  1. I'm playing around with some bath powders. I have some NG Chamomile which is nice, but a little light...like it needs to be mixed with something. I'm going to try some lavender, per an idea I got when I searched. I'm not a huge lavender fan, tho, so I need some help with other mixer ideas. Anyone?
  2. Good Point, sockmonkey. But when I had the little problem with the 1st order, she did respond to my email pretty quickly. She didn't offer much in the way of a solution, except that it might be the box that the musty smell was originating from and that the products should be fine. I was skeptical, to say the least, but turns out she was correct. My order last week was small, so shipping was a little high. I like to make it more worthwhile when I order from places, but I really just wanted to try out a couple of her lip balm bases.
  3. I've just recently used Jody for a few things and the service was good. I gotta tell you, tho, that the 1st order I received, I ordered some packaging (jars, etc.) and it arrived with a definte "musty" smell to it. I took everything out of the box and let it air out. The smell went away but I didn't feel good about it until I washed and sanitized everything. A definite PIA, to say the least! I just ordered from her again (no jars this time!) last week and was very pleased with the order.
  4. I got Lavender-Orange for my sample. It had never occurred to me to blend these two - and now I know why. Bad call on my part - should have gone with the Energizing!
  5. I was just on a site that claims to have a "sweetened" Fractionated Coconut Oil and that it works great as a sweetner for lip balms...anyone know anything about that? http://www.mabelwhite.com/SupplyCo/SweetOil.html
  6. I've only played around with one batch and I hate to say it, but it does seem a little drying to me. And I threw in a bunch of different stuff! I had big hopes for it, but I'm afraid it's not going to be all that
  7. Try Pink Glimmer Mica from FNWL. I tried it last weekend for Watermelon lip balm and it is perfect. Oops, I just looked at the label and it says "not stable in CP soap." Guess that doesn't help much either.
  8. I wholeheartedly second that...she's the best and she knows what works. Almost every sample I've gotten, I've turned around and eventually ordered. That's cuz I know what I like (basically) and by letting me choose which samples I'd like to get, it only makes sense that a sale will probably follow. She has got to stop getting all these new great sounding FO's in every week, tho...I can't take the temptation! I've gotten some decent (smelling) samples from BCN but they are starting to collect dust amongst the rest of my supplies...what to do with 1/2 oz except sniff the bottle till I get an "FO high"? Hmmm, maybe not such a bad idea....
  9. For some reason, I only have this problem when I use square mason jars. I never seem to have it when I use the 1/2 pint wide mouths. I love this wax but I'm thinking about sticking with the 1/2 pints just to avoid this. Repours aren't usually necessary either. I suck at doing those ~ it always looks like a separate blob of wax on top when it cools!
  10. If you make tarts, check out the $1 section at Target...I found little "Ramekin" bowls that can sit on candle warmers there this a.m...white/black/red and various shapes, too. A basic round one, a square one, a square one that looks like someone pinched the sides, etc. I've never been able to find these at my Walmart...but there's a lot of things I can't seem to find there! This little discovery made my day! (Not an easy thing to do since we just got 13+ inches of snow overnight!)
  11. Me, too! :highfive: It's nice to NOT want to try a FO for once!
  12. I haven't poured one in longer than you ...about two weeks before Christmas! I have so many "testers" laying around to be dealt with that I swore no new wax would be melted until I dealt with what I've already done! In all honesty, however, I have so much B&B stuff on my kitchen counters right now...no room to make any candles these days! I swear I fit in here too well becuz I, too, swore I wouldn't "go over to the dark side" and now here I am with a basement full of lotions & potions, bottles & jars! Now where did I put those wicks? LOL
  13. Since you're soy-based, maybe you can figure out what to do with Soyalatum from Kangaroo Blue. I just got some and I'm not quite sure what to do with it! http://www.kangarooblue.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=196
  14. I'm still testing, mind you, but CDs seem to be working the best for me in this wax. I also like the Performa wicks (BCN carries them). I use a 1/2 pint short mason jar (3" diamater) and seem to be using mostly CD16 or 18. HTH
  15. I use all the usual stuff (skewers, waxed paper, etc.). The only thing I can think of is those little garage sale stickers. I use 'em to jot down scents & wick size to stick on the bottom of my testers. They peel right off when I'm done. I also use glass pyrex for melting pots. I have to admit that I often find myself thinking along these lines when I'm shopping, like browsing around Target. (Hmmm.... what could I use that for? or what do they have here that I could use?). I'm just a shop-a-holic anyway!
  16. You know, now you've got me re-thinking. I think I'm going to keep Monkey Farts for just the very reasons mentioned...it's an attention getter and the scent is then surprisingly good when you try it. Hmmm...decisions, decisions! Who the $%#@! comes up with these names anyway???
  17. :laugh2: :laugh2: LMAO, Michelle! Love the ideas Jen. I think my Mom would love this one, but she won't even open anything called "Lick Me All Over!" She might just try "Just Delicious", tho! Thanx!
  18. Hyacinth Chula Orchid from Just Scent - I make my various raspberry candles sort of a pinkish-purple (Vanilla-Raspberry/Raspberry Zinger). I think technically it's called "Orchid" I also get "Clean" from NG and have decided a light purple seems to fit. Purple is my fav. color but I haven't come up with a whole lot of fragrances that smell "purple." I'm not a fan of lavender, either! Lisa
  19. I just got some new FO's from NG (yay!) and they're all fabulous (double yay!). I just can't seem to like anything about the name "Lick Me All Over." I'm coming around to "Monkey Farts" a little bit, but LMAO is just not doing anything for me. Anyone rename that one or have any ideas what else to call it? Described as: "A wonderful exotic fragrance with base notes of raspberry, cantelope and watermelon, middle notes of jasmine and violet and fresh top notes of grapefruit and kumquat."
  20. I just got some from here: http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=372 I thought mine came with caps but now apparently they don't ?
  21. I've got the tart green apple and quite honestly, was a little diappointed. I don't find it to be all that "tart" at all. I got a sample of Jolly Rancher Green Apple from JS and really think I like it much better.
  22. The Vanilla Pear is yummy in candles, too! It's the very 1st FO I tried when I started making candles and it got me hooked! Tranquil Sleep "Clean" Type Tayberry & Teakwood I can't wait to get some new ones in the co-op - this thread is confirming many of the choices I was picking out. Thanx everybody!
  23. After trying a few different waxes, I've settled in with 6006 pretty much exclusively. It throws better than J50 or J223, IMHO. I'm still testing, testing, testing, but I seem to be having the best luck with CD wicks.
  24. I just got some today, in fact, from FNWL.
