  1. Me neither but grateful all the same.
  2. I think I answered but not sure.
  3. Thanks Everyone. The is not even a craft show. It is the Annual event held by the Junior League each year in November that kind of officially kicks off the Christmas shopping season. There are probably 500 vendors there with everything from clothing, furniture, jewerly, cookware, wrapping paper, packaged food items, home made fudge and divinity, kitchen items, did I mention clothing, jewelry(lots of those). That is why I was actually suprised they aren't letting the S company in. They have had a booth there for the last couple years. I kind of think there might be too many ladies in Junior League that sell Scentsy and being that they are too busy running the event they aren't letting anyone else do it. Oh well, works great for us. I think I will contact the chairman and see if the booth space they has been previously assigned to the other company is available.
  4. I am so excited. Every November there is a huge holiday themed trade show that attracts about 15000 people over a 3 day period. I signed up for it last year and took mostly candles but threw in some scented wax melts and warmers. I sold out of the warmers after the first day and sold 5 times as many wax melts as I did candles. Scentsy was there at the same show as well and I assume they did very well. Saw alot of their warmers in those clear plastic bags walking around. This show helped get my name out and pick up some customers. I decided to go ahead and do it this year just to make sure everyone knew we are here to stay. The booth cost is not cheap for sure. Any way I received an email this morning from the Junior League chairperson from the show and here is the exact wording. "We want to let you know well in advance that we are not allowing any items provided by a tier marketing or Multi level marketing company. Theses companies include, but are not limited to: Scentsy Mary Kay Avon Watkins It Works Wraps Stella & Dot Velata Fondue Vault Denim JamBerry Nails Love Your Du" Now I really need to rethink my plans for how much to stock in warmers and have much inventory to stockpile of tarts.
  5. I get the Holiday Cafe Au' Lait from them. It is a Taylored Concepts FO. Smells just like fresh brewed coffee. Big Seller for us.
  6. You should probably sign up for a credit card account so you can accept payments via credit or debit card. I know Intuit Go payment and 4 square both have apps you can use on your smart phone and they send you a free card swiper. I am sure there are others as well.
  7. I have a shelf that goes around my candle room. Kind of reminds me of a train track for a miniture train. A-G on one side. H-Z on the other. I try to keep them somewhat in ABC order. This is for my 16 -32 oz bottles. My samples I am sad to say get thrown in an empty box in the corner and when I get time I go through it and see which ones I want to try.
  8. Oh yes, molasses is the main additve to sweet feed for sure but usually it is a processed molasses that has additives one of which can be anise. Usually in the more premium sweet feeds and not the cheaper ones. If I remember correctly I think anise is added to most premium horse feeds. Gosh, I just remember how much I miss working there and smelling the feed right out of the the mixer, lol. May have to go visit my buddies!
  9. You might want to add some anise if it is out there somewhere. I worked at the checkerboard feed company for years and anise is a flavoring used in the sweet horse feeds. Licorice(sp?) is what it smells like. Everytime I am around horses that have eat sweet feed I can smell that.
  10. I am glad to see the bar is open, lol. I have to admit at times during the busy season my husband gets to missing me and brings a refreshing beverage or 2 out and watches.
  11. Thanks so much. Of course will all spaces there are things I would do different but for the most part it works well. Just wish it were bigger and had a bigger air conditioner, lol. I for to add that I line the table tops with kraft paper and then just rip that off and replace to get it clean.
