  1. I've used the Pumpkin Apple Butter last fall, it sold fantastic for me. I didn't much care for it OOB but in my soy wax it was pretty strong and customers loved it. I used this one to replace my Vanilla Pumpkin Pie and it did the job for those who were just stuck on VPP. The others I've not tried so can't help with them. Glad to see you went with the samples, much better way to start testing the oils rather than spending a bunch of money and be stuck with things you don't like. Let us know what you think of those you have bought and good luck with testing them!
  2. This sold very well for me last fall. I really liked the scent and it was fairly strong in soy for me. Like Sharon said, we all have different noses so what one likes another may not. I know it's been said time and time again, but the best way to see if the scent is something for you is to order a sample and go from there.
  3. Well I was going to order some wicks from them but when I entered my address this is the message I got: Sorry! We are unable to provide shipping to your current location at this time. To try a different address, please select or create a new one below. I would enter a different address but this is the only one I have and I entered the correct one! Oh well, maybe some other time! They sure could have had a big order though from me!
  4. Thanks everyone. My wicks are of course not exact with the 1/4", they are normally a little longer but very close. I just wonder tho how these candles will burn with the short wicks like that. I did notice that she has pulled a ton of her candles out of the shop this past month. Wonder why that is? She does advertising here on a local free board so maybe that is what she is doing now. Anyway, on the fragrance oils, I don't go over what suppliers of wax and oils suggest for maximum oil I add. I just don't want to get into any more problems than necessary and my candles seem to be very strong with using the amount I use which is 1 oz per pound. I also never test burn my candles until I wait for 2 weeks to let them do their cure, that way I know for sure how they are going to perform with the scents I use. Again, thanks for all the responses. I feel so much better about what I do with making my candles now!
  5. On the wicks though, I was just thinking that if they are right above the wax that maybe they would have a hard time getting a good "burn" going. I should clear up that before sending my candles out I do cut the wicks back to 1/4", I just leave them longer when they are setting up b/c when using the heat gun sometimes I get the burnt look to the wicks where it looks as if they have been lit and blown out real quick. I get the heat gun too close to them some times so this happens. Anyway, like I said, these that I am talking about you can just barely see the wick sticking out of the wax so was just wondering if this would cause a problem with the way the candles would burn. As for the fragrance oils, I use the 1 oz. per pound in all of the candles I make. I've never needed to use more than the recommended amount of oils so this has worked for me. I know there is alot of debate about the triple scenting and that many people use this term when selling their candles. I've just always used the wording of "highly scented" and it has worked for me.
  6. I have a question for everyone about how short you cut the wicks after you make your candles. I'm not talking about after they have burned but once the candles set up and you are ready to place the lids on them. I have seen some lately that the wicks have just barely been above the wax line. These are soy candles, which I make myself but I normally leave my wicks about half an inch once they set up. Is this a good length or should I go shorter? I just think with these wicks on the candles I have seen that they are just too far cut back for them to burn properly to give the melt pool needed the first burn. I thought about buying one and trying it since the lady is advertising them as "triple scented"....they are a single scent...just to see if they would burn the way soy should. I'm not knocking her product, they smell really good but I have never tried one of the candles so not meaning to sound as if I am, I am just curious about the wicks and wouldn't they "drown out" or bleed through if using triple the scent on the candles?
  7. This is going to sound like a really dumb question but for those of you that use the ladles.....where do you get them from and are they the plastic or metal ones? I never really thought about using one until I saw it on this thread! I am like someone else said, I forget to close mine off sometimes after I have used all the wax in it and when I go to melt again I forget that I didn't close it off so have the mess of wax to clean up off of the floor! It's a really good thing that I have mine in a closet with nasty old linoleum down on it or else I would have many ruined floors!
