eugenia Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Before Donita and her crackle method, all of these would have been sent back to the pot for surface flaws... pits... lost frost etc. Instead, I plunged them into 200 degree water and then a pitcher of water with lots of ice per Donita, and voila! Thanks Donita! You have done been a tremendous help by sharing this technique.e Quote

Kaybee23 Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Wow, those look great. I really like that crackle effect. Quote
Donita Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 I have 3 refrigerators.....one in "the house" one downstairs for beer and veggies and one in the studio for ice and to cool molds. Guess I am lucky. Also have a huge freezer in the basement. I have lots of room for ice, but bad thing is.......Virginia has a lot of power outages .....so when that happens...it really makes my life a mess......LOL Donita Quote
heirloomoriginals Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Those are all very nice. I love pillars, but don't have time to get into those yet!Steph Quote
Mozzie Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Great job. It's hard to imagine that they could ever have looked less than perfect (but I know better being a huge crackle fan). LOL Quote
topofmurrayhill Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Damn, you sure are right. They don't look like saves at all. They simply look awesome! Quote
MaryinCary Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 HmmmVery interesting technique, and I have a couple pillars I'm going to have to try that out on. Thanks again E & Donita Quote

Margaritamama Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Those candles look amazing..... I can't imagine that they looked bad before!I have a few candles that were destined for the "pot", but now I'm really leaning towards crackling them. Your candles have inspired me!!!!! Quote
Lolas Lights Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 wowzers...great saves even tho they don't look like saves, look like great candles... Quote

Mtngrl Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I partucularly like the colors of the orange, the green, & the red. Crackles look great! Quote
sharyl55 Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Great looking pillars. Hard to believe they were rejects. Wonder if putting bottles filled with frozen water in a pail of water would work instead of ice. My DH has our freezer full of gatorade bottles he uses for the coolers when fishing. May try it on some votives. Quote
Donita Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Sharyl....the water has to be ice cold. When I put plastic bottles in water it sorta insulates the ice.....you can try it and let us know if it works for you....just be sure to use the right wax....the one that mottles for you...Donita Quote
itsallgood20 Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Those are beautiful Eugenia! :highfive: Quote
