  1. It could be worse. It could be like other places, where they raised the FO prices & don't offer free shipping!
  2. 2% of 8 oz = .16 oz You'll have to weigh it out on your scale. If you have a calculater, just do: 8.0 X 2%(your calculater should have a % sign) & it will equal 0.16. So weigh out .16 oz fo & add it to your 8 oz of lotion for a 2% fo load.
  3. that would pretty much shut down 1/2 of etsy. Those fees are ridiculous. Thank you for posting this.
  4. My list of FO's that turn this base brown is growing longer, day by day. I can't believe nobody else has found this to be a problem. The more I test, the more fo's turn this base brown, some very dark brown. It's such a shame because me & my testers loved this base unscented. Some are taking as little as 2 days to turn brown. I wasn't planning on testing every single oil I own in it, but I guess I'll have to test as asked for, if I decide to use this base. I would have to delay giving the order out. I'd have to hold it back for a week to make sure it didn't turn before giving it. Usually I make stuff to order & it goes out as soon as it's made. But if I made this in an oil that would turn it brown, I wouldn't know because I'd have packaged it & sent it out while still white & then the customer would get it & it would turn brown on them in a few days. I'm so frustrated because I truly love this base.
  5. I bought the KY "Soy Whipped Body Cream" base about 2 months ago and have been testing many fo's with it. I like the base very much & plan on using it as a "body butter" since it is so thick & rich. I'm having a problem though. Many of the fo's I've tested it in are causing the base to turn colors. It starts off as a nice white base. I was expecting the "vanillas" to possibly do this, but many other fo's are doing this as well. The ones that contain a high vanilla content are turning brown within a few days. The other oils have turned not as dark, but dark all the same over the past few weeks. Has anyone encountered this, who has used this base? The feedback on the base itself has been very positive & people can't wait until I finish testing all my oils in this, so that they can get some of this stuff. I myself have been using it unscented, straight from the pail & my hands & feet are loving it.
  6. I remember some threads on here about them. Do a "SEARCH" (above, right) for "brighter" or "brighter scents" & see what comes up. HTH
  7. Wait a minute, is it a "concentrate"? If it's a base that is not a concentrate, but rather ready-to-use, maybe you weren't supposed to add the water? (I don't know if that would have anything to do with it.)
  8. I'm still tempted to try them. I know some people said they got bottles from them, but has anyone tried them yet for FO's?
  9. I too, go over the suggested .5% FO load on the WSP mist. I always do 2.5%-3%. But .5% is supposedly the suggested average amount, but I was told we can go higher, depending on the strength of the FO we are using, but not to exceed 3%. (I also use it for body & hair too.) As for using the Candlemakers Store's body/linen spray base: the 9% FO load is only if you are making a linen/room spray. If you are making it as a body spray, it's up to 3% fo load.
  10. well I feel a little better after reading your post. I was about to throw in the towel & give up on this whole bath & body thing for a moment there! I guess I will keep reading & testing & researching. I sort of wish I never found that! Although on the dictionary site, there are a few things I wish I hadn't read about certain ingredients as well! thanks again for your reply. I'm not hyperventilating anymore!
  11. Cosmetics Ingredients Dictionary link: http://www.cosmeticscop.com/learn/cosmetic_dictionary.asp?id=6&letter=A also found this SCAREY site: according to this, almost everything in every product can kill or harm us: http://www.natural-skincare-authority.com/cosmetic-chemicals.html#p
  12. Can anyone shed some light as to how to choose which one of these will hold scent better, not keep an overwhelmingly strong smell of alcohol that overpowers the fo? Do any of you love any of these & do you use a 20% FO load? I see SO MANY people stating that they use 50% FO load. I think that is too much. I guess I will test & sample each of these & see what I think, as with everything else: test, test, test. I was just hoping that I could get some opinions. Thank you. KY: Body/Linen Spray: $16.45 gallon FDA approved SD Alcohol, Water, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Bensophenone-2. SnowddriftFarms:16 oz/$11.95 32 oz/$19.95 SDA 40B 200 proof, isopropyl myristate, isopropyl alcohol Synergy Scents: 16 oz./$11 32 oz./$15 SDA-40B (and) Water SDA-40B (Specially Denatured Alcohol) This product consists of 90% SDA-40B 200 proof alcohol and 10% distilled water.
