  1. Soap is basically self cleaning. I only use a cigar band label, nothing else. But I store my soap in boxes, so it's not like it gets dirty.
  2. Another thing I would suggest is switch some or all of your liquid oils to fractionated coconut oil, I found that made it much less greasy. Be sure that when you're putting on the shea butter that you only use a LITTLE bit. That's the great thing about shea is a little goes a very long way. If you put too much on it'll feel very greasy.
  3. 33oz of gm? that sounds like a pretty big recipe! you can just use your normal cp recipe if you'd like and just replace the regular water with gm. I use the powdered gm as well and just make a slurry with it and add it at trace. I use water for my liquid.
  4. refined shea is odourless. unrefined shea has a smoky odour and all of the 'healing' properties that you hear when people talk about shea. The refined doesnt have the 'healing' properties as they're also removed in the refining process (so i've heard, i've never used refined shea) Dont necessarily get the cheapest shea you can, there are MANY different grades. I've heard of some people finding sticks and bugs in their shea!! I'd go with a reputable supplier. Agbanga Karite is a great one!
  5. with cp and hp you're using lye, and you can pick each ingredient and the amount of each ingredient for it's specific properties that it adds to the soap. cp and hp both have to cure a bit. You can only add small amounts of things to m&p whereas you can add more (depending on what it is) to cp and hp. They're TOTALLY different things. I started out with m&p and didnt like it at all, I much prefer cp. some people do prefer m&p though!
  6. 10ml is about 1/3 oz. I would add the full 10ml to 5 or 6 oz of wax. I like to use between 0.75-1oz pp.
  7. I've never smelled that at all with fruit slices, and it's one of my best sellers! I've used it in quite a few different waxes.
  8. uplands DO come with the liner, but you can also buy additional liners seperately.
  9. What about clothing? handbags? pet products?
  10. Here's some advice from a Canadian! Definitely ship it USPS - I always prefer airmail parcel post (which doesnt actually come with a tracking number). It can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks to get here, even though it states 4-10 days. I have no problems with waiting that extra time while it usually sits at the border. NEVER under any circumstances label the value as being more than it's worth, most of the time we end up paying taxes on the value stated. hth!
  11. No they dont. Case in point - I once had a package worth $10 shipped up and somehow UPS came up with $275 in brokerage. I have no idea where the amount comes from.
  12. Peaks lavender is the fastest tracer I use.
  13. I use godaddy to host my site and have never had a problem. I use their economy hosting as well, it's great for me! I also used a template but I searched google for free templates..
  14. I've never done that... I just melt it, get it to my pouring temp and go!
  15. This is exactly why I refuse to have anything shipped anything BUT USPS when coming from the states. I got a huge UPS brokerage bill once (Over $200 for a product valued at $10) I fought it and won, but it was still the scariest thing ever and I will NEVER do it again. I've found most people will mark it as a gift (i've had them opened at the border and never had a problem) and I only seem to have to pay taxes on stuff about 1/2 the time. But definitely only have stuff shipped USPS
  16. Am I the only one that doesnt clean mine? I dont have residue left in my molds and i've never had a problem with the scent transferring either.
  17. Welcome fellow Canadian!! You're gonna have to stop thinking in celcius, everything you read on the boards (and on most websites) refers to farenheit! hth
  18. do you have another thermometer you could try in it? maybe yours is broken.
  19. I used mals-e (www.mals-e.com) and I was able to put it in myself. It's easy!
  20. It looks great! some little things i noticed though... you missed the letter t in your website name. Another thing is the shea and/or cocoa butter. I dont know about the laws where you are, but I like to know exactly what's in my products. hth
  21. www.canwax.com sells 1lb samples of the waxes they carry.
  22. Hey Jen, I had 4 of them, and 2 cracked. They cracked right through the glass, but only on one side (so they didnt actually break apart, but you could see that the crack went right through the whole side of the glass) It cracked part way through the first time it was burnt with a votive in it. I havent seen the Christmas mugs yet, might have to check them out!! (I LOVE dollarama! I worked there for 2 years in high school, man they have amazing stuff)
  23. They look good Jen! Are they the ones from dollarama? If they are I had some and they cracked with just votives burning in them. Didnt crack in half, but did have a HUGE crack going all through the glass. Just be careful!
