  1. I made some for personal use, once ground in a food processor and once whole. The ground really brewed in the tub better. I tried the heat sealable bags but I was having a hard time (I was using a curling iron lol) so I just put the tea in a wash cloth and tied it. The tea bags would work much better if properly sealed lol
  2. Not sure about quality or price...but WSP carries some
  3. I'm going to test it out tonight Does anybody have any suggestions to start at? TIA
  4. I asked them (shea terra) if their shea was indeed unrefined and they said yes and said its got all the same properties. They call it "Really Raw" shea. It still has a odor to it..but not as 'bad' as the others. Definately worth trying a sample
  5. Thought so I got it yesterday and it smells so yummy! I noticed though, when I added it to the bath water, it was really clumpy...is there something to mix with so its more easily dispersed?
  6. Yep, thats what I thought. I want to make milk baths and milk soaps, but I don't want to use animal products... I was just wondering if there were any others...you know, like VCO has...thats some GOOD stuff btw, are you Gene the soapin' trucker I bought my cmp from on the dish? lol
  7. There was a co-op for Shea Terra Organics (africansheabuttercompany.com)? I can't believe I missed that one....or did you mean the Agbanga Karite co-op?
  8. You should try a sample of the shea from africansheabuttercompany.com They sell "premium filtrated virgin shea butter" - its the best smelling unrefined shea I've used (I've used some from agbanga and from OBN). Just wanted to pass that tidbit on
  9. Just curious...I saw there was some confusion. I bought up the last 8 or so the grocery store had...and now they've got about 8 more on the shelf. Just wondering if they just happened to still have it and put it out...or if they got more. I guess I could always just ask a manager there lol
  10. I was right lol Its under Humectants towards the bottom
  11. Going off memory here (which isn't always good lol) I think I saw it at Lotion Crafter...I'll go check...
  12. Sorry...I just now saw this since it got bumped up. I got nettles from www.fromnaturewithlove.com But its a pretty common herb (I think) so you should be able to find it other places that have a selection of herbs. To infuse, you can add the dry herb to oil in a jar and let it sit in the sun for a few weeks. Or, you can do it double boiler method. So I can get it quick, I use the doubler boiler method - I put the jar in a pot of water and simmer for a long time. However, when summer comes around, I plan on just leaving the jars in the sun (too cold now). When its done, just strain
  13. I know it can be added to cool lotion/creams and powders - can it be added to oil only formulas? Any suggestions on usage rate? All I found was that in lotions it can be used from .5-2%....nothing about powders.... Thanks
  14. It could be the lye...but that wouldn't explain why it bled all over the other plastic lid in the dishwasher....at least I'm pretty sure thats what did it lol lindsaycb - PMing ya
  15. The soap is a fabric cleaner....and I made this batch solely for cutting up for samples. I'll test it to see if the red affects the fabric. The sides are dark and the bottom is very light - I think if I cut the sides off it should be ok...
  16. hmmm, looks like I should have got myself a blue one. I'll look next time I'm out..
  17. I just realized this....we have a plastic cake pan lid that came out of the dishwasher stained pinkish - its REALLY ugly now (originally green lol) - anyway, it just occured to me that the silicone pan is probably to blame for that too
  18. The soap seems fine....I haven't cut it, just took it out of the pan this morning. I too was wondering what if it had been my food soaking up that red dye....
  19. Was I mistaken in thinking that silicone bakeware was ok for making soap? I got a red pan from walmart, made soap in it last night and now my uncolored soap is pink on the sides and bottom
  20. I was just about to order online and they're order page isn't secure...says it is, but its not. I'll call and order....and let them know their order page is a bit misleading
  21. I'm considering it...just wondering if anybody else has anything to say about it http://www.craftmasternews.com/index.htm?1131477817437
