Toni S.
I'm going to do the wood roses and I'm wondering if anyone knows who carries a true Rose fragrance oil? I've sampled a couple and to me they are very "gaggy" smelling, almost like old ladies cologne, if you know what I mean? Nothing against "old ladies" because I'm old!! :cry2: I'm looking for a pretty, soft fragrance? Any help is appreciated.TIA
tarynjms
what about VooDoo Love from BCNorth?
Toni S.
I was just asking the gals on the message board about that fragrance. Have you personally used it? I tried BCN's Victorian Rose before and almost barfed. Nasty, nasty!!
debscent
Peaks Rose Bouquet is nice (use sparingly--that's the secret with the rose scents and lilac). LOL!
pinetreecandles
I just poured Rose Petals from Cajun Candles yesterday and had to open the bay door and windows to the shop! I couldn't go in until it aired out some. It's very strong, but smelled like rose. It did remind me of old lady perfume, but most flowery scents do...lol It actually sells fairly well and the number one buyers are old ladies...lolNo offense to any elderly...Im well on my way to that! Meredith_D
I don't usually like rose scented anything, but I do like Peak's Rose Bouquet. It smells like a real rose with green notes. Not powdery at all, nor old lady perfume-y. Very nice.
Toni S.
Meredith,I think you're absolutely right, it's that powdery smells that makes most rose FO's nasty. Gotta find a true "rose" smell!!!
ayshapooh
I don't usually like rose scented anything, but I do like Peak's Rose Bouquet. It smells like a real rose with green notes. Not powdery at all, nor old lady perfume-y. Very nice.I agree Peak's Rose Bouquet smells like a real rose. I used that on my wood roses. I even brought a bouquet of roses over to my MIL house and said "Look what your son bought me" (well technically he bought them since I used his money to buy them in the co-op LOL) and had her sniff and when I told her that they were wood roses she didnt believe me til I had her touch them...she said they smelt like real roses and look like them too! KukiKat
I would try The Scented Bean's Rose, it is the best. I read a rec' on here for it Glad I tried it! It is very nice, perfect, no powder or fakey-ness to it at all.
Candlebuddy
Check out Wild Rose from Backwoods ... no perfume. You can get a scent description at www.backwoodsfragrancesupply.com.
sandissoap
I LOVE the Scented Bean's Rose, it is the best I've ever smelled! Sweetcakes is awesome too but the Bean's price is much more reasonable. I also like Tudor Rose from Simple Soothings. But I'd go with the Bean...
Toni S.
THANK YOU ALL for the tips on the FO. Now to figure out which one to get???? Decisions, decisions:undecided :undecided You gals are great!!
Mei-Mei
Oregon Trails Rose Petal smells exactly like a rose. Some of my customers love it, but some others feel it's a little overwhelming and too sweet. Chloris Rose from Greenleaf is a really nice rose, not too sweet and not too cloying.Just giving you some more to choose from.
Gypsyjen
I've used Sweetcakes' True Rose and it is fantastic - OOB, in CP soap, and in soy. ETA: No powder smell whatsoever.
Noodle
I have tired SOOOOOOO many rose fo's. There is no rose like the one from Sweet Cakes. It is so beautiful!
Darbla
This is kind of an old thread, so does anyone have any rose FOs to add here? That Sweet Cakes one sounds tempting though, and the one somebody said earlier smelled like tea roses. I used to grow tea roses so I'm kind of partial to that. sisterkaren
Peaks rose smells like the real thing, but it is strong, strong, strong. Our customers love it. I personally like CS's yellow rose, it is much more subtle. Good luck. :smiley2:
ChrisR
Sweetcakes True Rose is the best!!!
CathyinME
AH/RE Rustic Rose is so true smelling. I don't really like florals but this one is great.
Mostly Lurkin
Another vote for FOH Sensuous Black Rose - to my nose it's the truest (and non gaggy) rose scent.
Candybee
For a red rose I vote Peak's Rose Bouquet. For a yellow rose I go with CS's Yellow Rose. I love them both. They are also great by themselves or as 'rose' mixers for blending new scents.
jakalex
Definitely CS Golden Rose! No powdery smell. True rose!
