  1. Ok.I will save some of the wax after I pour just in case. Thanks for the help Eric and Candybee!
  2. Quick question. If I do a 70/30 blend of a one pour soy and a two pour paraffin, will I need to do a second pour if the 70% is the one pour?
  3. Thanks Stella, you're right.I often check out the big wig companies candles and they always have wet spots.I agree it annoys us more than it annoys candle customers. Before I started making candles I never once noticed the wet spots in any candle I ever bought, lol. My candles are far from perfect and there's definitely room for improvements. When I work out the other kinks and all I have left to deal with are wet spots,i'll consider myself a lucky girl!!
  4. My house has poor environment control also so it's been a constant battle for me. The only way i've been able to 100% prevent this crack is to wash and prewarm my jars and pour them into a box with a divider in it and cover the box while they set up.It's less than ideal, but it works so....you gotta do what you gotta do I guess. On a happier note,I have found by doing this,it has helped with wet spots tremendously.Damn advanced. It's supposed to have been designed for the wax to pull away from the jar, which is fine and dandy...except that it never completely does, leaving nasty wet spots and making me want to bash myself in the head!I must be a masochist to keep doing this, lol!
  5. I poured some without c.o and it's still happening.I'm pretty sure now it's the cooling.I'm gonna have to work on that I guess. Thanks for the response Stella.
  6. I've had success wicking a 3 in jar in ecosoya advanced with an htp 1212 and LX 22,24,and 26,depending on the f.o.I usually have to wick up a size or 2 higher than manufacturer and supplier recommendations it seems.
  7. I was just wondering if the reason I am getting a big crack in a circle shape on top of my candles is because they are cooling to fast on top or if there is another reason this may be happening. I havn't been pouring them with wicks in them,so I know it's not a wick thing.I usually pour a bit hot but I tried pouring cooler, like 130*,hoping to improve wet spots, but now i've got the dreaded crack!Any suggestions? (Btw,i'm pouring advanced with 1/2 tbs c.o,1 oz f.o,and 2 color dye chips in 3 in status jars.) I've never had these giant cracks before, pouring at any temp, but I also didn't use c.o either.Maybe it's the c.o,maybe it's the weather change?Any thoughts?
  8. I just poured a Lemonberry Crumble yesterday and one today.(One with coconut oil and one without)It smells much better in wax than oob but I havn't burned them yet to see how they throw. My husband says it smells like a lemon starburst and I kinda agree :smiley2: It smells quite lemony so far!Pretty nice. It really stunk oob imo.I'll post burn results after they cure.
  9. I have a few of their oils and oob,the only one I found to have a funky smell was their lemonberry crumble.Once I poured it though,i couldn't smell the funk anymore.Hope that helps!:smiley2:
  10. Yeah! One of Gain's laundry detergent scents is Apple Mango Tango.I actually just bought a bottle of it the other day. When my fo's came,I did a sniff test with the fo and the laundry soap.I smelled the soap, then the fo,then the soap, then the fo,then I couldn't smell the soap anymore!!!The fo is stronger than the actual soap! It's pretty much amazing.Next time you're in the store you should give it a sniff!Lol!
  11. I ordered Lemonberry Crumble,Twilight Woods, and Apple Mango Tango. They threw in Twigs and Berries because they took longer than usual to ship. Anyways,I havn't had time to put them in my advanced yet,but I just thought i'd let you all know what I think of them oob as I find it useful when researching fo's to see what others think.Ok here goes.. Lemonberry Crumble-I was really looking forward to this one,but oob it smells like pledge furniture polish and something rancid :undecided Hopefully it smells better in wax!! Twilight Woods-It's nice, very light to me tho, perfumey. It probably won't throw in my advanced but i'm gonna give it a shot anyways!(Here's hoping!) Apple Mango Tango-WOWZA!!This stuff smells A M A Z I N G! Exactly like the gain laundry detergent.Very strong.I hope it throws well because I really like this one. Twigs and Berries-Smells pretty darn good.Fairly strong.I didn't have any expectations for this one since they just threw it in,but it is pleasant enough and I will give it a shot! Anyways,I will post further results after I pour them and they cure awhile.Hope this may have been a bit helpful to anyone interested in trying any of these. And,if anyone has used these, what did you think?Just curious how my sniffer may differ!Lol!
