  1. I just recently bought some creme brulee and even though I really like this scent by itself, I'm looking for ideas on other FO's to mix with this to come up with something different this year. I've got a lot of different pumpkins, vanilla, caramel, coffee scents that I've not carried in the past so do any of you use any of these with a little creme brulee? TIA
  2. I use the clamshells for mine. This way all I have to do is melt it, scent, dye and pour right into the mold. Once the soap has set up, close the lid, place the label on it and I'm done. The clamshell has the hang hole so I can hang them on a rack if wanted or they will stack nicely. Customers can also open them to smell them. **ETA: I only do the rectangular bars right now. I've not made any using molds but have thought about getting into those during the holidays this year. Thought I would clarify that the bars are the only shapes I am doing.**
  3. Here are the ones I have tried and really like so far: I absolutely LOVE their shea butter base! I can't keep enough of it! The goat's milk has done great for me, too. I just bought some honey, olive and shaving bases but not really done much with those just yet but will be in the next couple of days. I have made some of each up and given out to friends and family to try and they really like them but I've not tried them yet. I've not tried any of the others so not much help there. I do know that a lot of people really like their bases but that doesn't help you out much does it?? I'm sure you will get some great feedback from others on here that have used the others you are asking about. You might do a search, too and see what you find if you haven't already. On a side note, we have made it to 5 cases so far! The min. is 7 so we're getting real close!
  4. No problem! I've bought a lot of stuff from Sue and NEVER had any types of problems with anything with her. She is very fast and they make their own molds that I have tried a lot of. All high quality and if you ever have any questions about anything my experience has been that she is always very helpful and normally very quick to answer you. I've shopped her ebay store for several years now. I had my mold within a couple of days but we only live about 100 miles from each other and she even offered to let me pick up so wouldn't have to pay the shipping unfortunately I wasn't able to make the trip b/c of my back surgery. Anyway, glad to pass the information on to all of you. I know I have had nothing but positive transactions with her and I wouldn't have passed the information on about her if I hadn't! She's super sweet and great to work with! If you do have any questions about the molds feel free to pm me. I use several different m&p bases so if there is anything I can help with don't hesitate to send me the pm. I would see the pm long before I would see this thread!
  5. Thanks for the ideas! I soak mine in the aluminum baking pans which works great for me! I like to try to save as much of the oil as I can while they are drying, this way I can just add a little more to it if needed the next time I make the same scent. Right now I am trying some screen wire we had out of some old windows, laying the screen wire over the pan I used to soak them in hoping to catch as much of the oils as I can. I really like the idea of the canning jars! I've got a ton of those and other jars that I won't be using so will be trying this method also! Again, thanks for all the suggestions! One of the reason I love this board so much!
  6. I've been making this for a while now but am looking for a better way to dry the sticks. I currently use an old trellis I have to hang the sticks from for drying. The problem comes in when some of the sticks will drop off of the trellis and I am drying a couple of scents at a time. I twist tie 10 - 15 sticks together and put a label next to the area each scent is as it dries but when I get more than one of the sticks that drops off while they are drying if I don't actually see where it dropped from at times I have a hard time figuring out which scent it is. My room will be scented with a mix of the fragrances I have used which is where my problem comes in when trying to figure out where the stick goes. I could dry one scent at a time but with doing that it would be way too time consuming especially when I usually will make a few batches at a time. I was just wondering what methods any of you use for drying your incense sticks. I've done a search on here but not came up with any information as far as drying goes. A lot of great information on how to soak the sticks now I just need a better way to dry if anyone has any suggestions that would be great! TIA
  7. The clamshell molds I get off of ebay from Sue are the 5 oz size also. I just ordered some of the 2.7 oz from MMS b/c I wanted some of the smaller ones for "sample" type sizes. If you are wanting the larger ones I would definetly check out Sue on ebay though b/c her prices are a lot cheaper than others and like I said, she ships fast and the quality of her items have been great that I have got from her. I always buy my clamshells from her.
