  1. Can anyone give me a hint of what this smells close to? I love BCNs Cedar & Saffron but it is too expensive. Thks, Carole
  2. Carol, if I go to a supplier's website and buy a # of Apple Spice which is described as apples and spice. Then I make a candle with it and call it Apple Spice with same description. That IS NOT copyright infringement. When a supplier sells an FO, they let me call it anything I want including the name they gave it. Same with describing it. This is certainly not theft. Carole
  3. I have used 6006 in my 6 oz tins for 8 years. It is a beautiful wax, holds a lot of fo and is very easy to work with. It does get very soft in the hot weather, but who cares? Carole
  4. I have had 2 incidents of a candle catching fire. In both cases, it had nothing to do with the fos. When the candle gets that hot, the fo has already burned off. The wax itself got too hot and burst into flames. CDs are very hot wicks. I use l (one) CD7 in a 6 oz tin. It can get really hot in the bottom 1/3. In both of my cases, the candles had been burning for a long time. A soy/palm blend should be safer than my 223/soy blend, but maybe not. Container candles just cannot be burned for longer than 4/5 hrs. Thank God it didn't start a fire. Hope your Aunt is OK. Give yourself a few days for it to sink in and then re-write your Warnng Label. I say they can be burned for only 3 hrs. Carole
  5. I also agree, Leisa. The OP asked if the supplier's description was trademarked and it is not. I usually use my own interpretation but sometimes I use supplier's. Thks, Carole
  6. You are correct, some scent names are copyrighted, like Yankee's, B&BW's, but the description is NOT. The dupes we buy are copies of those fragrances, but the suppliers description is NOT copyrighted. BCN has a couple scents they have copyrighted, you can use them but you have to give BCN credit for them. I know nothing about BOTS and crawlers on a website, you may be correct. I've never had a problem or recv'd a cease and desist letter. Carole
  7. I think a supplier's description goes along with the name and can be copied to your website. BCN has a copyright on some of their scents and you must use BC beside it, but I don't think fo names and descriptions are copyrighted. If an fo is called apple spice then it's description is apples and spice, there is no copyright!!!! Carole
  8. I have seen it before and it is not mold. Maybe a reaction in the wax/fo when it sits. Just wipe it off! Carole
  9. I would not use straight fo in an electric warmer. The flashpoint can often be 120/160 degrees and an elec warmer could get really hot and cause the fo to ignite. With 6 warmers in your house, I'm sure you're not watching them constantly. Very dangerous! Carole
  10. 6 oz tins hold a little over 4 ozs. I have poured 1000's!!!!!!!! Carole
  11. Thks, Judy. That was not the thread I was thinking of. That would explain the inconsistencies in the 44-32s. Carole
  12. They were part of a 3,000 wick (1500 32s and 1500 28s) order from CandleWic. I think I did read something about that. But I thought the wicks were just coming out of their tabs. Carole
  13. Interesting on the moisture (hot & humid) factor. My wax blend does have soy added so that's a possibility. This has happened before with zinc wicks. I just don't think they are consistent from one batch to another. I wish I could find a replacement but other wicks aren't stiff/rigid enough for dbl-wicking a tureen. I give up!!!! but thks. Carole
  14. Anybody having problems with 44-32s? I have a big batch of wicks that just "stop" burning and get a greyish ash on the tip. These are in double-wicked tureens. Same wax and FO I've been using for yrs. Everything I am wicking with 44-32's are doing it. Thks, Carole
  15. Chuck, I wrote a similar post last year. Yes, some suppliers add fillers (?) to their fragrance oils. They think we are so stupid we will not notice. I have had several candles totally separate out. You can never get the supplier to admit it. So just don't buy from them! That is a "no-no" in my book. Carole
  16. BCS has a "Bird of Paradise" FO. It's Pomegranate and Strawberry. I liked it. Carole
  17. Thk you Eugenia and Scented. It must have been really "lye heavy." There definitely were swiss cheese holes with lye in them. I am not saving it!! Carole
  18. Just took pics. 1st, all 3 batches (other 2 were great,) pic of bottom cavern, next, you can still see lye water dripping out. It definitely did not saponify. The oils just separated from the lye. Food grade lye from AAA. All I can figure is batch was NOT at trace, or false trace?????? How the heck can you tell? Carole
  19. Scented, that is the best description. The lye water spewed out the bottom. There was a blister about 10" along the bottom of the loaf at least 3/4" deep. The FO was SWs Blue Sugar and we have soaped it several times. The only thing that comes to my mind is the lye was RT, the oils may have been a little warmer? This one may have to go to the soap gremlins. We are going to try it again only smaller batch this time, it's tough to lose 4#s of soap. Thks all, Carole
  20. We made 3 batches of CP yesterday. All went well. Today I unmolded them. Looked perfect. Tonight went to turn so bottom could dry out. 4# batch started leaking clear (lye water.) It was in blister on bottom, all hollowed out. Just started pouring out???? I have never seen this. Traced perfectly, colored part of it, swirled top perfectly. I had soaped this FO before with no problems. I've seen oil separate out, FO separate out, but never clear lye water (especially from bottom??) Anybody ever seen this???? Thks, Carole
  21. Have you tried Apple & Oak from BCN? I sell that one as "Leaves Falling?" I have never tried B&BW Leaves. Carole
  22. I knew you would know, Island Girl! My nose must be off. We poured Twigs today and I really thought it was close to C&Saffron. I guess it's the cedar that makes them seem close. I have never smelled Berries in the T&B. Thks, Carole
  23. Has my nose gone "wockers" or does anyone smell any similarities in these 2 scents other than the cedar? Bug
  24. They ended the $1.00 off for buying 5#s and said they adjusted all prices by $1.00 less. Their lowest priced fos are now $12.95 for any quantity. The 2% disc for online orders is gone, but they do let you accumulate points for future deducts. BCS still has the discount. Carole
