  1. I know that as soon as I saw that in the newsletter I immediately thought CS Basil and Herb, which is the one candle we sold out of in September if you can believe that. Maybe a nice mix?
  2. Wow, they are beautiful, congratulations!! Can I ask you a question? When you do a "private label order" do you brand with your name at all? Like a small clear label on the back or is it totally their product? I have not done any private label orders yet, only "custom labels" for some customers for birthdays, etc. Hope you don't mind me asking. Thank you!
  3. Haha, gives me a headache everytime. Well I was using a liquid measure for the FO (like a shot glass) and a tare scale for my wax (in lbs) and never converting the wax to oz to figure out scent load, when I finally did do the math I found that using 1 oz (liquid measure) to 1lb wax was a very low scent load (about 6%) which in my GB464 was very weak. So now I convert the wax lbs to oz AND I weigh my scent oil on my tare scale. All after I have done the math for each batch, like this: (___) of containers x (____) capacity per container= X / 20 = (____) lbs of wax needed or (_____oz) then (____) oz of wax x 10% = (____) oz of FO needed per batach (weight no volume) Did I just make your headache worse? Edited to say, there was quite a discrepancy when I actually WEIGHED my FO
  4. Adent1, sorry that you are having trouble and with a show coming up. I will say that it took me almost a full year to get close to satisfaction working with soy, I use GB464 and love it. I had a similar problem and it was my fault. Here was the issue. I was weighing my wax in solid form (lbs) and measuring my FO in liquid measure (ozs) When I did the CORRECT math and equation, weighing EVERYTHING in oz, I was actually using a fragrence load of just over 5%, really, really weak. I now am VERY PRECISE with my math and use a 10% load for the most part. I don't know much about palm wax, but maybe take a CLOSE LOOK at your math and measuring techniques? Just a suggestion. Hope you get it figured out, I know very well how frustrating it can be, like I said it took me almost a year of testing before I found a good technique, and I STILL have to tweak from time to time.
  5. Super, thanks so much for the hint, off to google now!Edited to say GREAT info about laying it on the table EccoLights, my luck they would hit the REFUND button......
  6. Have any of the current Square Up users here ever used anything but the customer's finger to sign on ipod touch or any other device. Such as just a plastic pen like at the grocery store? Thanks!
  7. I'm too new to know about this thread but LOVE IT! First weekend using our retrofitted presto pot.....Christmas Night, Bayberry, Santa Cookies, Patchouli, and Green Tea and Lemon Grass
  8. Just signed up for Square Up, reader should be here in a few days. Really excited, already have everything linked and ready to go on ipod touch!!
  9. I use 464 too and the CS Chocolate Chip Cookie is FANTASTIC! The HT from a 2oz tin knocked my socks off (and made me hungry)
  10. Hi Jill! I am pretty new to the forum as well, have been making candles for about a year and was SO GLAD to find this community. I use GB 464 as well and I love it. Have fun!!
  11. Thank you again Stella! I took your advise, lit my 6 oz that we have named "Christmas Night", beautiful, and cracked open a COLD COORS LIGHT to celebrate. It really is so worth every minute when you get a wonderful batch!!!
  12. SUCCESS!! Thank you Stella! I must tell you just tested our new Christmas tins, 6 oz, GW464, 10% Chirstmas Tree, CD8, PERFECT !!! PS I did one with CD10 and one with CD8, really close in performance except that the CD10 burned a bit quicker and the CD8 did wonderfully, GREAT HT !!
  13. Have to share this with you. I use GB464 (love it) and last week poured some tins, all the same size, same wick, same FO load (8%), BUT my "Awake" FO (peppermint and eucalyptus) came out beautiful on top and my Fresh Brewed Coffee was weird. Only difference was the FO. So, I simply took my heat gun, carefully, and fixed the tops of the coffee tins and done. So maybe the others that say it could be th FO are exactly right. OK, that's it, just wanted to share, hope this helps
  14. Wow...what great information!! Thank you so much!!! I could have kept the candle burning, I am going to burn it more and see what happens. Stella, I do use wick tabs and NEVER thought of how they could soak up wax. I left about 1/4" unmelted wax in the bottom of the jar, I guess I really should burn again to be sure what happens?? lilcountrymama, No I didn't have any flicker I did have that with the ECO 10s that I use
  15. Just a bit of a mushroom, not bad at all. I am REALLY happy with this combination. It makes me happy because I love working with the GB464. Finished burning and the jar is just warm. I could pick it up and hold it. I consider the candle done now, left a bit less than 1/4" wax at the bottom, don't you think?
  16. Hello all!! Well 3/4 way through the candle and its perfect and the HT is super!! I am so thankful for finding you all, I was sure that I had failed when I saw how long the first burn to MP took. YOU WERE RIGHT!! I will let you know how the jar heat is, should be done on the next burn?? Looks like I will stick with the CD10 with my 8oz jj for now, although I won't just assume other FOs, I will always test. If you have not tried the Chocolate Chip from CS you must..its great!!
  17. OK great, thanks so much, I WILL consider this a success. The same happend to me with testing an ECO 8, drowned out really fast, hence the CD10 test. lilcountrymama....good point, I will focus on the middle of the jar Thanks again friends!
  18. Hi there, quick question. Should I accept this? GB464, 8oz jelly jar, Chocolate Chip FO from CS, and first time with CD10 The HT was super BUT I did not get even close to a pretty nice melt pool until 3 hours and even then it was NOT the entire way, some hang up on jar sides. Then on burn #2 this morning had really nice melt pool that even took care of the hung up wax on jar sides. Would you...or Should I accept this as a successful burn test? This is my first use of the CD10 wick, I normally use ECO 10 and decided to test the CD's because I thought that the ECO 10 was a tad too much. Any thoughts? Thanks so much!!
  19. Hello, I don't know if this will help or not but I poured some 2oz test tins a few days ago, I use GB464 and I used ECO 4 wicks and they burned perfectly. I can also add that the fresh coffee from CS has a fantastic HT even though I had to fix the tops of all the coffee ones, must have been the FO because I poured 4 more with diffent FO and perfect tops. Again, not sure if it helps but I can tell you the ECO 4's in the 2 oz tins burned great.
  20. Thanks for the info, I will look around my local store to see what they offer. Its was just so funny, the last time I was there I picked up several, as you know you can't beat the prices, but then as I approached the register it dawned on me, Yikes....am I SURE I can use these. Thanks again for the information!
  21. Thanks!! Won't be long now So where in PA are you? I am near Hollidaysburg but travel a ton with my full time job and get back east a ton too. Not sure if I should be taking up forum space with a question like that so....sorry.
  22. Hmmm, I can't PM yet, not through my 30 days but I sure will when my 30 days is up Susan
  23. I get those holes too sometimes but I don't sweat it anymore, I simply use heat gun (carefully) to remelt so the hole fills in, it words great!! I used to use a hair dryer but took too long. I just really love this wax, it cures and burns so nicely. I just ran my first test with CD wicks, will let you know. I too have been pretty set with the ECO 10's BUT seem to burn a bit hot in my 8oz jelly jars. It will be great to swap info and testing results for 464, I will PM you. I'm new to the forum so if I still can't PM I will post here again.
  24. NurseNancy.... I love Christmas Tree Shoppes!! But how do you know that their cute Christmas and holiday containers are safe for candles? I have thought several times about buying them. Any hints? Thanks!
