  1. As much as I like Peak's stuff, I have an Amazon gift card that I'd like to use on scents. Can anyone recommend a good brand/seller? And I think this forum is Peak's, right? So is this question even allowed? :undecided
  2. Yeah, I thought it was kind of weird. I know the one at work spat at least once, and we thought maybe there was a bit of water in it. I can't see it being the warmer though. Got a cheap one from Walgreens and it's doing fine. Thanks for the input, everyone!
  3. How horrible would it be if I got a hot plate and just sat the pot on it? I keep a thermometer in it and never leave it alone, if that matters. Most of the video tutorials I've watched do the same thing, too, which is where I got the idea from.
  4. Our stove has a vent cover that makes it hard to work with melted wax when we're making candles. Electric burners (is that even what they're called?) look like they'd be way easier. Are they recommended/a bad idea? If they're fine to use, what brand do you like/know of, and what are they actually called so I can see if someone carries them in a store in town? Edit: Also, to clarify, I do not mean the big pots, I mean something almost like a hotplate, maybe? I'm really not sure what they're called, but I'm pretty sure what I'm thinking of are flat. Edit 2: Would something like this work? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Aroma-Single-Burner-Portable-Electric-Range-Hot-Plate-AHP-303/5871070 Do you still need to keep the pour pot off the direct heat if you use one of these? Or can you just set it on there?
  5. I'm buying a candle warmer and was looking at some online, just the little flat electric ones, and some of the reviews say if they leave the candle very long it starts spitting wax. They're blaming it on the warmer, but I thought I'd ask here, is it the candle or the warmer making the candle spit? I don't want to buy a warmer that does that, but if it's the candle then I'm going with that store. tl;dr: Is it the candle's fault or the warmer's fault when there is wax flying?
  6. Thanks, everyone! justajesuschick, I really like your idea. Would you happen to have a link to the store you bought yours at? I'm only seeing mini-bundt pans that are six stuck together, no separate ones...
  7. Is that bad, as far as scent goes? Also, should I add more fragrance than I would normally add to a candle, or is it the same?
  8. I've got a little round electric candle melter and I usually melt a jar candle on it. I know most people make little wax melts and I was wondering if making a jar candle without a wick just to melt like this was bad since it's not little like the melts? If not, can I make a normal candle with a container blend, and just pour it in a jar with no wick and use it as a melting candle? I'm moving into a dorm soon and won't be able to take my candles with me, so I'm looking at alternatives!
  9. Because it heats unevenly, or why? I know it's really annoying. It starts boiling under the pot and moves it around... :\
  10. Okay, thanks for all the suggestions, my second candle turned out way better. Still had a couple of bubbles, but nowhere near the amount the first one had! I poured at 180-ish and remembered to tap it... Also poured way smoother, not so fast. On my third candle I did find out that chunk candles DO NOT like to come out of the mold. Might need to get some spray Pam? Any suggestions? I ended up having to put in in the fridge for an hour. In the gallery section, is it just for pretty and unique candles or can I put a post with my first bunch of candles? I don't want to annoy people with my noob candles, but I think they're pretty! (I do want to at least put my chunky candle there.)
  11. My heat source is my stove, a water-filled pot with my pour pot inside. I'm using IGI pillar blend, 4625, 1lb. Just that, scent, and color. (1oz Orange Blossom, 1 dye chip) I know that I don't really think before posting. I just get a question in my head and ask, then later I think to myself, could I sound more ignorant? :rolleyes2
  12. No, I'm using a pour pot and large sauce pan, double boiler style. Eventually if I keep liking it this much, I might have to get one. :smiley2:
  13. With the wax I meant that everything says to use things that you'll never use for food with wax, and I was wondering why, since they put wax on food. I'm wondering if it's the wax or if it's just the FO that's bad. (I know the FO is, but is the wax?) Thanks for the help. I'll just go get something from the store then.