  12. Thanks for the responses.I think i'm going to try the bartlett first and go from there! Thanks again!!Let the testing begin!!Lol!!
  13. BCN has wooden lids.12/$10.50 I don't know how nice they are.I was thinking about getting some, but havn't yet. They aren't mahogany though. They look pretty light in the picture on their site.
  14. I have tried it and it is super strong! The cold throw chokes me but I think the hot throw is nice.
  15. To anyone who has tried Peak's two pear f.o's,could you tell me the difference to you and which one you like better.I want to try a pear scent and I can't decide which one to get on my next order.Tia!Oh and I almost forgot their Pear Spice too!
  16. What kind of wax are you using? That makes all the difference on the kind of wick you need. Also,I don't know where to find a lid this size, but someone else may chime in.I'm curious myself.
  17. In all fairness to the scentsy sellers,I do know one rep who isn't a COMPLETE nutter! Most of these people are just trying to make a living like the rest of us,it's just frusterating how psychotic some of them can be!I burned their tart bars before I even started making candles, and wasn't impressed with their products, even then.Plus, without scentsy selling the ever living crap outta their warmers, all of the real chandlers customers wouldn't have anything to burn their quality tarts in!!Like most of us have realized, they really are a blessing in disguise!!Plus,it is so fun hearing all of the stories of run-ins with them!Gives me something to chuckle about!!
  18. Lol,I do live in a small backwoods hick town and I just started seeing scentsy reps last october at our local harvest days craft show.I don't think they are as big as Yankee but they don't sell candles either, just tarts and warmers I think.
  19. So,i've been dabbling in tart making lately.I had put on my facebook that i was making tarts and was going to put scentsy to shame, lol! It was truly a joke.Anyways,my cousins mother in law sells scentsy and when she saw this post, she blew up my page telling me not to talk shit about other people's products and how I better put a lot of "smelly stuff" is what she called it,in my tarts because the walmart ones are way too weak.(Not sure what this has to do with mine)Also, she made an announcement as well that if anyone burns my tarts in a scentsy warmer and the warmer breaks that scentsy will not replace it!I was seriously rolling with laughter!I do not even sell these yet! Also,I thought it was hilarious that she called FO "smelly stuff"!!!!I just think it is so funny how defensive these people get about their scentsy! As if they've actually put any time and effort into it!I told her good luck making the owners of scentsy even richer, lol!I just wanted to share this experience with you all.I figured others would get a kick out of it like I did!I think it is so funny how scentsy reps stand behind their products as if they created them!I am a crafter,a creator, most importantly, but when I am ready with some kick ass products,I AM going to put her scentsy to shame and corner the melt market in my area and try not to stick my tongue out at her and say nah nah nah nah boo boo, scentsy who?:pLmao!!!
  20. I just ordered their Apple Mango Tango,Lemonberry Crumble,& Twilight in the Woods!!Can't wait to test em!!
  21. Thank you for the responses.I'm so happy it seems these turned out well. Maybe I will add some color to the next ones to see if that makes a difference in the crackling.I really don't want to add more f.o since they already have a great ht and f.o is so expensive.Plus,I think they look very upscale just plain white in the status jars, but I will try coloring nonetheless to work on the crackle.(I really wanna have that wow factor that I think the crackling gives the wood wicks)Thanks again!!
  22. I made 2 candles in the 8 oz. status jars(3 in diameter)with 1 lb of cb135,1 oz. f.o and no dye.One with a large wick and one with an extra large wick.(From Lonestar)They looked awesome and they both burned well.I used apple jack f.o and they smelled amazing pretty much as soon as there was a mp.I kept them lit for 4 hours and both had a fmp at about 3 hrs burning. From the 3rd to the 4th hour of burning, the depth of the melted wax was about 1/4 of an inch deep. When I blew them out I felt the jars and neither were extremely hot.The tops of the jars were warm, but not too hot that they couldn't be touched. The bigger wick had a louder crackle but by the 3rd hour of burning,I could barely hear it anymore on either one.(Something to work on)Just thought i'd share my experience.Does anyone know what could be tweaked to get the crackle to be louder,or at least continue crackling?Maybe I did something wrong, not sure! Also, does the mp and depth of wax seem correct for the length of time they were burned?Any thoughts would be helpful!:smiley2:
