  1. Oh OK, Your Mom was a hoot. All the meth lab & watching water boil comments with the distilling set up!! See you next year hopefully. Glo
  2. I couldn't get into CT yesterday, thought it was down and I was dying to come in and post about how great the gathering was. Abbie & Cheryl know what they are doing I'll tell ya. The most massive goodie bag I've ever seen. Holey Moley . I really haven't even gotten to check it out fully yet, my kids were all here for the weekend and I am worn out!! Playing with my fabulous grandbaby is tiring for an old Grammy. Debscent, how in the world did I miss you?? Did you come to our table?? I thought Kimberly, Mystical, Abbie & Cheryl were the only CT'ers there. The demos and speakers were among the most interesting I have ever seen and I am so glad the vendors were in the room as we sometimes miss all the fun when we get stuck out in the hallways. Mike was very impressed as well. Lychel from Candle Coccoon is the sweetest girl!! Hope she is able to come again next year. She is so knowledgeable and helpful and I just love her Fairy Dust & Twinkle Toes. Kimberly's recipes & demos were fabulous as expected, Janet is just a gem & her demos are always entertaining as well is informative. I really enjoyed the M&P gemstone soap demo as well and I didn't expect too as I rarely get into M&P. The finished products were simply stunning. The distilling demo was very interesting also. Lastly you girls outdid yourselves with the door prizes, very impressive!! I've been to MUCH larger gatherings and the prizes were not in this caliber. Anyone who missed this should really make plans early for next year because remember, this was a first time gathering for The Burgh!! I for one can't wait. Thanks Abbie & Cheryl for all the hard work, and thank you to all the others who so generously contributed in one way or another to one heck of a Gathering. Glo
  3. Yeah that is a great recipe Steph. Hope you have better luck with it than I did. Peeps just didn't have much interest in bubble bath at my shows. Not bombs either (I actually have made really good bubbling ones). What I did sell lots of was egg shaped bombs with a surprise inside for kids, but I think that was due to my DD Kim's salesman technique. She is really great at the shows till she gets bored with it. Once she told someone that the bombs would eat their skin off , I think she was trying to describe the fizzing? We didn't sell any to that lady. LOL Glo
  4. Kind of wondering how you know the scents on the other site are just like Berts for sure. Manufacturers "mix" what the purchaser asks for. You can get just for candles that is NOT skin safe, or for b&b & candles (skin safe), only for soy wax or only paraffin wax. You can choose a price range too, some cheaper fragrances are weak in applications. I've tested samples that I found too weak and had the manufacturer make a pricier, stronger FO. The same name on the bottle doesn't mean the same thing in the bottle, there are many variables. Some companies will not sell the same formulation to two suppliers. They tweak them a bit so it is exclusive to one supplier. Bert and the other higher priced supplier may buy from the same manufacturer but they could be very different formulations. Glo Edited to say I am not disparaging Berts FO's in any way, just saying that you can't be sure a fragrance oil is skin safe if the supplier you buy from can't confirm it.