  8. I buy my clamshells for soap on ebay. The seller is ibuypast and I get mine 100/$19.95. They are great and much cheaper than any other place plus she doesn't kill you with shipping charges like the suppliers do. I have never had a problem with her when ordering and order other molds as well. Everything I have received from Sue has been top quality so you should give her a try. She ships super quick also.....buy one day and usually ships out next day or same day depending on the time and have my items usually within 3 days. 9. Wow! Thanks for all of the suggestions! Talk about a lot of places to start out with ordering and trying new scents! I'll be busy, busy, busy with all of these suggestions that's for sure! Thanks again!
  10. I use GB 415 and I am wanting some strong fragrances and different scents this year. I normally go with cinnamon buns- need a really strong scent for this one and haven't really been able to find one yet, homemade apple pie (KY is my fave on this one), pumpkin apple butter (NG), pumpkin souffle (CS), Vanilla Pumpkin Pie (candlechem is my fave for this), looking for a strong cinnamon (usually have trouble with wicking this one). Anyone used Carrot Cake from KY?? I bought a Carrot Cake from Gloria (sockmonkey) that was excellent and I normally don't like this scent so am looking for another really strong Carrot Cake b/c I sold out of this as soon as I put the candles in the shop! Would like some suggestions on cranberry scents, cinnamon pumpkin types, minty/wintery types, apple/cinnamons, banana nut bread, gingerbread, ciders.....anything that is hot for fall. It's been a while since I've done much in the way of fall scents so am just wondering what fragrances any of you would suggest along with suppliers. Would like to get started with ordering some samples to try out to see which ones I really like. Any suggestions would be great! TIA!!
  11. I love making incense due to how easy it is to make. I don't do craft shows, etc, but sell on etsy and even with all the candles and melts I have listed on there my incense is what I sell the most of. I have no iea why bbut this is what moves for me before melts or candles. Maybe it has to do with the pricing or something I don't know since these are cheaper than what I sell my candles and melts for. My prices are vey comparable to what others sell incense on etsy for and I have really big variety of scents to choose from, too. Maybe people like that with being able to have more scents avaialbe to choose from? I really think it does depend on the market in the area you live in as to how well it will sell. I know that I love making it in addition to my candles, melts and air fresheners. It's easy to throw together a batch of a new scent then let it soak for the needed time then hang to dry, pkg, label and be done!
  12. Thanks! What is TKB? Not familiar with that supplier.
  13. I have searched this topic to see about places to buy dyes for M&P I have found mostly micas or powders so was wondering about liquid dyes? I have seen a few places sell the Wilton colors and I do have these but are they really good for using for M&P soaping? I have Michaels and Hobby Lobby close by but have never checked either place for liquid dyes so do any of you use their dyes or do they even carry them? Sorry for all the questions. When I was doing my soaps before I bought my dyes from the classy ads and can't remember where they came from b/c it's been so long ago!
  14. I don't know exactly what you are looking for but I have went thru www.thecandlesource.com and have been very happy with the warmers Loren has. He has started selling some really nice classy looking warmers and does wholesale as well. He has a $100 min. order but I've never been disappointed with any I have got from him at all!
  15. Thanks everyone! I am pouring the wedding day today to see how it turns out and then going to try the cherry lemonade also if I have the time. I appreciate the suggestions. Will let you all know how they turn out!
  16. I got my order from Millcreek today and was reading the insert that was sent with the oils and noticed that it states to use 1.5 oz./lb of fragrance in soy wax. Normally I can get by with using 1 oz. per lb. so was just wondering for those of you that use their oils in soy (GB 415) if you use the amount they recommend of 1.5 oz or do you use 1 oz.? I got my Cherry Lemonade, Wedding Day and Lovespell today and they smell really nice ootb, can't wait to put them in wax! I am going to check out some of the scents listed below that Candlebuddy suggested to me and VS Endless Love will be in my next order!. Thanks for the suggestions on the 3 I got, I agree that they are excellent dupes of Ynk and VS! If anyone has used any of these I have listed in soy let me know what you think of them b/c I want to get my order placed in the next few days. I'm thinking about trying some of these scents: Ynk dupes: Buttercream Citrus and Sage Pineapple Paradise Has anyone tried their Frosted Carrot Cake? Sockmonkey kind of spoiled me with her Carrot Cake so didn't know if Millcreeks even comes close to what she had. Thanks for the help and Candlebuddy.....I really appreciate your suggestions!
  17. Thanks carol! I went in and checked the pricing between candles and supplies and the sage and they are cheaper after shipping at the sage than they are before shipping at candles and supplies! Thanks for the suggestion b/c I always compare pricing so that helped me! I appreciate the replies from all of you on this!
  18. I am going to try Millcreek for Cherry Lemonade and Wedding Day (this is their fragrance special of the month so it is 15% off right now!) I used to go thru WSP for the Cherry Lemonade but with the prices they are charging now for the oil w/ shipping, I'm not willing to pay $34 for a pound of this so want to find another supplier. I carry Winter Candy Apple, Midnight Pomegranate JS), Black Raspberry Vanilla (NG), Japanese Cherry Blossom(NG), and Cool Cucumber & Melon(Wellington) so far. I've been pretty happy with these scents with the exception of the Japanese Cherry Blossom from NG, just not as strong as I would like for it to be in my soy. I also love Sweetcakes oils, they have all been really good and strong in my soy with the ones I have tried so I am going to check them out also b/c I did see that they carry many dupes of what I am looking for. I absolutely love their Sweet Brown Sugar and Spice...it throws so strong in my soy that I cut it back to 1/2 oz per pound and still get a great throw. Thanks for the link on the fragrance oil finder! I had never seen that before and it is full of information so it gives me ideas on where to look! Will let you all know what I decide to do and where I buy from but I am sure that Cherry Lemonade and Wedding Cake for now will be Millcreek and maybe some others, too! I am wanting to try Sensual Amber, White Tea & Ginger, Juniper Breeze, Coconut Lime Verbena and Water Blossom & Ivy.
  19. Thanks Luminous.....The Sage is where I bought them at last time! I knew if someone mentioned it to me that I would remember! Off to order me some clamshells for my soaps!
  20. I just notice this thread so wanted to jump in with my candle co name. I've always put little inspirational bible verses on my candle labels as long as customers don't object....they have the choice to have them with or without. I lived a pretty hard life until I met my husband a little over 26 yrs ago....marriage to my 1st husband was abusive, etc. Anyway, my FIL is/was my preacher (has been since I was a little kid but I never knew my husband b/c he is 10 yrs. older than I am) so church has been a big part of my life so, I came up with the name of "Scentspirational Scents Candles and Gifts". I honestly believe that God brought my husband and me together and thru our faith and trust in Him we have made it thru some tough spots and came out of them stronger as well as managed to hold our marriage together through it all. This is just my way of being able to express my faith through something that I love doing!
  21. If so, could you let me know where to get them? I bought some a long time ago off of ebay but can't find them on there now. I stopped making soap but am wanting to begin again to add to my line. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
  22. Thanks! I appreciate the link and also the other suggestions! I am going now to check them all out!
  23. Thanks for the help. I have midnight pomegranate from JS and it is pretty good I think. I used to get the Cherry Lemonade from WSP but when I checked their site the price of their oils have really went up. I think this one was $34 a lb with shipping as were most of the other dupes. I really like their oils, too. I guess maybe I should send them an email to see what their shipping charge would be for more than one oil b/c they had quite a few that I am looking for. Has anyone ordered from them lately to tell me about how they do shipping on multiple bottles? I really like what they have but I just can't afford to spend that much right now. I haven't tried the search to see who carries what. Anyone point me in the direction of this? I didn't even know that there was one on here! I must have missed that somewhere!
  24. I'm interested in most of them. Really don't have any one particular in mind! I'm trying to add more variety to my line right now b/c I have a lot of floral, sweet type scents. So any suggestions on some that would get me away from these types of scents would be great. Best sellers for those of you that use the BBW's dupes would be a great starting point also! The yankee scents I am pretty specific on as well as VS scents.
  25. Any suggestions as to where to get the closest dupes of these scents? Yank**: Cherry Lemonade Wedding Day Vanilla Cupcake Victoria S: Pure Seducion Lovespell Endless Love Rapture I also would be interested in any suggestions for the B&BW's dupes. I've done a search on these dupes but haven't found any of these scents mentioned so....if anyone has any suggestions please let me know! Thanks!