  12. I have one going almost 24 hours a day. Never had that happen
  13. I am very lucky. When my sister and I started doing this our father and my husband built us a room in my father's barn which is actually a large metal building. It is insulated, we have a window unit ac/heater a ceiling fan and a small desk in the corner. 3 walls have mid torso high countertops that go all around shaped like a horseshoe. We keep our melter in 1 corner and on that same end is all the dye, additives, spoons, measuring cups etc. Right next to the melter I have a toaster oven that I put my pouring jars in to heat up. next to the toaster oven is the wicking station. On this same side of the horseshoe is where I keep "stuff" wicks, sample scents, notebooks, office supplies etc. The other side of the horseshoe is where we do all the pouring. We can if needed pour about 200 candles on that side and leave the to cure. Underneath our counter tops is open but we do have a bottom shelf all the way around. We put all our empty jars, extra wicks, lids, unused supplies on one side. The other side we put all our finished candles that we have made for stock and any overflow unused supplies. I have a 4 shelf metal stand on the open end of the room with no counter tops. Top shelf has items for shows, second has all the warmers I have in stock, 3rd and 4th shelves we use for staging for orders going out. Up against the wall just outside the door we store the rest of the empty jars and cases of wax. We are able to do that since our shop is inside another building. Of course we overflow at times into the rest of my dads shop much to his disappointment. He also built us a cart that rolls that is the same height as our counter tops. When we wick jars we put them on top of the cart and can just roll them to where we need them. We also have a
  14. Gotta finish a fundraiser. Pomegranate Fresh Linen Cinnamony Vanilla Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce Caribbean Bird of Paradise, lots of this one Butt Naked Birthday Cake Thank Goodness no Leather this time. We sell alot of Leather but i can't stand pouring it.
  15. We sell tons of A&F Fierce from Just Scents. However if you want something less cologne smelling I suggest Indonesian Teak from Southwest Candle Supply. I made tarts of this and I have had a tart in by burner for am entire week and I can still smell it, however it is not "strong". Men and women love this in candles but I think it would make a really good soap.
  16. We use a whisk and really whisk hard for about a minute. You might also try a few beads of vybar. When you whisk it there will be some bubbles that form on the top. Just let it sit for a minute and they go away. If there are any left I just tap the side of my pouring pitcher a few times.
  17. I think if it works for you and you are happy with it that is all that matters. Being that it is summer it is going to be fairly slow at those type events anyway. Try it for now and hopefully it pays off for you in the fall. If it doesn't they you might not want to do it next year. I have never done a summer booth. Had one in late September last year here in Texas which is still summer. Sold about $600 and the booth rental was $100. Sold more tarts than anything which like you I am primarly a candle person. Seems like the tarts always go over better at anything like that, thanks Scentsy, lol. I am bouncing around an idea to add insect repelling candles and sprays for the summer to see if that goes over.
  18. Pineapple Mango Pink Victorias Secret White Tea & Ginger Rattlesnake Grass
  19. Absolutely love the Spiced Cranberry. This is our top Christmas seller. Alot of times I will order from Bitter Creek South instead because they do stock some of the North favorites, Spiced Cranberry being one of them. From South we use the Holiday Wassail, another big Christmas seller and Pumpkin Spice, sells all fall and their Red Hot Cinnamon is really good as well.
  20. I agree on TN Spicy Apples & Peaches. When I can get it from them I do but in a pinch I will go with The Candle Source and the customers don't notice. If I remember correctly TN was having a problem getting one of the ingredients for their version. It is something alot of the suppliers were struggling to get and some had to reformulate. Can't remember the ingredient though.
  21. I use Pumpkin Spice from Bittercreek South. It smells just like Pumpkin Pie to me. I just want to drink it when I pour it smells so good and I don't even really eat pumpkin pie. One of our top sellers in the fall. It does have the spice kick to it but that is what makes it smell like pie. There is a pumpkin crunch cake I get from Natures Garden that smells more like true pumpkin. People like it but if they have a choice they always go with the Pumpkin Spice. We actually renamed it to Autumn Splendor.
  22. I have never made it but the lady I bought my business from said she had a customer who wanted a "weed" candle. I believe she used Cannibus Rose from NG. Customer said it smelled perfect.
  23. Already tested a couple. Still looking for one perfect Christmas Tree scent. Will start pouring August, if it is not too hot here. Try to build of stock to help cover shows, fundraisers and wholesale accounts. Will probably make around a 1000 candles and then fill in from there as needed. Sure makes for better pricing on supplies doing it that way.
  24. Last year I had candles stored for 9 months in my closet and they were good. To be honest I think there were probably better than the ones we made and sold after just a week of curing. Maybe after a couple of years it might hurt them. I think the guy that said he put them in the freezer is a little nutty, lol.
  25. I have blended Pumkin Cheesecake with Very vanilla and it was great.
