  1. Thanks Robin! Do you use lavender eo? I'm looking for something that has good theraputic qualities, but also a really strong nice scent to it....I'm thinking I may stick with Lavender, Bulgarian..
  2. I need to buy more lavender eo. Up til now I have been using Lavender, Bulgaria because I read that was the most gentle (such as for babies). I was looking at EOU and there are so many different types of Lavender I don't know what the difference is. I've been looking through every EO book I can find at local bookshops, but all are REALLY pricey, and don't seem to have a whole lot of content...so I haven't bought any. Anyone know of some very informative EO sites online?
  3. I use mostly Peaks...so I'd probably stick with a lower range, some of their FOs can be pretty potent. I don't know exactly how much I use...because I don't use any yet lol I have been most stuff unscented up til now.
  4. Just curious what everyone uses. How much for leave on products? How much for wash off products?
  5. Yep, its like coconut. You'd think they'd (all suppliers lol) ship it in buckets....at least when its cooler weather. I just put the bottle in a sinkful of hot water and when its liquid, pour it into tubs I've saved from butters I've ordered
  6. Anything infused with nettles makes a great belly balm/oil/butter...really helps with the itchiness. I made an oil out of light oils all with reparitave properties and infused olive with nettles...I believe her exact words were "Oh sweet relief, I love you!" lol Maybe even a bath tea with nettles, or soap for mama ... Can you tell I love this herb? lol
  7. Yep, I just got some from columbus foods...the prime pressed smells sooo yummy
  8. I contacted her too after Robin posted the link But the testing she offers is different than challenge testing - she said that she doesn't do challenge testing beause its financially out of the reach of homecrafters. She did mention a "poor womans challenge test" lol She said to get the testing done that she does offer, when it passes, use and abuse the product for a few weeks and have that tested...
  9. Actually, I did add the lanolin and FO before it seized...as soon as I put the FO in thats when it happened I cut it tonight. It passed the zap test....or at least my husband didn't complain when I made him touch the soap with his tongue One small spot is kind of gooey looking - but that was at the very end, so I cut it off. The rest looks ok - there is a slightly darker spot in the middle of a couple bars....not quite sure what this is yet. I'll let the soap dry out a bit and watch it
  10. Thanks for the suggestion Bunny Well, initially the lye was very well mixed in...I had used the stick blender for the first couple of minutes...thats when I went to nuke some lanolin for superfat and it was really thick when I came back. So I hurried up and put the lanolin and FO in (Peaks Wild Raspberry) - thats when it started clumping up (big clumps like lumpy farina lol). Can temps being somewhat higher than normal contribute to this? Because I think the temps were... So, I think if anything isn't mixed well enough its the FO - but even that is a good enough reason to melt it down again lol Oh, and so nobody thinks I'm crazy because of my odd recipe, this soap is for washing woolens, not people
  11. Purple, I just read that in the link you posted I haven't tried it in any recipes....flax goes rancid very fast (or at least loses its.....flax goodness lol). I would think it would need to be a refridgerated product and discarded after a short period of time....definately would need something to prolong the oils.
  12. I made a batch tonight that had 45% OO, and 45% babassu (other 10 was lanolin...and added SL to water) - boy does that babassu trace FAST. It traced in about 5 minutes, 1/2 of which it simply just sat there not even being stirred... Anyway, at thick trace, I added lanolin and FO (1/2 oz ppo) - and it started setting up in the bowl, got real clumpy. How will this affect my soap?
  13. http://www.buhiimports.com/ - good prices, quality and selection...and no minimum
  14. This isn't for b&b really....but everyone knows about this stuff so I'll ask here. I want to make lanolin sprayable - the waxy stuff, not the lanolin oil. I'd prefer not to use water, but will if I need to. I can also use the oil as part of the mixture, I just want to make sure its a decent amount of the waxy lanolin. I've got polysorbate 80 on hand. Any tips?
  15. Even though its thin as water, is it still moisturizing and feel good on the skin? You could sell it as a sprayable lotion like bath and body works does
  16. Thanks, thats pretty much what I have been doing - but I've got some things I've infused with 3 or 4 different herbs, and its makes labeling a bit of a challenge lol
  17. How would you list that oils were infused with herbs? All I can think of is doing it similar to listing something with multiple ingredients (like a preserv.) olive oil (and) herb Would the herb be an extract? I'm clueless - help me lol
  18. Thats good....cause I just placed a $100 order with them last night lol I was impatient, I really needed to order. But I passed on the VCO! I couldn't gamble on a 7 lb bottle lol Hmmm, maybe I'll post an ISO to see if I can buy a small amount of their VCO....
  19. I really like the prices at soaperschoice....hows the quailty?
  20. no? (did you know that a post msg has to be at least 10 characters long? now you do....thats why I'm typing this, "no?" wasn't enough lol)
  21. Another thumbs up for agbangakarites unrefined shea - I'm loving this stuff. It feels so much better than any other shea I've tried, especially refined. I also don't mind the smell...I could use it unscented no problem
  22. Anyone know of a supplier of organic castor oil? I can't seem to find anything organic...
  23. I'm in NM so I could probably do that too lol I'm using a large tea bag right now, but it doesn't seem to hold much...I can just see myself going through a lot of them. I don't think we have a Japanese grocery around here - the tea bags from b&b supply stores will probably get pricey...
