  1. These haven't been dipped yet, but just wanted to get all my pictures taken while I had my stuff set up. These are just some ideas I'm working on for the summer. I will be scenting these in of course "Sunflower". Thanks for looking,,,Portia Edit: The sunflower is a candle and I will be putting something to the effect to remove candle from plate before burning. The pic doesn't show a wick, as I just sit the flower on the container to get the picture.
  2. Can you all tell today is picture taking day:D One is the heart shaped dish that I'm doing (packaged), the other is the small dipped bear and feather pillar packaged. The 3rd pic is a small dipped bear that I'm doing along with a wax dipped rose in the vase with aroma beads. The beads in the vase in the picture isn't scented yet, I just threw those in there for the picture. The bear will be packaged in a cello bag with a ribbon on it and then that is hot glued to the front of the vase. Will post other's in another thread. Thanks for looking,,,Portia
  3. Ok, here is one of the Valentine Bears that I'm doing this year. Need opinions as to bear with rose petals or without rose petals? Also, am up for suggestions as to what else I can do to dress him up some. TIA Portia
  4. Candleman,,,,I did a thorough check inside this mold and YES it is just as you described. I haven't tried heating it other than with the heat gun on the inside (it's a whole apple mold), so I'm gonna give it a shot in the dark and try heating it in the oven and see if it helps it in the least. Otherwise, I have just been overdipping the apple in the same wax as I poured with once it's set. Wish me luck! TIA Portia
  5. I have a slab being delivered today and can't wait to test it. If it works for me, I'll be replacing Joy wax with 6006. UGH,,,,I hate to hear the results of this wax using zinc wicks, because I primarily use zinc's for ALL my containers. Please continue to give us some feedback on your testing. TIA Portia
  6. Is there a way to eliminate surface "cottage cheese" and air bubbles when pouring into a silicone mold? I am pouring at roughly 180 and once I unmold my candle, it is COVERED with these, am I pouring too hot? I tap the sides until I think all the air bubbles are out and I've tried pouring slower, but still have them. TIA Portia
  7. I've done this several times and I just make "myself" up an invoice showing to who and what was donated and amount and keep it for my records/taxes. HTH Portia
  8. Thank you all again! Basically what I do is: 1) Pour about 1/4" of scented, undyed wax into a cold mold and slosh around up on the sides about 1/2 way up the mold. I do this in a messy type fashion. 2) Let that set until what's left in the bottom of the mold has somewhat set up. Then I do the same with my next color (sky) only using more wax on this layer. Then I tilt my mold onto something and let that set up. 3) Same as #2, only this is the layer when I insert the embed. With my embed in place, I slosh a few layers of my 2nd color over the horse to cover him and hold him in place. Then I attach (if needed) a binder clip to his feet and the mold to hold him in place. Tilt my mold and let this layer set. 4) Same as #2 & #3, only I let this layer set up on a flat surface and not tilted. Wait until this layer is set really good and do my final pour. 5) Then, when I unmold the candle, I take a knife and carve around him and lift any wax off of his surface. Wa la, it's as simple as that. Also, I used 4045H wax for this candle and it's a 3 wicker. Thanks,,,,,,Portia
  9. I'm not alone!!!!!!! Been there and done that. Just pour some container wax (since it wouldn't be hard to chew) over the burndt part and serve,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,works everytime:highfive: LOL,,,I know the feeling, my family is getting so tired of thrown together club sandwiches, sub sandwiches, wraps,,,,,,,,do you notice a pattern here? We must seek help:rolleyes2 but I just don't understand why.................Portia
  10. Can anyone give me any feedback on this fragrance? I'm thinking of using it to dip my "Sunflower" bear in and having a "Sunflower flower pot" candle sitting with her. TIA Portia
  11. Thank you all so much for the advice! You gave me scents that I'd never have thought of, but seem to go great with the theme. BTW, we live in the mountains and their mascot is a "Mountaineer head". TIA Portia
  12. I wasn't sure where to post this, so here it is. I have a Cheerleader Bear that is the colors for our local highschool and was wondering about what type of scent I should go with? Any ideas? TIA Portia
  13. Thank you all for the info. That sounds like a fair price. Thanks,,,,,,Portia
  14. Thank you all, but NO, it takes less time to do/make one of these than it does a pillar,,,,,,,,,,,LOL...........Only the block on top is wicked and testing that to get the right wick took the most time. Basically with these, I pour wax into both heated pans (top layer and bottom layer) unmold them,,,,grubby the icing on and place the decorations around the cake,,,,,,Wa,,,,La,,,,,,,,pretty it up and you are finished.,,,,,,,,,Portia
  15. How much do you all normally retail these for? Now that I have them and have them packaged and ready to go, I don't have a clue as to what to charge for them, being as I never buy them for myself. TIA Portia
  16. Check out the classifieds. I think Ashlie K has some up for sale that she had leftover from our co-op. HTH Portia
  17. Thanks again for the wonderful comments. I really love doing these type candles. Portia
  18. I used the tealight plug when I poured this candle. Donita helped me with that idea. You just put the plug in the mold, screw it in and pour your candle. Once you unmold your candle, you have a perfect opening for a tealight. Thanks a bunch!~ Portia
  19. I posted that size 3x4 under the wrong candle. This one is actually a 6x6x5 pillar. Now, I forget who asked what,,,,LOL. Bruce I will try and get a better all around picture and post it today. The mold for the embed came from Firts Impression Molds as did the mold for the horse head on the 3x4 pillar. Thanks so much for your nice comments. Portia
  20. www.candlesforalloccasions.com has some that have the longer hair, but she doesn't seem to have any instock right now. You might email or call her and ask about them. HTH Portia
  21. Actually I was going for a burlap or old fence board look (if that makes sense). I used a wire bristle brush and made criss-cross indentions on all 4 sides, the top and the bottom of it and then applied (with a papertowel) brown paint and wiped the excess off. It was really simple and fast to do once the candle was unmolded. Thanks,,,,Portia
  22. Mtngrl, yes the block is wicked, that's the only wick in it. The bottom was made using an 8" cake pan and the top layer was made using a 6" cake pan. Then I modgepodged the 2 layers together and iced the whole thing, then applied the flowers and decorations using modgepodge also. I will try and get a top view pic posted tomorrow. Thanks a bunch for the compliments. Portia
  23. Thank you all! Shannon I inserted it as an embed and carved around him and cleaned him up once I unmolded it. I NEVER could get it to round on a pillar w/o it breaking him into, so I gave up on the round mold. Portia
