  1. Her post said she'd be willing to WRITE up a little piece...just didn't want to spend time if no interest. Well I think there are alot of people that are interested. I don't think she has one made up as this was kinda like "gauging interest" as people do in the co-ops. I hope too she will post soon...... but I'm sure it's alot of work.
  2. Poured 464 last night in a 9 oz balmoral. Added color, FO at 175 and poured at 135 using a RRD55. The room temperature in my workshop was 80 degrees and 76% humidity. After 2 hours it still hadn't set up. I brought it in the house and it finally set up after another 45 minutes. No frost, no wet spots but the top was not smooth. I think room temperature and humidity had something to do with it. The cold throw is great! Can't wait to burn it.
  3. I just talked to Chris at Gateway and the price of the wax plus shipping to TX is less than what I pay for C3 here locally. Great color, great adhesion, great cold throw... just got to work on the tops. Last night I poured in my shop and the temp was 80 degrees and the humidity was 76. At 2 hours it still hadn't set up and I poured at 135 degrees in a 9 oz balmoral. After the 2 hours I brought it into the house and it finally did set up. No frost & no wet spots but a rough top. It's lime green and the scent is Tahitian Daqari from JS. I think the room temperature & humidity plays a big factor....... Going to pour another one now..... That is too cool..........
  4. Poured 3/29 room temperature 70 degrees very humid. I heated to 185 poured using 8% Pomegranate FO 175 and poured into 9 oz balmoral using a HTP 83 wick at 150 degrees. Didn't get a smooth top but heatgun took care of it. Great adhesion to jar...no wet spots.... great cold throw & awesome hot throw!!!! I am going to pour another 9 oz balmoral tomorrow using a RRD 55 and color.
  5. Never tried B&B but I've accumulating all the oils, salts & butters. I'm sure this is a stupid question but what is collodial oatmeal & borax? Can you buy these at the store? Thanks
  6. I vote for the 1st one also......Very clean looking.....
  7. Does anyone use the gold tins. I think I like the look and it's sure a different change from the silver ones. I found them at SKS but they sell them in bulk of 144. However, they are at a good price but I know I don't need that many. Does anyone know who sells them at a lesser quantity? Thanks Pam
  8. Did you get wet spots before using these colors?
  9. Juniper Breeze (B& version....I have tried one from Taylored Concepts and was told that was not the same scent. I also have a customer that wants a Citrus Spice? Any suggestions? Thanks
  10. This may be a good blend for tarts.......I mix container wax & votive wax for my tarts.
  11. Welcome Maureen! I've been playing around with candles for 8 months now. I only sell the tarts and wickless candles. I have so many wicks and have tried so many waxes. I'm still trying to master the soy wicked........I'm a perfectionist so I may not ever sell any wicked candles......If you need additional wicks, Lonestar has a great sample pack and they carry alot of different wicks at a very reasonable price. Candle making is expensive and it is addicting.....I have about 30 samples to test now. I'm cleaning my candle shop (it's a barn type shed) out back and fixing to put some insulation in the ceiling and buy a new air conditioner. The old one is not cooling and it gets very hot here in Texas....I have a TV that sits on my workbench. a stero, and my laptop on my desk. There are many late nights but then again I'm a night owl! Another thing that is addicting is this board.....I don't even do B&B but I've been in some co-ops lately and have the supplies when I'm ready.... So welcome aboard my friend and happy candle making!!!!!! Pam
  12. Citrus & Teakwood....Very nice scent. I have it in my living room. Great in soy...... http://www.justbynature.com/
  13. Sofiajp, You can order a sample package of wicks from www.lonestarcandlesupply.com They have a good assortment and very reasonable. You can order sample packs for each type wick or you can order their master pack that includes 5 wicks of every wick they offer and it's only $39.99 for over 200+ wicks.
  14. Thanks to all for your reviews. There was just so many to choose from that I wanted to see what others thought about them. I'm going to place my order now. Thanks again......and I see that Becky has many many customers on this board.
