  1. I'm just using Yaley straight paraffin I got from Michaels, and it had just a little stearic, two drops blue and one drop red per lb to give it a slight lavender look (daughter's wedding color). I used it as the overpour just 'cause I have no other wax right now. Just kinda playin' around waiting till I can buy proper wax for it purpose. I'm not sure if I want to burn it. I am a Mad Scientist, you know. Bwahaahaahaa! PS BTW your 'canes are very nice, regardless of how you apply the add-ons! Whatever makes for less work and mess, since you're in business. I'm not near that point yet.
  2. I'll have to reduce the pics to 25% on my Kodak software. For some reason, I can't get a decent daylight pic of the 'cane. Thanks for the comment!
  3. You are learning well Grasshopper Very nice candle! I'm going to try one now!
  4. Bet it wouldn't be too hard to make those.
  5. Pretty cool! Is that a large or small mold?
  6. Very nice, it looks like Sandalwood should look like to me. I have some of that I'm saving for when I get my good wax. Two thumbs up!
  7. Here is the 'cane for my little girl (she's actually 19)
  8. Here is my first chunk pillar, and a 'cane I made for my daughter's wedding in a couple of weeks. The 'cane did not turn out good first time, so I remelted and second time did much better. The chunk pillar did prety good, just used scrap pieces (mostly red) with some forest green, light peach, and blue. Overpoured with leftover 'cane shell wax at 170*.
  9. WOW! I got an idea. How about yellow chunks scented with Monkey Farts in clear paraffin and call it......... Chunky Monkey Farts! I am so good.
  10. I do like the round chunker. They are very nicley done!
  11. Most definitely looks like crashing surf. I am impressed!
  12. All are very nice, but the second set really stand out to me. You are very skilled in tilted layers!
  13. They don't look too bad. At least for me, votives don't have to look that good. I would place alot more emphasis on how my pillars look, since some people by pillars that look nice, and don't burn them.
  14. Since I'm just starting out anyway, no worries!
  15. HI Vicky! I'm relatively new here, so you get a welcome too! Please post some pics of your work soon.
  16. I had a thought while shopping at the grocery store. I saw a small local candle company's display, and thought about buying one of their container candles to check it out. Then I began to wonder how I could learn from what other chandlers have done by analyzing their candle wax composition. Question: does anyone know someone or a company that can do that type of chemical analysis, other than wax companies? Would there be any moral or ethical considerations? Just something to grind on. If nothing else, I'm doing my part to break in this new site! BTW thanks Alan for all your hard work in the bg!
  17. Fascinating scent/color combo, reminds me of hiking in the steamy woods od southern Indiana. Good work!
  18. Hi to all! I went through candletech wthdrawal, now I have my fix! From a "geek" POV, I like the new site graphics. But now I have to post my pics from my new creations from my laboratory! Till then, I am your geekrunner!
