  1. That is an awesome find! I was going to suggest The Conservatorie http://www.theconservatorie.com/products/150_ml_Blue_Lotion_Tube_qty_10-40-38.html. I have a boatload of these and I love them! They are a little cheaper but not as good a selection.
  2. Body Powder was the first thing I set out to make when I started playing on the B&B side. This was probably the first supplier website I stumbled upon, but it still seems to be the most informative on this particular subject: http://www.forsoapmakers.com/formulating-body-powder.html HTH!
  3. I'm thinking about putting together a case of scent samples and I need some input on containers. I was pondering whether or not I could use the little 5 gram mineral make-up jars (polystyrene) like this: or the hinged polycon (LDPE) 'sample' containers like this: I've also seen these listed as Polypropylene at some places. What I'm trying to figure out is whether or not either of these can withstand hot wax. I think I like the little make-up jars better...but not if they're going to melt!
  4. Yep, I ran into this last week, too. It seemed pretty legitimate to me at the time, but in hindsite, I probably should have been a little more suspicious. Shortly thereafter, I got an e-mail from my credit union confirming the activation and explaining it a little more.
  5. I think some might also call that "violet" as well. Depending on whether you want it more pastel or more vivid, darker blue with a lavender or maybe even a fushia-pink color would probably work.
  6. I've used both a Sizzix and the larger die cutter, The Big Shot, with pretty good luck. I've also used scrapbooking punches with some degree of success. That's probably the best way to get smaller shapes and they come in circles, squares, etc. That material is really thick and your hand can get kinda sore from either method. An Xacto knife is helpful to get it thru it all the way. I've been wanting to experiment with the whole iron-on thing but have never gotten around to it. Any other tips or pointers on that would be great!!
  7. Thanx for confirming just what I thought. :smiley2: I didn't put it on any kind of rack cuz it seems a little soft, but I think I have something I can use once it hardens up a little more. I did mean while it was curing. I plan to store it in a Rubbermaid-type container eventually.
  8. I hate to ask such a "newbie" question, but my attempts at searching have not led me to the answer. This is my virgin run at CP and I'm sooo not feeling very confident! I made it on Sunday but haven't been able to get back to it until 2-nite. It's a little soft and a tad bit oily but I think it's a go. So I took it out of the mold, sliced it up and set it in a cardboard flat on some paper towel. Now what?
  9. Yea, sometimes I just can't resist ole LTD. I get really irritated at their shipping policies tho. You order ten things and they'll ship one item per box and you pay shipping on every single item. In that regard, there is another catalog, The Lakeside Collection (http://www.lakeside.com/home.asp) that I *think* is run by the same outfit. They only charge you shipping once and usually ship everything together. They didn't have this item, in particular, but they have about 95% of the same stuff that LTD has at exactly the same prices.
  10. I just got this and I think it will be great for cutting chunks: http://www.ltdcommodities.com/home/catalog/cat_item_pg.asp?G=600&P=470&Rec=2&Ntt=cutter&N=37&Nao=0&R=443587-1CUT---1 When I get some time to try it out, I'll let you know!
  11. It's always good to know someone with clout! (Meant in a complimentary sort of way, Donita!)
  12. I was thinking something more like this: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8586954&sourceid=1500000000000003260410&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=8586954 Don't you just love the internet! So many ideas...so little time!!!
  13. I placed an order with them in March. I got an order confirmation that the order was being processed and should be shipped in 7-10 days. I've heard NOTHING since then. l've sent several e-mails that have not been responded to. I had called them once to find out about mold release and I was very rudely told that they didn't have any. Based on that, I didn't even try to call them about this order. They never charged my cc so I've just written it off. Very disappointing cuz they have some nice molds!
  14. Thanx SD - you answered more than one question in there - even the ones I couldn't really express!!! And the picture - worth a thousand words! I'm still not sure about that heat gun, but I definitely DO respect it!! I took a few pix that I wanted to post in the Gallery - that's how I discovered just how unfriendly Vista can really be. I've been fighting with getting my "device" recognized for a solid week now! UGH!!! So I'm going to spend the weekend trying new things with wax and maybe even my "friend" the heat gun!! Thanx again - you're the best!
  15. I made my very 1st orb with a metal Saturn last weekend, and it was quite obvious that the heat gun was going to be needed. But unlike you and Donita, I'm a little scared of it. :embarasse Does the melted wax just drip down to the bottom and cool? I made a few forever candles and ended up with wax "drips" on the outer edges - not the look I was going for!!
