in my presto is when im making a big order (more than 4lbs of the same scent/colour).
  19. http://www.steves-templates.com/ That's where I got mine from, there's tons and they're free!
  20. you can texture the tops of your soaps by pouring a a thick trace and then swirling w/ something (a whisk, chopstick etc) or if you pour at a thin trace you could probably wait until it starts to set up a bit and do the same. hth
  21. those are definitely great labels! Do remember to add the weight on there though.
  22. you'll have to burn it for more than just 3 hrs to figure that out! If the mp doesnt get much bigger than that you'll be fine.
  23. That batch is wayyy too small, especially for someone just starting out. With amounts that small, it's very easy to have a lye heavy batch. I would suggest not doing anything smaller than 2lbs (32 oz).
  24. I didnt read your article, but I use it in soap because it's cheaper and it soaps well. If i were putting it in leave on products i'd use EVOO.