  13. For those of you that make sprays using KY's body spray/linen spray mist, how do you label the "alcohol" part? The ingredients on the site are: FDA approved SD Alcohol, Water, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Bensophenone-2. Do you print: "FDA approved SD Alcohol", or do you write what the exact kind of alcohol is? I know, this sounds like a dumb question, but I'm first starting research on the possibility of Body sprays that contain alcohol. Thank you.
  14. Does everyone get their Perfumers Alcohol from Snowdrift? I was going to order some to start testing out, but am wondering if there is somewhere else out there that others like? I'm going down the suppliers list & seeing which co's sell the stuff. I'd appeciate any opinions. I've only ordered a couple of FO's from snowdrift in the past & truthfullly, I didn't love the oils. The Demeter Vanilla Cake batter was a bit of a disappointment. But I've heard alot of great reviews about the Perfumers Alcohol, so I was going to give it a try. I also looked at Synergy &thought there was something at The Chemistry Store, but can't find anything. The one at KY seems like more of a Mist/splash? Thanks again for any help

  16. no, never heard of that? are we supposed to?
  17. thank you very much! (it seems that the 9% fo load would be for a room spray maybe, not necessarily a body spray) One more question, if you don't mind: I currently use the Body Spray base from The Candle Source(the WSP one). I wanted to try TheCandlemakersStore's because I'm thinking that the fact that it has alcohol in it, maybe the Spray would last longer on the body than the base I'm currently using. It's very nice, but does not last long.
  18. If you have the Body Splash from the Candlemakers Store, does it have the ingredients listed on the jug? Would anyone be able to post them? Thanks so much. I see it says this base can take up to 9% FO & that interests me, as most other bases I've seen out there it's more like .5% or 1% Fo that can be added.
  19. Some of my FO's came in plastic bottles & the bottles are starting to "suck in". If they are old oils, I'm throwing them away, for fear the oil inside has changed. But I've just gotten some NEW oils that already came slightly "sucked in". I'm not able to do amber glass, although I'd like to, but I'm going to use clear PET. I saw some on sale at a supplier for a good price, but they say PETE. Is that the same as PET plastic? Thanks for any help.
  20. Ok, well you got me thinking & I looked on another suppliers site where I'd gotten some FCO before & Lo&Behold: YOU ARE RIGHT. At MMS, under FCO it says:INCI: Triglycerides of Caprylic/Capric Acid Now I'm a little freaked out about what I've been using from WSP! Can anyone else chime in? I'm so glad you mentioned what you did! thanks!!!
  21. I have the gallon of FCO from WSP & the INCI Ingredient is listed as Hydrogenated Coconut Oil. I usually use it with cyclo to deal with FO separation. See.....from their site: Crafters Choice™ Coconut Oil - Fractionated Liquid Fractionated Coconut Oil is an expeller pressed oil and then solvent extracted oil that produced via chemical reaction between Coconut Oil fatty acids and glycerin. Ours contains no trace of hexane. It is a popular addtion to lotions and considered an excellent base for massage oils. Additional Product Information: INCI Ingredients: Hydrogenated Coconut Oil.
  22. If a recipe calls for adding Coconut oil (cocos nucifera) to a make a scrub, can I use Fractionated Coconut oil(hydrogenated coconut oil) as a substitute or will it not work well? thank you
  23. So how is KY's Lovespell? Now I'm interested too. I know it's a great selling scent for Valentines day. Anyone tried KY's?
  24. When you send each other sniffy's samples of FO, is it standard to send a q-tip dipped? or a cotton ball dipped? or do you send a small bottle with some in it? or spray a piece of paper? What is standard? thanks.