  8. Did a little research after finding out what this had in it and bingo! You are so right about the JS....here is the description from them: AMBER DESIRES - Amber is the rage this year and this oil will not disappoint you! A fabulous blend of amber and Madagascar vanilla, sandalwood and a rich musk. This is an exotic blend that will only add a unique quality to your line. Excellent in soy and safe for bath and body. Dead on to what VS says it has in theirs! Off to place an order now! Gonna also check out the other ones I carry to see if they are the same with the exact scent descriptions as VS. If so, just might have to do a bigger order or do a huge sample order just to try them out. Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the help! That's the great thing about this board....people are willing to pitch in and help when you need it! :smiley2:
  9. Here is what I got from the site of VS with the scent description of all of their scents in their garden collection: http://www2.victoriassecret.com/commerce/application/prodDisplay/?namespace=moreInfo&prnbr=8M-206469&cgnbr=OSFRGWOMZZZ&moreInfoInd=allScents&groupCd= &dispMode=STANDARD&buttonClicked=btn_scent_descript&selColor= Amber Romance is down about the 9th or 10th one.
  10. Well considering I can only say the scent is what it says on the bottle, yeah, I did think it kind of rude to tell me it wasn't what the bottle says it was. On the other hand, she liked it. I guess it is a catch 22 when you sell something that has the same name as another popular company sells. I don't know what it smells like myself, not tried any of it but, like I said, I can only tell them what the bottle says. I have no idea if it is a "true" dupe or not, it's just that the name is the same.
  11. I sold some tarts to a lady that were scented Amber Romance and she told me that the scent didn't smell like she thought it would.....said it wasn't as close as she expected it to be to the real thing. I bought the fragrance oil from NG so, are there any other suppliers out there that might have a dupe of this that is closer than NG's that some of you have used? I have never really paid much attention to this scent when I have went into VS due to my favorites being Pure Seduction, Lovespell, and Romantic Wish. So opinions of other suppliers at this point would be great. I wish I could remember what she told me it smells closer to. I have her email so will go check and post it after I find it. TIA for opinions on this one! **ETA-Jovan Musk is what she said it was closer to than Amber Romance**
  12. I won't be much help with answering this but, I buy from them all the time. I have always got great oils, never thought about comparing them to anyone elses tho to see if they may be twins to others. Guess I should start checking so I don't have dupes also!
  13. I was looking in the wrong place so I did find it now! I was trying to find vanilla lime rather than lime vanilla! Thanks!
  14. I'm not finding it on there. I went to the Yankee dupes and it is only showing a couple of them and this scent is not one of them so wonder if maybe they don't have it any longer? Thanks for the link tho!
  15. I am trying to get scents of Candy hearts and vanilla lime. I smelled both of these and fell in love with them. The candy hearts has vanilla cupcake and black cherry mixed so waiting to get these scents so I can mix them. I have lime and vanilla so did some of these today...smelled pretty good but am having to tweek it a little. Just wondering if anyone has tried to mix either of these and what the % of each fragrances were that you used if anyone would be willing to help me out? I don't normally mix my own scents but I know that I would have to see which of the scents I would want to come out, however, I am trying for a dupe of both of these so that is why I am asking. TIA
  16. I was never sent an email telling my stuff was backordered...no communication whatsoever.....that got to me anyway! I know each time I sent them an email I got the message I posted in one of my other posts almost immediately after I sent the email but, never got any responses back. I'm glad that it worked out for you as well as it....for me it didn't and for others I have read on here it wasn't so easy either. I know that they are the only place I have found that carries the Pink Magnolia and I have customers that I am hanging onto that love it! I just don't know about ordering again from a place that leaves a bad taste in my mouth or that I have problems with.....it makes want to spend my money elsewhere!
  17. I did get my order today! I'm glad that I did but just wanted everyone to know that I did get it and am very happy with the scents I got. I'm not so sure that I will ever order from them again but, we'll see. It's just been a mess with this but at least I got what I ordered and now I get to making what I need to make!
  18. I guess I am going to be in the same boat as you casey! I have alot of people I used NG's Halo for....not to mention I love it myself! I wasn't aware that they were no longer carrying this one! Better check the site for others I might need to see if they are still carrying them. I've got a few customers that have always been loyal ones over the years that I am still doing candles for even tho I am "out of the business" so to speak, so need to find something else for them I guess!