  5. You know other than the leaf pattern around the edges (which I would never have noticed unless someone hadn't pointed it out) I don't see the similarities. Never would have given it a second thought if I was surfing the two sites one after the other. Fonts, pics different and as others have said the general lay out of banners and headings etc is very generic to everyones sites. She may have used the same designer as you, may well have gotten the name of the designer from your site but unless you have exclusive rights to the leaf pattern ( and if you do , contact the designer) I'd look the other way. If this account has $$$ potential I would let it go. Just my opinion mind you. Glo
  6. Well now that sounds like a good idea to me!! LOL. Glo
  7. Well the truth is I goofed. It was delivered to my son's address and we forgot to bring it home with us when we were up for vacation. Duh!! But we are going up again to see the Grandbaby in a couple of days so I WILL REMEMBER it this time. I only have a few ounces on hand at my place right now. I used it in my liquid soap for a bath gel for hubby and I've been using it myself even though it's supposed to be a man's fragrance. I love the scent!! Glo
  8. Here is a petition and more info on this Bill: http://blondesense.blogspot.com/2008/06/fda-globalization-act-of-2008.html http://www.indiebusinessblog.com/indie_business/2008/06/stop-the-fda-gl.html Glo
  9. We use the hard PET bottles at Backwoods. Glo
  10. No not gone. Stock was really low so I pulled that and Blue till I get a new shipment. Glad to hear you like it so much. Actually I'll put it back on the site now as when we reopen next week I will have my shipment. My eight new ones should be here by then too. Glo
  11. Our best selling scrub is Pear Vanilla. Just did a bunch of PV for a girl's wedding who works with Hubby. She just loves that scent. Glo
  12. Well I had a nice surprise at our first show today. I really was dreading doing it what with the economy and gas prices I really thought it was going to be a waste of time, but it is a very little local herb festival & it's the kind where you can let the kids go and not worry because you can pretty much see the whole show grounds no matter where you are. Well anyway we were quite busy and did 8.5 times the table even though we got rained out and packed up early. I was so surprised, even hubby was pleased. Someone said to me that since people can't afford gas for vacation that maybe they will spend a little extra at festivals. Lets hope so. We also sold a little bit of everything which was really nice. The kids did pretty well with the wooden roses too. Glo:cool2:
  13. I would love a slab mold and have been interested in the Silver Moon. Glo
  14. Yep these have been around for a while. I sold a ton at shows for a couple of years and then they died out in our area. http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36623 Glo
  15. These links to Elle's loofas are really informative: http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6370&highlight=loofa http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6506&highlight=loofah HTH, Glo
  16. I love the Poppy Petals one. Gorgeous. What is the part under the petals kind of curling down into the soap?? Glo
  17. Congrats Sabrina, I'm sure she will love the order. Glo
  18. You must have very nice postal workers at your office. Mine had a mail "specialist" from halfway across the state call me and tell me I cannot use flat rate envelopes if the contents alter the shape of the envelope. Our local replacement post mistress took it upon herself to tattle, because she didn't like me using FR envelopes for anything but papers. Yet I continue to get the envelopes delivered to me from other companies altered to all get out. Glo
  19. I'm not sure how unethical the rewards programs they offer are. You do however have to follow the guidelines or you will be charged. I believe many companies offer similar rewards programs, I have personally signed up for at least 3 "free" trials and a 30.00 cash rebate with Vista Print in the past and have had no problems. The "problems" arise when you fail to follow the directions and cancel your "trial" within the 30 days. The offers clearly state if you do not cancel by calling the toll free number you will remain a member after your trial and be charged your monthly fee. If I do choose to get a "rebate" I always read the small print-you don't get nuth'in for nuth'in and we all know this. The small print tells you why it's not for nuth'in. Follow the directions and most of the time you are OK. Sometimes the small print lets you know it's not worth the hassel for 10.00. A recent ebay purchase offered a nice shipping rebate , but when I read about it, it seemed troublesome & scammy, so I passed on it. I do lots of things like this and only rarely do I have a problem. Actually the only problem I remember was Scholastic Book service charging for books after I canceled and returned a shipment of my kids books. When I sign up for anything at all I make a post it note with all applicable info and cancel by date and stick on my PC, that and my cell phone keep the charges from showing up on the CC. Hey I love the virtual CC # though-that sounds great!!! HTH, Glo PS, I have loved everything I have ordered from Vista Print in the last 2 years-I don't love the constat spam emails though. And they continue to say you can try free products but once you have sampled an item for free they charge you even if they send you a "freebie" offer. At least in my experience. My DD ordered from them too with nice results. Personalized T shirts for MOMMY!!!
  20. You must go by what each supplier lists as to the applications their fragrances are safe for. Many differerent manufacturers out their and the names mean nothing as to what the actual components are in the fragrances. Candle fragrances are just that-only for candles. Skin safe are formulated to be safe used in skin preparations. Maybe Carbear will chime in here-I believe she works for a FO manufacturer. I do know that you cannot just "test" them yourself and say "Hmm, no rash , must be safe". Long term effects of skin absorption etc. must be considered. Carebear, WHERE ARE YOU???? Glo
  21. What a fabulous opportunity Space Girl. Hope it all works out for you and you have a ball and make a million!! Glo
  22. Beautiful. Is this of the 70's Herbal Essence Shampoo or something they make now. I loved the shampoo from the early 70's. I bought several FO's that were supposed to be it but they weren't. Glo
