lsbennis
I guess the "Stars" don't care if they burn a candle with a wick that is not even centered properly!

SunshineSundries
Nah, Grumpy will make Oprah's list in a few years with a parasoy blend. That article is wrong on so many levels. I just can't even begin.OK - I make soy and veggie wax candles and I don't even agree with that article! The way that I market them isn't the same as the "average" soy candle because I don't go after the "clean burn" market (at least now after I've done even more research - still having to change my web page though!). I have had many quality para candles that don't leave soot anywhere and I've had soy candles that sooted up so bad I quit burning them! It's all in the quality of the candle and the intellegence of the candle consumer. If I do use a "marketing tool", it's that soy wax is a replenishable wax - but even that is misleading because they use para products to refine the soy wax/meal/oil and whatever else (much to the disappointment to my vegan friends!). I also don't say mine are 100% natural either because I use FO, color and a UV stablilzer - these are not natural! It irritates me to no end when people have their Blueberry Cobbler soy candle say 100% natural on it!! If you use FO, it's not natural!!!! OK - I better stop now before I totally lose it! lolAll I have to say is I wish I could get that kind of money for my candles! Maybe I should start sending some to some popular people.... Life & Light!Tish

girlyracer
Isn't that a pre requisite to being a celeb? ie full frontal labotomy? They never seem to be living in the real world.Ruby
ShelleyBean
YIKES 10.50 for a 4 oz candle tin lol. And from that pic, not centered at all. Wish I lived near some stars hehehehe
Candle Makin Momma
I love my soy and want some of those celebs to come spend their money with me! LOLBut I agree the article is nutso! Please tell me there are no paraffin ( or any candles) with animal fat in them. I just can't stomach the thought of burning a lovely candle and smelling fat! LMAO
MysticalMomma
Yeah, the animal fat thing turned my stomach, too..LOL
Crowded House
08/20/2002 - Updated 08:50 PM ETI don't get this part:Some paraffin candles are made from animal fat.I thought tallow was made from animal fat. Are there paraffin slabs that are a tallow/paraffin combo?
topofmurrayhill
They're talking about stearic acid.
Di_in_AZ
Basically try and stretch to dredge up anything that might remotely put the customers off paraffin and agree that your candles are best!

jillgunter
Some paraffin candles are made from animal fat. Vegan Alicia Silverstone hadn't burned a candle in six years until discovering Jenni Originals' soybean wax candles.WHAT? I have never heard of animal fat being in parrafin. Alohagirl
They're talking about stearic acid.Fortunately, not all stearic is made from animal fat. You can also get vegetable stearic which works the same and doesn't have that funky smell.