  15. Here are four different tart labels that I found suppliers selling. I have never had a problem with soy tarts or paraffin tarts burning in an electric tart warmer. Did it specifically say "Soy tart warning"? I didn't find one that referred to soy tarts in specific. Each label is worded a little different. There was someone on this board that had purchased some tart warning labels and when she got them they had the wording similar to the first one. She said she could not use them because she sells electric tart warmers. Failure to follow these directions could result in unexpected fire hazard or personal injury. Use only in well ventilated low heat potpourri burner without lid. Do not add water. Never heat on stove or electric appliance where temperature would exceed 190 degrees F. Melt enough product to have 1/2 inch of product in pot. Use only in melters designed for wax tarts. Tart Safety/Warning Labels Our Tart labels measure 1.25" around and are really a must-have when reselling your finished product. Tart labels state the following: Caution: Failure to following instructions could result in fire hazard, injury or smoke damage. Place in well ventilated, tart approved burner. Do not add water. Never heat on stove or any non-certified tart appliance. Do not allow flame to touch underside of melt pot. Do not heat if pot contains less than 1/2" of wax. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Never leave a burning tart and/or candle unattended. Great label for the Clamshell Tart molds.Available in rolls of 100 labels. $3.25, click below to order. Warning! Remove all packaging material before melting. Melt in a dry potpourri burner, NEVER ADD WATER. Only use well ventilated burner that uses a tea light candle as a heat source. Do not heat on stove or any electric appliance. Be sure the container is well ventilated to avoid risk of fire. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep out of reach of children & pets. Keep wax free of matches, wick trimmings & flammable materials. Do not move while candle is burning or wax is hot. Failure to follow instructions could result in fire, injury or some damage. Important: To prevent damage, discontinue when 1/4” of wax remains. Crafted in the USA.

  18. I was looking at their website and they have an awesome sampler package. I went to the scent forum and didn't find any reviews on the following. I am using soy. 1) coconut bubble 2) chocolate chip cookie dough 3) Chai Tea 4) Asian Spice 5) Grandma's Cookies 6) Exhale 7) Girls Night Out Pink Bombshell 8) Tickle me Pink Thanks
  19. I got some of the metal skillets @ Jo Ann Fabrics. They are by the candles. They are supposed to be used as a candle holder. They fit right on the warmers and are only $.99. Very cute!
  20. I have the Maduro for you to test.....I would be willing to part with an ounce or two. If interested please PM me.
  21. If you are looking for unique fragrances then you need to get Violet Musk, Indonesian Teak & Maduro. I'm sure there are others but I haven't tried them. You only need to use 1 oz per pound with their 70% soy/30% paraffin blend. It burns very nicely. Indonesian Teak has to be my favorite, followed by Violet Musk and then Maduro. Others have tried different ones. There is a thread regarding their wax and they have some FO reviews.
  22. I use straight FO and when the scent starts to get lite then I turn them over. I have had the same reeds in my bathroom since October and have not added any additional oil. I can't remember how much oil I put in there. Either a 1/2 oz. or 1 oz. I'm sure this is not how they were intended to scent but it works for me. I found this on Taylored Concepts site. Taylored Concepts Diffuser Scent Oils contain 35% of scented fragrance oil, which is much higher than the industry standard of 10%. This will get you a very strong scent throw. The principle behind reed diffusers is viscosity and specific gravity. Viscosity, or density, relates to how thick a material is and specific gravity is weight. The viscosity of a candle fragrance is too thick and the specific gravity is too heavy. Put a piece of paper in water and a second piece of paper in motor oil. The water will rise through capillary action in paper while nothing will happen to the paper in motor oil. Our propriety capillary agent has been developed with low viscosity and low specific gravity. In fact, our capillary agent is lighter than water. This combination of features allows our fragrances to work in perfect harmony with our Reeds for maximum fragrance diffusion. A 16 oz bottle will last for 5 to 6 months. Contains no DPG. BEWARE! Other companies are using Dipropylene Glycol (DPG) as a capillary agent. Dipropylene Glycol (DPG) is a medium viscosity oil and is heavier than water. Fragrance diffusion is minimal at best. So what's lighter than water? Alcohol??? I don't know.
  23. I too am interested in the results......I went to get some 70/30 from Greenleaf last week and they were out. After trying the sample I received I wanted to do further testing. I currently use Cargill C-3. The Maduro does work well in this. Michael, when I first went over to Greenleaf I smelled the Maduro but it didn't WOW me. After hearing you talk about it and everyone else I went back and got a pound of it. I really like it! It's a great scent in wax.
