  1. I use advanced and have experienced the lack of scent throw but the appearance problem I have never had with this wax.I noticed that if I stir a wax too vigorously or pour it too fast i'm more likely to get air bubbles. But that's only happened to me with cb135 wax.It also might have something to do with your pour temperature. What temp are you pouring at?
  2. Haha, apparently I am!When I decided to start making candles,I jumped right into soy,not knowing how irrational the wax is really! Then,of course not knowing that the size of the jar matters so much,I just bought a few cases of 8 and 16 oz country comfort apothecary jars because that's the style I love!Totally naive I just assumed it was as easy as wick, melt, and pour!Lmao! What a poor little fool I was! But,I had made my decision so i've stuck with it.I do have some jj's but I really don't like them.I will test with them as well, just to see what wick will be needed for future reference.
  3. I have been using hemp wicks and have been semi-happy with them.I want to start testing some other types of wicks in my ecosoya advanced wax.Hemp wicks are the second type I have tried, the first being Peaks cotton core which I didn't like because they were very brittle and broke off a lot after burning once or twice.I was thinking about trying CD or HTP's next or maybe LX?I am going to try a sample pack of one of these.Could anyone who uses this wax help me out by telling me what works best for them? Also,I use the 4 in country comfort jars only.Because the diameter of my jars are so wide, the hemps don't burn all the way across on every candle using the biggest size wick they make, hence the switch.I've read tons of info on other types of wicks, but they are all so general.Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Hello!I am thinking about buying some parrafin wax to mix with ecosoya advanced to make a para-soy blend for melts, but I have no idea what kind of parrafin to get?Any suggestions?
  5. I havn't used any of those waxes so I can't help you there but most people will tell you it's a matter of how they work for the individual.Everyone is different.I've been trying the ecosoya waxes myself and i'm not quite satisfied yet,so maybe I will try the ones you mentioned someday. I can tell you that USA is universal soy additive."It aids in mold release, hardens wax, binds oil to wax, increases opacity and lengthens burn time. Can be used in all types of candles! Suggested use is from 1/2 to 1 tsp per pound."Quoted from Bitter Creek. Hope this helps a little.
  6. Thanks lindanelson.I am definitely going to try the one from AH,but I will still probably try the one from Wellington also. Thanks for the reply.
  7. Hello.I am looking for a great forget me not(the flower)FO for some melts and container candles I will be making for an Alzheimer's awareness fundraiser.I used the FO Finder and found it at Aroma Haven,Wellington, and a couple of others sites I have never heard of.Has anyone tried either of these or another company's?I may buy 1oz fo from both AH and W to compare.Any other suggestions? Thanks.
  8. I came across these at candlesandsupplies.com.Don't know how the price sets with you tho. Here's a link to the page. http://newcart.candlesandsupplies.com/Store/Products/Candles/PID-32-234-R.aspx
  9. What I don't understand is why she would tell her competition of her shady business practices? You'd think you would want to keep that under wraps! This women sounds like an ignorant moran.I buy candles from craft shows on occasion and I would be pretty p-ed off if I got one of these duds.
  10. Awesome.Thanks.I will probably get one.It irritates the heck outta me when my wax hardens and my wick is clearly off center.Of course it doesn't look off when you stick it,or sometimes even pour it.I take the word "probably" back and am replacing it with definitely!
  11. I have the hardest time centering my wicks! They always seem a little if not a lot off.Does anyone use the EZ wick setter tool?I saw these on Lonestar's site and was wondering if they work b4 I spend the $25 on one.
  12. I really love Peak's Mac Apple. My mother in law used to buy Yankee Mac Apple and after I gave her one I made with Peak's fo she was hooked!Needless to say,she doesn't buy Yankee candles anymore.
  13. I've been using them for a while now and they burn pretty well for me.I do agree that the mushrooming is a turn off tho.Like it was mentioned above, too much FO or too big of a jar and they don't do so great. But,I personally like them.To each his own, right?!Lol!
  14. Yeah, the hemp wicks get awful mushrooms but otherwise I like the way they burn.
  15. I found these and thought they were so super cute that I would share. They are from candlesandsupplies.com:yay:
  16. Thanks Soy327 but I don't need the C70's anymore.I switched to hemp wicks.Thanks again tho!!
  17. I don't mind the mushrooming and will continue using the hemp wicks because they burn well for me.I've done several test burns with them and the tests seem to be true to the burn everytime.
  18. I am in central illinois and of course there is one way north of me and even farther south of me.For a 50lb box of wax, they want $20 to ship.I was just wondering if there was a place a bit closer, maybe I could drive there myself instead of having it shipped. If I drive to the place closest to me,I will still end up spending $20 on gas!Lol!I will keep looking or just bite the bullet and have it sent to me.I'm trying to keep my cost down as much as possible so when I begin selling my candles they will be affordable in my area. Thank you for looking though.Right now,I can sell 8 oz colonial jars for $5 but if I must pay more for shipping,I will need to raise that rate up a bit.Boo.
  19. Does anyone know of any distributers of ecosoya in illinois or maybe a better way to find one besides googling it?I have tried that without much success. What I have now came from NGI but I was looking to find one a little closer. Thanks a bunch!
  20. I bought a package of C80 cotton core wicks awhile back when Peak was out of the C70's I was shopping for and they do not burn in any diameter jar I have.Any suggestion on what I can use them for? They burn too hot and make a tunnel down the middle.I use CB135 wax.