  19. I did finally get the tracking number for the shipping on the oils ordered. It was emailed to me later last night....much later. It says it was being shipped FedEx so I am hoping I can see today when it is supposed be delivered. With all the reading on this one, not to mention the hassle this has been, it will be the last time of ordering from them. **Thanks for moving this for me....I really had no idea where to place this at! Sorry for the wrong placement to begin with!**
  20. well the day is over and I do not have the tracking number as promised by them. I have very few customers left due to me pretty much closing down due to going back to work and issues from a back surgery about 2 years ago. Anyway, I sent an email AGAIN and got this response back from them immediately: "Thank you for contacting us. If you are inquiring about your order, please be sure to include your order number or we will not be able to pull up your information. Thank you and have a lovely day! Soap Silly Staff" This came right after I hit the send button on my email to them. I really don't know why if they tell you they are going to do something they don't do it. I read the thread sent to me by a poster on here earlier today and I certainly see why they would be losing customers with the kind of service or lack of service they are offering! My oils supposedly were on back order and they were supposed to have emailed me.....I never got it. They say they never got my email to them. Do I believe that when I sent the email to the same email address I just sent the one to today? I took it off of the paypal payment and it is the only email I have for them and according to that email they DID receive my email....I got the same response the last time I sent them an email right after I hit the send key. I really don't know what is going on but it is getting down right crazy. They are the ONLY supplier of the Pink Magnolia that I have found.....no other suppliers carry it so I went through them to get it. I make things for my family, friends, loyal customers that work with my husband....I can't tell them no since they buy so much from me, and then for myself and this scent is very popular with all of them! It's frustrating! But I have learned that I will not be ordering from here again....EVER. I will just have to relay the issues to customers I have about this company and let them know that I can't rely on them to supply me with what I need. It's a shame and with the charges of their oils......$18.99 for an 8 ounce bottle.....wow....they could really use some of that profit to take some customer service classes to learn how to be more customer friendly!
  21. Well I finally got a reply back from them only after filing a dispute thru paypal. I was told that they sent me an email letting me know the fragrance I ordered was on back order. On their site it said it was available so I ordered it. Anyway, supposedly they are sending out the package today and I am supposed to get an email with the delivery/tracking numbers. After reading the thread you sent me, I am even more worried than before. I really needed those oils a week ago and thought with what it says on their site that I would have had them by now. I checked all of my emails, including the spam and junk mail before deleting anything and there was never anything there. They say they didn't receive my email either, although I went directly thru the email for customer service. We'll see how it turns out though. She didn't charge me any shipping so if I get the package I will be happy but as far as ordering again, I'm not so sure. They are the only place that has the pink magnolia that I can find so I may have to try to mix my own in the future if I can find out what is in it and the amounts of each to do. What a pain this has been. Funny isn't it that after I filed the dispute I get an answer from them. Like I said, we'll see what happens and I will post here. If the package ships today as she said it would, then I should have it by weeks end.
  22. Not sure if this is being posted in the right place or not so if not, moderators please move this to where it belongs and I apologize for posting in wrong area. I just wanted to know if anyone has ordered from them lately? I placed an order on March 4 and still have not heard anything from them about my order nor have I recieved it. I really needed the oils I ordered and with the prices they charge for them you would think they would do a better job of shipping them out or at least communicating with those that do order from them. If anyone has had any experience with them please let me know. I don't normally worry about suppliers but this one has me sweating a little! Thanks!
  23. I just bought Pink Magnolia from someone on the classy ads and it came from soapsilly. This fragrance is great and my family loves it and so do I. My question is, since I am just making candles now for us and an occassional customers here and there, is there another supplier that has this scent that would be comparable to soap silly but not as expensive? This is like $18 for an 8 ounce bottle. I have done a search but came up with nothing so far so I am coming here to all of you to see if maybe someone could give me an idea of where to look. I've tried BC, NG, WSP, RA, Peaks....nothing! If anyone knows I would be so thankful for the help!
  24. Thanks for the replies. Emry~I am just going by the directions on the time to soak and the time to dry that is on the BC site project page. I have never had it take less time than 48 hrs. to dry and I do wait at times much longer to try burning than even 2 weeks but still have the same problem with having to relight both sticks and cones. I have even laid them out on my porch for the sun to hit during the day to help with the drying but....again same problem. I really want to sell these but will just keep working at it to get them right. Again, thanks for all the replies and the pms of ideas and suggestions!
  25. I use a glass baking dish and other types of pans that are long enough to hold the sticks. When making the cones I use the 4 oz. hex jars and just add the DPG and scent. Works great for me and I can shake the jars to distribute the scent also.
