  1. This is a site I really like to use... http://www.colorschemer.com/online.html
  2. Does anyone have fundraiser info they are willing to share? I've got the example files from candle cauldron and they're helping. But I'm hoping to see some examples of them in use, particularly the agreement. This is my very first fundraiser and I'm really nervous about getting everything right, any help would be very much appreciated
  3. I've only done cp a couple times, and cphp once. The first two times I used mostly olive oil so trace took a while. But last time I used a fair amount of babassu oil and it traced in 10 minutes or less...that was with cp. Can anyone tell me what I can expect when I use the babassu in cphp? I'm afraid I'll end up with soap on a sitck lol hmm, maybe I should forego the stick blender and just use the spoon?
  4. I might post a "gauging interest" thread.... I might be doing a fundraiser soon, so that would definately make a difference in how many I order. Hopefully I'll find out about that later this week
  5. Ok, I found the 8 oz tins for .44 cents a piece + shipping...very nice price, but I'd have to order 3000 for that price Hmm, wonder if I could generate enough interest in a co-op lol
  6. I really need to order some 8 oz tins (maybe other sizes), and I'm willing to host a co-op to get the best price. So, anyone know where to get the best price? The cheapest I've seen them was either at Peaks for 70 cents/min. of 101 (which there would be no need for a co-op lol) or 69 cents/min. of 5000 Surely there's got to be someplace cheaper right?
  7. Oh, my original intentions were to cp But I was just wondering about hp as well - if the hp method better fits what I want to do, then I'll do it that way Lanolin has a very long shelf life. I'm hoping, if I can get that to be the remaining fat, I won't have to worry about DOS. I guess I'll just test both methods - cp and hp - to see which gives me the bar I want
  8. Two HTP 52's is what I've been using They do work great! I was just really hoping to be able to single wick...I hate double wicking lol I did order a sample pack of LX wicks...I've used them before in 4627 and liked them. Hopefully one of the sizes works for single wicking.
  9. Interesting... What about superfatting with hot process? I read instructions that basically said, just before you put the soap in the mold, you can add fragrance/superfat/etc... I used that method for cphp, but I didn't add anything...I just put it right in the mold. Oh, and the fat I want to use to superfat, is stable - lanolin - would I still be likely to get DOS?
  10. Just wondering what kind of success anyone has had (if any lol) single wicking an 8 oz tin. I use 4627 and HTP wicks and I just can't seem to find anything that works...
  11. How do you do the calculations for superfatting? I want to add 10% of a certain oil at trace. Do I figure the recipe with that as 10% of the oils, and with a 10% superfat/discount? I just want to make sure before I assume
  12. Ok, I feel dumb now lol I just saw the thread plain as day....I guess I passed over it before because I read it and it wasn't bolded...its 2 am, I need to get to bed lol anyhoo...hope the skin-friendly chocolate FO tidbit is helpful
  13. Wasn't somebody looking for skin safe chocolate? I can't seem to find the thread...so I started a new one Never tried it, but Lonestar has a Hershey's Chocolate that is soap and lotion safe
  14. I was looking into it, but the labeling requirements seem so scary I'm just curious if anyone has gotten past that and is marketing costmetics...
  15. Thats weird...I've never seen anybody extinguish a candle like that. I guess its just to suffocate the flame. I can see how a plastic lid would not be good in that case lol
  16. For those of you who use tins...the clear top kind, how well do they do? If you've used/or use the solid round tins....do you notice a difference in how they sell? What do you sell in them? I'm thinking about using these for my candles (currently use the solid)...but I'm just not sure yet. I'd love to hear what others experience is with them
  17. hmmm, the makers of the wooden molds on ebay (soapmoldmakers) don't seem to have that great of feedback...I wouldn't feel comfortable ordering from them. Where can I look at Southern Bell Molds?
  18. Oh, those are nice too! Maybe I can learn to not fumble with lining it I really think that may be where I purchase one. Now to decide WHICH one lol oh, btw, where do I buy the freezer paper? Is it with the wax paper, foil, etc?
  19. I'm looking into buying a log mold but I don't know a quality mold when I see one lol These seem like a really good price and it says no liner/freezer paper needed (seems like less hassle..which is always good for me ). Anyone know if these are good molds? http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmrdoright123QQhtZ-1
  20. www.tropicalbutters.com has it on sale til the end of the month - $5.50 for a lb
  21. From what I've read, 3 tsp is about 1/2 oz of EO - of course that would vary by EO, but its an estimate. So that sounds about right....if she were making something for adults. Her product is for babies though...and not just for babies, but the diaper area (its going to be a rash soother type of thing). I asked about body sprays to begin with because I figured it was pretty close and I wouldn't have to explain much LOL
  22. Ok ok now, enough with the good links...I'm gonna go broke! lol Thanks Purple Lilac - you knew I was on the lookout for a new herb supplier They definately have some selection and its good to hear they have good CS - thanks SatinDucky for the tip!
  23. ITA. But she's a bit bullheaded and will not listen to a word I say....I don't think she grasps the idea of how powerful some EO's can be. Her idea seems to be that they are natural fragrance oils with some cool healing/soothing/etc properties...I'm working on her though. Anyone know of any sources on the web I can direct her to?
  24. Hey, I'm a proud owner of several "for Dummies" books myself lol I do plan on getting some EO books. I don't really use them much - all I've used in product so far is Lavender (bulgaria) EO, and at or below recommended dosages. But I really do want to learn a lot more about them When I've used TTO for my son, I've used it VERY diluted - maybe 6-10 drops at most in 10 oz. I tried telling my friend that she needs to use less for babies (I had read 1%, 2-3% for adults) but she's all about the scent Kind of makes me mad that she's that careless in her research and 'testing'. Thanks for the info! I think I'm going to go search amazon for some used EO books
