  1. I would love to be a part of it also. TIA Portia
  2. Thank you all soooo much for the compliments, but I have a LONG way to go. These have been the most addictive things I have ever done except for the horse embed pillar that I do. I think what I love most about these is the time it takes to sit and get each flower as PERFECT as you can. I have been known to LOVE tedious (sp?) work. Donita, you are my inspiration and THANK YOU SO MUCH for your patience and advice, I would have never been able to have even attempted these without you. Geekrunner: Thank you and I'm so glad that your SIL liked the candle. Off to more flowers. I'm finding myself now spending $$$$$ on dried flowers instead of fragrance oils now:D Portia Edit: I'm by no means trying to compete with Donita, I COULD NEVER MEASURE UP TO HER WORK, but trying to achieve/learn an art from her and carry it on.
  3. Lord am I ever addicted to making these things and it's all Donita's fault. :D Though I will NEVER be able to come close to what you do Donita, I must say "I am loving these things". Thanks to you and your advice, I have one waiting at all times to apply flowers to. Still working on trying to get the over dip technique down pat though. Sorry for the quality of pic's, but I couldn't get them to where they weren't blurred some. Portia
  4. Does anyone have a source for the blank scratch 'n' sniff labels? TIA Portia
  5. Clean Crisp Air from NG. UGGGHHHH,,,,headache city...Portia
  6. My next purchase I will DEFINITELY invest in some CW 5055 and micro. That and adjust my waterbath temp. I can't believe those water ballon cane's Donita, I tried those SOOOOOO many times and busted EVERYONE of them. I finally gave up. Thanks,,,,,,Portia
  7. No there definitely isn't water in it. These are almost like tiny, tiny air bubbles under the surface. They are not cracks, just kinda like snowflaking under the surface. I thought on the first on maybe it was caused by not wiping out enough of the PAM that I sprayed in the mold. But, I made sure on the 2nd one that I wiped it out REALLY good. I have used this same wax before, many times with a hurricane mold (this one I used a stainless steel bowl) and never had this happen. I am trying to use up the rest of this slab before purchasing a different type. I am totally puzzled. Thanks,,,,,Portia
  8. This hurricane was poured using IGI-5560 hurricane wax with no additives. I only placed it in a cold water bath for no more than 2 minutes and then let it stand at room temp to release. After it has set for a bit, I've got this snowflake/mottling something or another going on with it. It looks kinda cool in person, but I don't want it to look like this. Any suggestions as to what may be causing it? There is NO fragrance oil added to it either. HELP ME:cry2: ,,,,,,TIA Portia
  9. LOL,,,,,let me know when you head that way Margaritamomma and I will hitch a ride with you. Would that not be awesome to set and watch her at work:yay: Beautiful Donita
  10. You never cease to amaze me lady! Great job,,,,,Portia
  11. That's what I've been using for about 4 years now. HTH Portia
  12. Well, using hurricane wax didn't work either, the tealight still melted enough wax that you have to pry the cup out. I guess I'm gonna have to go with the cork insert idea. UGH,,,,,,,Portia
  13. As much as my candle room, the living room, part of the kitchen and EVERY closet in the house will hold,,,,,,,LOL Portia
  14. I think if this one using the hurricane wax does the samething, I will try the cork idea. That way it will give some lift to the tealight so that you have something to grab it by to take it out. Thanks a bunch! Portia
  15. I am using the plastic tealight cups,,,,forgot to mention that. As we speak, I am pouring one using hurricane wax w/micro added. Will see what happens with this one. Thanks,,,,,,,,Portia
  16. For those of you that make pillars using the tealight inserts, what type of wax do you use for the pillar? I have tested 4045H, w/4761 chunks and when the tealight finishes burning it has melted the wax some and you can't hardly get the empty tealight out. I love the look of the 4045H, but it doesn't seem that the MP is high enough to use for this particular candle. Any suggestions? TIA Portia
  17. Does anyone know of a place to purchase Fig & Lavender FO? I purchased some body spray at Walgreens in that scent and it is awesome. TIA Portia
  18. Try heating your molds (I set mine in the oven on 200 until I'm ready to pour) and pour at around 180. I have the same thing happen as you are describing when I pour some leftover into a cold mold. HTH Portia
  19. What I normally do is use my votive wick pins. Insert them from the underside and pour. Unmold and insert wick, dip in the same wax as you used for the flower to cover the wick tab. Someone may do it alittle different and will chime in and help ya out. HTH Portia
  20. Are you looking for something to just display them in or to sell along with them? What about the kinda shallow, widemouth bowls that you can get at Wal-mart in the candle container section? I don't have a clue where you would find any online unless Libbey carries something like what you are looking. Sorry I couldn't be of much help.........Portia
  21. Thanks for the compliments! Mtngrl: Unless it's a REALLY strong fo, I go with 1 1/4-1 1/2 oz/lb with Palm. I am VERY please with the throw from the Palm pillars, to me, I get more of a throw out of these than I do using paraffin. HTH,,,,Portia
  22. Maybe Donita will chime in on this one, she is the queen of hurricanes. Sorry I couldn't help,,,,Portia
  23. Thanks a bunch! I got that mold from flexiblemolds, if I'm not mistaken. The dish is poured using Joy wax. Portia
  24. Donita,,,,,,,,I have been trying to figure out too how to over dip a candle with a tealight insert and I think I may have just figured out something here, haven't tried it yet though. Take the screw and tap out of your tealight insert, put it in the bottom of the mold just like you normally would, then run a wick pin up through the hole in the insert where the screw is normally. Pour the candle, unmold, take the wick pin and insert out, run a tabbed wick up through the candle as you normally would, dip and remove the wick and tab and then level the bottom. I'm gonna try it on a square pillar and see if it works or not. Will let ya know how it goes,,,,,,:highfive: Portia
  25. Thank you all for the kind words. I knew there was something that I didn't like about it and SatinDucky hit the nail on the head, he was lacking color up top. So, I put a little red bow at one of his ears and it made all the difference in the world. It's funny how the smallest of things can make the biggest difference. Portia
