I have been making candles and soap for approximately 2 years and am loving every minute of it but keep finding out that there is more and more to learn all the time. I live in Indiana and have attended two candle conventions and registered to go to my third and fourth conventions. These have been very informative and it wet's my appetite to get more involved in bath & body products. I have just done a small sampling and enjoy it very much. My dh and I would love to get on the craft show circ

I haven't found anything yet that I don't like. I love the dipped bears and the carved candles but I really don't have a desire to make either one. My dh is going to try his hand at the carved candles and I can hardly wait!!!

  1. I know this is an old thread, but I found it while searching for a lotion recipe so I tried it. It's great!!! I used 10% rice bran oil and 7% monoi oil and the feel is so silky and it absorbs very nicely. Just thought I'd share a little FYI.
  2. I saw them yesterday at WalMart's for $38.88. They also had the 4 foot folding tables for only $1 less. It didn't seem to be a sale price either.
  3. I have been carving for about 3 years now and I get all my supplies from John at Candle Fun....www.candlefun.com He has everything from the wax to the glaze so he could answer a lot of your questions for you. If you contact him, let him know I sent you. HTH I love carving and get great compliments on my candles. I also have had the separation issue in the past but I don't remember what the problem was.....I think it had something to do with the microwax. John will know.
  4. Just do your practicing while he's sleeping!!!!!!!!
  5. I don't know about picking my brain, but I'd be happy to bring you a copy of the pattern I used. The doilies are all 8" so hopefully the ones you have are close to that size. Thanks for the compliment.....I've very proud of the way it turned out.
  6. I considered going but decided this is not the year for me to go. I've got a couple other places to go....NG's open house, then Lights & Lather Gathering in July. Guess I can't do it all, even though I'd like to. Hope you have a great time and let us know all the details when you get back.
  7. Thanks Lorrie & Maggie. I love the way it turned out, it looks so victorian. As soon as I saw the pattern I knew I had to make it. It was really pretty easy since the pieces are large. Maggie I'm sure your biscuit quilt will be georgeous. I plan on making 4 more quilts.....different patterns......before Christmas. I want one for my two children as well as my husbands two, for Christmas gifts. My sister in law has a commercial quilting machine so she is doing the quilting for me. Thanks again.
  8. So cute and my favorite color combination. I love black, white and red together. I love viewing your new creations.
  9. Ok, I have my first quilt top completed and ready to send to the quilter. The problem is, I can't figure out how to post a pic on here. If you would be willing to post for me, please send me a pm with your e-mail address and I'll forward it to you. I'm a bit computer illiterate I guess. Thanks
  10. Very nice table display and I'm glad to hear you did so well. I know you were nervous about how many would come. It looks like you had plenty of food too.
  11. Ok now, you girls behave yourselves. SYR just give in and say yes and all will be well.:whoohoo:
  12. Scented you are not the only one interested in the bowls. A few years back someone told me how to make them using a balloon that you keep dipping til you get the thickness you want. Well I tried it but they didn't come out quite like I had hoped. Yours sound much nicer than those were.
  13. Kyme that is really cool. I love all the bright colors and it's such a nice heirloom for her little girl to have forever. It was always hard for me to place my pieces. I seemed to want to keep my lines straight and it just doesn't work that way for crazy quilting. You did a great job.
  14. By the time I get this baby done, I'll be so proud of it I'll want everyone to see it. I do think it will be beautiful. I have all my blocks made and just need to put them together and have my sister in law quilt it for me (she has a commercial long arm quilting machine).
  15. That sounds really cool and I'll be anxious to see it. I am currently working on a quilt that includes 1/2 doily in the squares. It is going to be beautiful and very victorian looking. I can't wait to get it done. I've decided to make quilts for my kids for Christmas, so I really have to get my buns in gear (need to make 4). The one I am working on now is mine and it won't be going to anyone. LOL
