  1. Good Luck to you too!! Have fun as well, I LOVE Christmas and this show has received really good reviews. Fingers crossed
  2. Nothing in the pot this weekend, big Christmas show tomorrow. Its only our second show and the only one we are doing for Christmas. We hope to come back with NO INVENTORY
  3. Super, thank you for the info, I'm a very "complete" record keeper, but again, the candle company is young and a different kind of reporting (Sole Prop. vs. S-Corp), so any information is priceless to me right now. Thank you again!
  4. Uh Ha Tracey!! I knew there was another common thread besides candles!! Thank YOU ! Susan
  5. NICE!!! The tops look so smooth. I LOVE working with GB464, its all that I use, I pour hot, seems to work well for getting smooth tops. Way to go and GOOD LUCK.... PS Thank you for serving!!! (I am USAF vet)
  6. Thank you deb426! So I do submit all my wax, wicks, fo, jar, label, etc receipts to the accountant along with year end inventory, such as for example (90) wicks, (2) cases jars, AND (48) 8oz candles ?
  7. Hi there, hope someone can answer this. I understand the business deductions but not sure about the supplies purchased. Do you claim $$ spent on wax, wicks, labels, etc. as an expense OR do you claim any and all supplies on hand and completed inventory as a liability at the end of the year. I'm just curious, I have a CPA do my taxes but my candle company is only 6 months old and would like to know what to expect. Hope I've asked the question properly. Thank you!
  8. Same here as with rjdaines, Cinnamon Stick from CS, GB464, CD10, 8oz JJ threw like crazy, one of my most popular, just poured an order of 10 for a customer after she bought one last month. Hope this helps.....
  9. MoonShine..hi there. As a one wax person (GB464) I can tell you that my HT has improved A TON since switching to CD wicks. I know that there are FO's that absolutely will not throw in my 464 so I move on if they don't. My tops are smooth as silk with 464 (pour at 160-165) and now that I put the containers back into their original shipping container to cool I've stopped having any next to wick sink holes too. Just wanted to share so IF you want to stick with 464 you can do it knowing that someone else has been where you are Hope this helps in some way..... EDITED TO ADD: Also, just a side note. I successfully wicked the big Libbey square jar from dollar tree, to fill line its 10oz, and the HT was SUPER!! I used a CD12, slow at first with corner hang ups BUT the nice slow burn added to the great HT, I'm sure. I am at the bottom 1/4 of the container and the corner hang is GONE, some milky residue on sides but I'm OK with that. I think that since 464 is such a soft wax that it might be perfect for this container......any thoughts?
  10. Hi there Tracey, finally got to PM you, also with some interesting news on CD10 in another container. Thanks again!!! Susan
  11. WOW, that is so nice!!! Thank you very, very much. Let me figure out how to PM you. Susan
  12. Thanks Moonshine! I'm glad that I'm not alone in the "more is better" thinking...at least we know now I would love to test the CDN wicks. I get my CD's from C&S, the Heinz CD's, when I called and asked for CDN she told me that they are the "Natural CD" wicks. At this link http://www.candlesandsupplies.net/Candle-Making/Natural-Coated-Wicks Is this correct?
  13. Hi Stella, thanks for the input! The container is fine on the CD10 (around the melt pool) is further up the glass that is a bit warm for my taste. My FO load is coming down. The 10% FO was a "knee jerk reaction" to a low HT candle....MY BAD...that has changed and especially now with your information on how it affects how the wick burns. Thanks so much !!
  14. Here are some updated photos of the head to head CD10 vs ECO10 battle. I test in 4 hour intervals. Any thoughts?
  15. Ha ha....I'm still a "one wax kinda gal", still, after over a year, getting know my 464 and all its surprises With the DT jar it won't be a head to head battle between CD's and ECO's I'm diving right in testing the CD14....However, I might try another test, (2) ECO 4's in the same jar, just to complicate my life
  16. Super, thank you very much for the vote of confidence in my "jumping off point", I really what to become well versed in choosing from my CD wicks, they seem to ADORE the 464
  17. Mornin Moonshine!! The testing is coming along great. I am traveling this week with my real job but brought both the ECO 10 and CD 10 candles with me. I thought that I would post more pics this afternoon since we saw the first part of the candle now the second half. The CD10 is still winning hands down, great HT. The ONLY negative I have found is that the jar (after a 4 hour burn) yesterday was just a bit warmer than I would imagine it would be, but no worries, still acceptable. This is a keeper FO for the 464 too!!! I think after today we can put the CD10 and the 8oz jj together as a winning wick/container set. I will be starting a new test on Saturday, the cute Libby jars from dollar general (love them, just a buck). I have not even attempted this jar and have not tested anything over a CD10 yet. So....I think I will jump right in with a CD14, sound right to you? 7.5oz and 3" diameter.
  18. I would be LOST without my notes, way too many variables. The pour sheets are priceless, at least to me. If I have not poured a particular jar in a while I pull the binder and look it up. Make the pour sheet, get a binder, you will be so happy that you did! My notes are a MESS which is why I developed our pour sheets. Alwayswondering, give it a try, you will be hooked
  19. Ha ha...Don't think I'll be changing wax anytime soon, just the thought of trying another wax makes me shake:) We will start the status jar test in the next few weeks though, we're trying to narrow our scope to (3) jar sizes per line, (3) lines, so still lots of testing but I will be happy to share the results. I was very close to pulling the CD10 in the 8oz jj until I went through the test. I still have to complete the burn but the CD10 is STILL winning.
  20. Glad it helped, sure helps me. This is how determined I am to "get this"...I developed what I call a "Pour Sheet" that is a form with spots for all the pertinant info for each batch, then when I test I shoot photos until I have decided on the right wick set for that container. I then attached the photos to the pour sheet and put it in my binder so that I can alway refer back to it, I am a visual person and need the photos to remind me. There is way too much info right now to jam into my head I used to simply take notes but when I refer back to them they are all over the place...ha ha....hence the new pour sheets I will post photos through til the end if that helps.
  21. No worries Moonshine...I'll let you know when I'm finished with this head to head battle Good luck with your testing, but sounds like Stella doesn't think its too bad so maybe you're good to go with the CDNs
  22. Thank you for you thoughts. I am with you 100%, I am sticking with the CD10, the JJ is 2.75 dia. Obviously I jumped the gun on wicking up. Here are some updates Edited To Say. Yes, 464 is correct
  23. Moonshine (love that name), Thank you...I too started using ECO wicks based on CS recommendation and have had issue after issue, hence making the move to CD wicks, which I want to use full time. As for HT, picture this, I have a very open floor plan downstairs and the candle is at the bottom of my stairs on a table, it can be smelled a ton in the powder room down the hall, hallway, up the stairs, bedroom around the corner, etc., NOT over powering just nice and smooth. The HT from the ECO candle is very strong, its filling up a BIG room, but still smells nice. I am going to back down to 8% FO. I will reserve my decision to wick up to CD12 AFTER I see how this test ends up. The thing I am having a hard time getting past is the customer seeing all the hang up on the CD10 during the first 4-6 hours. I will just have to explain that we wick for the MIDDLE and END of our candles.....Right?
  24. Here are the ECO10 Pics....Sorry, seems they're not in order. Any thoughts, opinions ? Edited To Say: Wick was off centered in the ECO candle...my bad
